"Freedom of speech" doesn't mean you can be a jerk

I agree completely with the purpose of this group.

Racism is 100% uncool. I don't care who you are, where you are, or what medium you're communicating in... racism is not cool. Nor is any kind of slander.

A lot of people seem to think it's OK to do or say things online that they'd never do or say in real life. They seem to forget that putting something on a web page is like shouting it with a megaphone in the middle of town square.

I believe strongly in freedom of speech, and we've worked hard here on MOCpages to allow people to speak their minds. However, freedom of speech means that you can freely disagree with others and with those in charge without fear of persecution. It does not give you the right to be a jerk.

To paraphrase a quote from a friend, "Freedom of speech means you can say whatever obnoxious things you want in your own living room. It does not give you the right to say them in someone else's living room. For that, you'll probably be asked to leave."

The very first person that had to be banned from MOCpages was banned for making one single racist comment. (He called my wife, who is Chinese, a "far lady" and told me to keep her out of the photos.)

I don't tolerate this stuff. The hard part is keeping on top of it all, because people will, undoubtedly, be jerks.

Dear Mr. Kenney,

I would also like to present to you these MOCs which are also fairly racist and should be considered for deletion:

(And before you click on these, they are all from the same jerk)

This is slightly off topic, but what is your opinion of this group: http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/8031

(Note that I am not a member, but a favorite builder of mine joined so in that manner I found out about it.)

More among your favourite builders are joining.
It's an old group, and the members took it upon themselves to protect the freedom of expression here on MOCpages before.
This time, we reacted too late to save Giovanni's innocuous MOC, but we can still try to make sure that from here on NOTHING that does not violate MOCpages rules will be censored on content.
What if we were to report all Nazi MOCs on the 'pages?
I personally find them more offensive than some jews who happen to be pushy.
Should we have a go at them?

btw, you are welcome to join and stand up for your position there. Your opinions will be addressed, and NOT deleted.
