Halo 4
Join to comment
Sorta related to the Halo Anniversary thread to announce the new release, I think that we know Halo 4 will be released by 343 studios sometime in the next year.

All I could get from the notorious Halopedia was that Halo 4 will follow the events of Halo 3, as Cortana wakes up Master Chief as the half of the Forward Unto Dawn approaches a mysterious planet. It also says that the Ch33f will have to face "an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe," to quote directly.

Post your thoughts in this thread.

Just found out this was announced in the E3 thread :/ still, i guess to keep this group active we can keep this thread.

By the way, Bungie also noted that Halo 4 will be the start of a new trilogy, which means that there must be a Halo 5 and Halo 6 that will follow the events of Halo 4. Any thoughts on that?

Microsoft mentioned the trilogy at E3 also. If I remember correctly they want to come out with one every year. I'll probably get 4 to test the waters, but If I don't like it I don't think I'll finish the series, I'm fine with it ending at Halo 3.

With that 'Ancient Evil that threatens the universe' it sounds like a medievil game, or some cheesy sci-fi movie. I hope it isn't.

the ancient evil is likely to be the flood, because the flood arrived in the milky way 100,300 years ago, and came from another galaxy. pertaining to the planet that master chief is drifting towards, it looks to be of forerunner origin. i also believe it is likely that John-117 will meet up with Dr. Halsey and the remaining spartans because they were trapped and sent to another shield world; which the planet looks to be. thats just my guess as to what Halo 4 will be, its extremely possible that i am wrong (i probably am wrong) but those are just my thoughts on the matter.

What? One every year, they mean like CoD? Man, why won't they just give developers more time these days... I really hope that there will be difference between the games in the second trilogy.

And as a side note, do you guys think that the trilogy will be entirely on the Xbox360?

They shouldn't put one out every year. Look at ODST, that got a little rushed and it ended up with a short campaign.

Maybe, it's more of microsofts choice though.

Also, how's that Sniper Rifle coming?

I don't think it's the flood, since humanity already knows of it's exisence, and already fought it. I'm thinking it will be the fore-runners, the surviving ones.

It wasn't a planet that John was drifting to, it was an installation. A planet wouldn't look as if it were made out of metal.

first off, look at how small the planet is, maybe the size of a small moon, it has many forerunner features on it, also, the forerunners kept flood specimens in storage in case they ever had to battle it again. also, the forerunners arent an ancient evil, as they saved humanity and countless other species from the flood by placing them on the ark when the rings were fired. also, it is unlikely that there are any forerunners left in the milky way because they left it after they fired the rings and returned the saved species to their homeworlds.

I don't like the every year thing either, but if that's what they do there's a good chance that 4, 5, and 6 will all be on the 360.

A planet is natural, not artificial. That installation was BUILT.

The Flood is ancient, but not evil, they are just trying to survive like any parasite.

I've also heard more rumors of Forerunners, than the Flood.

Also, stop citing wikipedia.

you have some good points, but some of your other points are faulty. One: i know it was built, its fairly obvious. Two: why would the forerunners try to destroy humanity? there is nothing in it for them.
lastly: i was unaware i was "Citing" wikipedia, i'll stop talking about anything that isnt in the games if you want. no harsh feelings; im not one to get into arguments.

Remember, Bungie isn't making Halo anymore since Halo: Reach. The Reach DLC and further Halos are created by 343 Studios.

Bungie is now working with Activision(CoD's publisher) and therefor making multi-platform games.

I heard they are working on some sort of MMO Sci-Fi war game, I wonder how that'll work out.

I hate how they have the BR and DMR.The storm rifle looks awesome, custom loadouts are scary cause you could have a team of close combat, heavy, sniper, leader.ScatterShot looks epic,Armor is still a debate.People I know say there will be no armor customizatoin at all just skins.I say It's both please confirm it for me.

With both, people will shut it about not having a BR.

If this trilogy will be the last halo(lets hope not!) then they should close the full circle by having the spirit of fire should come back and aid the master chief in discovering the screts of the sheld world(at the end of halo wars, serina wakes up the captain from cryo and tells him"Captain,Wake up!Something Has happened"(the probaly crashed in to the place where master chief went)) I mean Really! Cortana and serina! The ultmate Annoying Ai duo! Master chief and spartan red team! Any enemy is going to wish they never steped foot in the milky way galaxy! anybody like my idea!

I don't know... The Dawn, Infinity, AND Spirit happening across the same place? Seems unlikely, since the Dawn and Spirit would just be drifting aimlessly.

I Just saw the E3 trailer/gameplay and i think the ancient evil has something to do with the forerunner. There was the forerunner guns and the orange things that attacked him which had the same color scheme as the giant ball with the orange patterns. I think the ball is or has something to do with the forerunner/ancient evil.

It does.ouoting halopedia "Cuts to Cortana in what appears to be the Infinity's bridge. Cortana shouts angrily.

* Cortana: "...planet!"

Cuts to black.'

Cuts to John-117 lying on the ground, tightening his fist. Cuts to black.

The Didact's icon is shown, glowing orange and slowly spinning.

AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS

* Unknown: "I have long dreamt of this day, Reclaimer."

The icon pulses with bright orange light. Cuts to black.

HALO 4
11.06.12 "

And the Prometheans are not another race.it is the highest rank a warrier can get in the forerunner army.="The Prometheans were the highest and most respected group of Warrior-Servants in the Forerunner ecumene.[2] The Didact, the Confirmer, the Grammarian and the Strategos were Prometheans."

I think whats going on is the forerunners are trying to get back at chief for destroying 2 ring, almost destroying the ark,and releasing the flood.and what happened in halo wars with the shield world.

I think the Forerunners are very mad!

In Halo Legends:OriginsI-II Cortana discribes that the forerunners used the Halos were to kill all sentient beings...Including themselves. So with that said yes they did die to almost extinction but they didn't all die at first thanks to the shield worlds-although, there is very few shield worlds and million of the forerunner race didn't make it in fast enough and were eradicated. It was also said promeatheans were AIs that were in addition of the senteinels to defend the forerunner structers planets but not the halo array.Because they promeatheans were so advanced smarter and stronger that they gave them no means of transortation or location close to the halo array. The promeatheans could have easily killed the sentenels-If you look at the campaign gameplay the Knight took out chief's shields in one hit.Considering that the sentenels can't do that even with the beams. So they could take over a halo with minimum casualties for promeatheans. The monitor could take out a few with it's advanced intelegence. So the promeatheans are in fact not forerunners but AIs protecting forerunner structers and planets.Jeeez this took me a while to type.....
