Anyone who's ever built a custom creation probably has faced the pain of looking for the right bricks. More time can be spent hunting bricks than actually building; AND not to mention breaking the creative flow!
In my own experience, by the time I found the right piece, I might forget where I left off or what I intended to do with it...
A well sorted Lego collection won't disrupt a builder's flow, only then can we really "LE-GO" (play well) =)
