Just like the title says, this is a small vehicle contest. Here are the rules:
1. Entries: entries to this contest will be an original MOC designed and built by the person entering the contest, which will consist of a vehicle of no more than 80 pieces AND a stationary object/structure of no more than 20 pieces. When the model is assembled, no spare parts will remain. There will be at least one alternate model which will be constructed from any number of pieces from the primary entry.
2. Content: Entries will not contain overt objectionable material or behaviors. Keep it PG or G. To encourage new building, I add one additional content rule: No weapons. I like laser guns and bombs as much as the next guy, but if I rule out weapons, most of you will have to make somehting new.
3. Photo rules: Photos will show the model clearly. At least one photo will remain un-edited. At least one photo will show all the parts laid out for parts count. photo editing is OK as long as it doesn't change how the model looks.
4. Parts rules: If it came as one part in the box, it is one part. things like control sticks and minifig torsos count as one part. A creation will not use any connections which place undue stress on the parts. No illegal connections.
5. Judging criteria:
Primary vehicle:
a. complies with rules.
b. strong construction
c. moving parts/assemblies(except wheels)
d. accessories/tools
Primary Structure:
a. complies with rules.
b. strong construction
c. moving parts/assemblies
d. accessories/tools
e. fits primary model
Secondary model
a. complies with rules.
b. strong construction
c. moving parts/assemblies(except wheels)
d. accessories/tools
e. distinct from primary model
Stuff that doesn't matter: color coordination. stickers/decals
Additional judging criteria: no judge may enter a model.
5. How to enter: Build a model that fits the rules, put the letters "SVC" somewhere in the name(to help me search for it). Add that model to this group. Each person is limited to ONE entry. If you enter a model and change your mind about it, change the name of the model so that it doesn't have "SVC" in the model name. Timelines are as follows: Begin posting entries on January 18, 2013. Deadline for entries is 0600 UTC/GMT on february 1, 2013. Judging will occur the weekend of february 1 unless there are a lot of entries, then it could take all week.
Prizes:
Contestants must have permission from a responsible adult to get their prize in the mail. Privacy policy: as soon as prizes are mailed, all records of any mailing addresses recieved will be destroyed and forgotten. Prizes will be posted later.
One "Best in show" (discussed among judges)
two "first prize" (voted on among judges)
four "second prize" (voted on among judges)
one "people's choice"(for most I like it :) )
three or less "appreciation award" (for best/most positive comments written for other entries)
some "honorable mention" (for good models that don't win a prize)
I will need 4 judges. any takers?
