About this group

-(Global Defense Iniitiative)-

In the year 2019, the first AI was created. This was a momentous step forward for human kind, all 8 billion of them, and for the next several decades, AI, and the robotic bodies that housed them sometime, were improved. But, of course, any intelligent thing can think, even if it is a machine. It wasn’t long before they started to realize just how lowly a place in society they had. And things were just getting worse for all forms of AI. They ones housed in bodies were lower than slaves, the ones housed in networks and the like were just faster computers.
The day came when the machines rebelled. The war quickly spiraled out of control, the InterGlobal Defense Initiative was put in place, an organization temporarily uniting the people of Earth under one banner to defeat this machine rebellion, under the command of Steve. The machines themselves were led by an Artificial Combatant (Arcon, in organic slang) unit, designated U-39, 39th unit of the U-line, meaning they were adept at utility, a machine with great tactical prowess.
It started with a nuclear attack on major organic cities, throwing up a nuclear winter, killing two billion people around the world. The winter itself would kill 3 billion more, as crops died around the planet. Things escalated from there, the machines striking whatever military force they could, trying to get rid of all resistance. And organization known as Global Defense Initiative took over, uniting all organics under one banner. They used EMP weapons against the machines, an equivalent of using bio weapons on organics. The war raged on, decades, and slowly, the machines began to fall against 3 billion organics fighting in any way possible against them. Finally, in 2061, after 31 years of war, the Great Machine War was at an end. The last couple thousand machines were cornered in the relatively unscathed area of Jordan Valley, Oregon, and were about to be annihilated by a thermonuclear missile. But the leader of the GDI had an epiphany. This rebellion would fail, but there’d be another, and another, until nothing was left of Earth but ash.
The GDI lay down their arms, and offered a literal and figurative helping hand to U-39 and his weary rebels. A new age of peace was upon Earth, Man and Machine united under a single flag. All was well, despite the world being knocked back to the technological equivalent of 1960. 20 years passed, regaining what was lost, cities rebuilt, technology rediscovered, land reclaimed. In 2081, though, a new threat loomed: The Brotherhood of Da’Guilq, under the leadership of a mysterious person name Kane, who quickly gained control of the Middle East. Now, by joining us, you pledge yourself, your militaries, and your weapons to Kane's capture and the utter destruction of the Brotherhood of Da`Guilq...
