Indeed, I pre-ordered Final Fantasy XIII Limited edition for XBOX360, I got the PS3 version. This won't happen to Halo: Reach though, I'm 100% sure.

yeah, not really worth it in my opinion, but some people gotta have that flaming helmet, and the statue should be worth some money since there is only a limited amount. I chose to pre-order the limited edition of Fable 3 with the money I saved by just getting the limited.
