There is no such thing as an AFOLPC but there are plenty of private AFOL groups, most of them probably run by Phippy :P

Thats the reason I made a TFOL club in the first place - because there really wasn't any quality group for TFOLs to hang out.

And let me note, we still are the only quality group for TFOLs to hang out.

I've gotten to the point of not really caring about specific sets. Bundle is better in my opinion. This might be a little off the subject but, am I the only one who feels that the LEGO company should stop making new pieces? I think that it kills imagination and hinders creativity.

I don't know, if the piece is small it opens the doors to hundreds of great NPU options and can make MOCs more elegant and refined. I see where you're coming from, but I don't believe that LEGO has created too many pieces just yet.

Yeah, I get what you're saying... I think it's cool for Lego to make new pieces, but only when there's a serious need. For example, when TLG first came out with those brick-built chickens, it was pretty cool because anybody could create them out of relatively common parts; I guess that was part of their charm. And then TLG made those chicken molds... Yuck. I guess new pieces are cool in moderation.

-LB Senior

True, I have strongly considred nto using new pieces, because if we could build before, we can still build. And if there is a serious need for a certain piece, brick-build it! Like the 2x2x2 all-sided die with studs on all sides - it does not exist yet, but it is theoretically buildable.

Still, LEGO would slowly start dying if it stopped making new pieces. That would not be good. You could argue making new sets with what they have, but in the end, they will at least stop losing some more invested population which actually likes new pieces. Populism helps, even if you find it insulting.

They kill creativity? What kills creativity is large overspecialized pieces like the ones that were common in the 1999-2004 themes. If TLC hadn't introduced curved slopes (switched from sharp angles to curves for spaceships) we wouldn't have many of the amazing stuff today. Those 1x1x2 slopes are fantastic as well. There are many new pieces which allow us to further express ourselves through building.

1x1x2 existed in the 1980s.

Of course curved pieces make it easier to build curved structures, but I know many techniques that achieve the shape without specialized bricks. Of course it does not look as good, but anybody can use the given brick.

Nope, most BBC programs try to speak to speakers of all dialects and accents. No matter how different,
Britain has almost as many different ways to pronouncate as america does.
And Even if I were the only oddball, it would be out of just England, it would be out of all of Britain, as we all speak differently.

True.
I wasn't really saying that everyone in England talks like that.
I meant I like saying the british swear words in the heavy accented steriotypical accent.

I haven't started. My category (sculpture), though quite interesting, is difficult. I'm not sure how to approach it.

What's your favorite theme? I believe that we as a whole group/community in the TFOlPC can give you a challenge, to build something that will completely consume you and bring you back into the obsession!

That's all I can offer, until I know what your favorite theme is.

I haven't really had any 'big' theme lately, but maybe buildings. I haven't done starwars in quite a while either.

While I agree it would be sad to lose you from the community, don't feel bad about taking a break from LEGO if you just have a lack inspiration at the moment.
I'm on a indefinite hiatus myself, but that's mostly due to a large amount of real life awesomeness.

This group is apparently full of a bunch of people with too much spare time on their hands.

Haha I guess so.

Not quite like that, I was already on your page and didn't want to go all the way to my page then my groups so I just went to your groups. Just me being lazy and coming across as a stalker. Story of my life. lol

I said TFOL. L stands for LEGO, not Lcastle.

I know but to me I would imagine a TFOL would want to create something to prove his colors, instead of just writing something in the ground.

Seth as in Me.

Well that could get confusing, because someone else named Seth went through a dark age recentlyish.

It's been a great week so far, even though I had to take the SAT at school yesterday. I got my tassel for my high school graduation in June on Monday and the today I received two college acceptance letters in the mail from Washington State University and the University of Portland!

That's awesome! The WSU was the one that you had wanted to go to, right?
