When Gods Fall, Chapter Three: Nightfall

Night had fallen across the icy wastes of the north pole.

Beams of light arced across the broken wreckage of a spaceship as people searched it.

And high in the sky, and trangle glowed, The Vanguard, a portentous reminder of the Great Being's presence.

((I'm assuming you're referring to the Aurora. I'd rather you didn't have it changed, as it would probably confuse everyone.))

The teardrop shape of the shuttle hovered uncertainly a good ten metres as it slowly covered the few hundred metres to the outskirts of the main crash site. Powerful arc lamps lit up the ground beneath and to the side of it, and small groups scurried about around it.

Ghaile stood on a pile of wreckage outlying the site, a vantage point from which she could command the team. Tall lamps bleached the darkness about her.

"The thing we are looking for is a map. It's expected that it will be in this local area. Any piece of technology, any thing with a circuit that isn't immediately recognisable will be taken to a bhakari to identify. Oh, and please: try not to be too trigger-happy. We want any survivors found alive."

So Aurora would be the name, Harbringer the class. So you wouldn't be using it extensively, but it adds depth. The Versatility Aurora doesn't sound quite as good. So no. Not Versatility

Anyhow: the GBs won't land till someone on the team finds that map. The they'll land, have a bit of diplomacy, Kor waking up, followed by a firefight and Enias doing something cleva :) ))

The Aurora was an impressive vessel, with 2 large engines at the rear. The bridge was raised above the rest, and at the top of the bridge was a pair large anti-air/spacecraft dual gatling RFD-72 canons.((The ship itself is shaped like the 2008 jetpack piece.))

At the ship's helm was a merciless captain by the name of Merinalas. From the administrative computer, she could see everything going on in her ship, and communicate with the ship she was escorting, the Vanguard.

Kor's lifeless eye's bored holes through the inanimate Great Being. It felt like eternities had passed since he woke up in the room. Kor couldn't be sure but the room seemed to change in the corners of his eyes but when he'd focus it was still the same as it was an eternity ago.

((Anyways...))

[Kyrinz]

Though the spacecraft Aurora is a magnificent sight from the outside, once you pierced the golden hull and went into the depths of the ship, it became a semi-convoluted maze of machinery. It is a dreary place, lit by a harsh white glow that seems to not come from any source at all. Almost all Great Beings stay away from this part of the ship. There is little of worth to them in this place, and most find the atmosphere almost creepy.

That is, except one.

There is one Great Being who thrives in the twisting corridors. He is almost always at work, fiddling with this or that, tinkering with the innermost workings of the Aurora. He was the Aurora's lead mechanic, and he knows the workings of the spacecraft from back to front.

His name is Kyrinz.

---

Kyrinz was taking a break. He rested in a sort of hidey-hole that he designed himself, filled with monitors, guages, and meters, all monitoring a different aspect of the ship. On the floor was a little creation of his, made from scrap metal and parts he found. It was a transmitter, but wired to be able to decode and intercept almost any transmission. He made it as a precaution after their transmission station on the ship had been destroyed in a battle with a Bhakari ship. They were cut off from communication with the rest of their fleet, and it had been a veritable nightmare for Kyrinz.

Therefore, he made the transmitter.

Kyrinz closed his eyes. After the Aurora had shot down that Bhakari ship, the entire crew had held a massive celebration. He was still exhausted! He might as well take a short nap, to regain his strength for the ride home. I mean, he was so tired...

---

A burst of static erupted from the transmitter. Kyrinz was jolted awake, banging his head on a monitor. The transmission was extremely garbled, and it seemed to fade in and out. The signal must be extremely weak, Kyrinz thought. He leaned over, fiddled with a couple of knobs, and was rewarded with another massive burst of static. Kyrinz cursed and set to twiddling a dial. The static slowly began to die away, becoming fainter. But he could hear something else, a very soft voice, but he couldn't understand it. He continued, and it became steadily clearer. Soon he could understand what it was saying, and he quickly snatched a microphone off the wall.

"Commander Merinalas, I've found something I think you ought to see. I'm in my control room."

He then flipped a lever on his transmitter, which quickly copied the transmission. With a few quick strokes on a keypad, he sent off the copied transmission to their flagship, the Vanguard. Captain Valces would want to know about this as well.

Capries eye's glanced around the room. It wasn't the first time he'd been in here. It was a mental construct, a place within his mind meant to give him some feeling of sanity.

But now some Architect creation had got in with him!

He tried to summon a fireball, knowing it would be useless. The elements never work inside your head.

He tried a different approach, one that would satisfy his curiousity.

((No, what you have is fine, though we should progress the whole hybridization quickly, Hank. This is going to be a pretty big story point, so I would like for this to get going soon. Maybe Kor can answer why he jumped and Capries can then aggressively take over Kor's body to fuse the remmenants of them both into one being.

I do like the idea of flashing between personas off and on. That could make some interesting interactions.))

((You leave me no choice... I will have to do it myself.))

Enias had been on the outer rim of the crash site, attempting to rewire the sensors there to produce normal anti=grav as well as temporal gravi-

A cry went up in the distant night.

Enias quickly stood up and clicked his fingers, a black maelstrom of shadow enveloping him.

---

A Tracer, barely visible in his black armour was holding a bronze disc aloft, matoran runes spiralling around it's edge.

Enias stepped out from behind the Tracer and quickly relieved it from him, running his finger along the disc's outside.

Quite crowd, including J'krel, had gathered in the short space of time since the cry went up. Enias told them exactly what they wanted to hear.

"Yes, I think this is it."

The crowd gave a sigh of relief, and Enias could feel the next question on their minds.

"As far as I can tell, the markings on this indicate some sort of "Baterra Fall" point - that is, a location that all the baterra would "fall" towards after a give signal, like an ingrained protocol."

Enias gave a dramatic pause that would have made any hardened thespian weep.

"This map is indeed avery thorough map, and gives co-ordinates that would place it at the base of one of the Black Spike Mountains."

Enias handed the map to J'krel, who stowed it away with due unease and turned back to the crowd.

"You should all probably start preparing. The Great Beings may be here any minute((Cough cough))."

Any who didn't leave at that were encouraged by a full-on makuta black look.

"Now," he said to J'krel."Where's that D'mrali got to? I'd like to ask him something."

[Kyrinz]

Kyrinz looked up at Merinalas with a faint smile. My, she had got here fast! He took a deep breath and got ready to tell her about the signal.

"A couple of minutes ago, I began receiving an extremely faint signal from Spherus Magna. When I was finally able to get rid of most of the static, I discovered that it was a distress signal, one of ours."

"This signal came from none other than Capries, whose ship was captured by the beasts a while back. I figure that he was taken prisoner then and was on the ship as we shot it down."

There was an awkward pause.

"I just thought you might want to know. You can choose what you want to do with it, Commander."

Merinalas narrowed her eyes at Kyrinz, and then turned to leave.

"I sent a message to the Vanguard to notify them about the transmission.", Kyrinz called to her as she left. "I thought Valces would want to know about it as well."

Then, a buzzing sound erupted from the transmitter.

Kyrinz looked up at Merinalas and grinned.

"I think that's him right now!"

"Well, it's worth a try." He handed his sword to Enias.

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack, and, with a flurry of sparks, D'mrali's sword cut through the last of the disc.

For a while there was nothing but the hiss and creak of metal as it cooled in the icy air.

"Impressive," commented Enias, impressed. "Some sort of sonic vibration along the blade?"

Enias started banging the top half - the blade had only penetrated a couple centimetres in, not the whole depth - until a mechanism dropped out of the bottom, a tangle of wire and clockwork.

"I quickly scanned it to see that it contained something. We might need all this to access the place we're going."

Enias handed the blade back to D'mrali, along with the now-empty map-disc.

"What I want you to do is to just carefully change the co-ordinates, see them, there. Now put this in the cavity."

Enias brandished anti-grav cube number five ((So now he's got only four A-G cubes)).

"And seal it up with whatever you've got."

Then a flood of memories came back to him. all his old ones and the experience in the silver room. He'd never forget that voice. Na'vesh had finally stopped swearing.

Or at least out loud.

Now, he just stared at the gigantic golden craft as it descended agonizingly slowly toward the planet.

Na'vesh recognized that ship from during the last moments of their newly destroyed ship, the Foreshadow. Those outstretched wings made it look like some oddly shaped giant bird. It looked ridiculous! If only he could get up there, he would climb on that ship and rip those wi-

Na'vesh was interrupted by a massive bang as the body of the (presumed dead) Gladiator/Agori fusion suddenly sprang to life and snapped free of its bonds on the stretcher.

Two feet away from him.

Needless to say, Na'vesh started swearing again.

"As a matter o' fact," Said D'mrali. First he changed into Enias' appearance. Then Ghaile's, Muliciber's, J'krel's, Aziah's, Iiko's, Rixicus' and, finally, A random Toa's, uttering "Nope", "Nuh-uh", "Oops", etc. each time until he got it right. The other Bhakarai did the same.

((Nah, it was just that D'mrali was a cyborg, so I assume he might have some augumented capacity for changing his appearance that other Bhakari didn't have.

Btw, Quads - does D'mrali have the nanites?

And the Great Being is supposed to be on the shuttle (Which I was planning on exploding when Kor vents loads of energy during wake-up), but we can assume that when the shuttle dropped down what crew it had inside it relocated it's contents, including the stretcher, to outside.))

Enias looked on with fascination as the bhakari quickly cycled through a load of false identities.

He tenatively put his hand to D'mrali's skin, which responded by giving him a tingling sensation. When he withdrew it, his hand was crawling with tiny golden pinpricks of light.

"Amazing. Nanites, I presume. Creating an incredibly projection while somehow preventing internal organ trauma. I really want to have a look at your bluepri-"

Enias never quite finished his exhultations, as Kor's body began to writhe on the stretcher next to Na'vesh, his skin glowing and becoming brighter every second.

Enias had just enough time to increase the gravity tenfold, flooring everyone local to him before Kor's body released the pent-up energy of the Protodermis Cage.

Kor still bewildered as to the glowing and the aliens he had barely glimpsed spouting off obscenities. Kor felt he couldn't contain the energy inside him. He also felt a need to throttle the life out of the foul mouthed alien. "now where did that come from?" he thought.

Still he knew he had to move or he'd blow up his comrades as well as the visitors. He felt something inside him telling him to "Blink". he turned to the crew and said "sorry." Then with an EMP blast that shorted the whole ship he vanished. ((Aight I should explain somethings. Ghaile borrowed a word from the Bhakarian language to describe the situation.

The shuttle had been rendered completely inoperable. Its' nav-circuits had been completely fried, and to make matters worse one of its' older anti-gravs had decided to detonate, leaving a somewhat unsightly orifice in its' otherwise seamless hull. Thank goodness they'd relocated it's contents beforehand. It was reparable, but not of any immediate use.

Most of the Order tech - excluding the lamps - in the local area had been sheilded for this kind of thing, but the EMP had scrambled them to the point it would take half an hour to reset them all. Half an hour they didn't have.

Brilliant. No weapons, no wires ((Order-talk for comms)) and barely any light in a freezing icy wilderness at night.

The Bhakari had taken the pulse rather well; not surprising taking into account what they had survived. Ghaile took this as a good sign; the anti-grav cubes on Enias's person and in the disc would therefore have survived as well. The contents of the Architect disc would almost definately be fine too.

Ghaile turned to the crowd, and arced a blue electrical bolt across the sky to get everyone's attention. They were all fixen on the golden ship that was lowering it's self down into the bowels of the wreckage.

"I want Haro, a bhakarian, one medic and four Tracers to accomany me. Everyone else, keep near and out of sight."

She produced the map-disc Enias had given her.

Time to meet her creator's killers.

((Onto the GBs!))

((And where did Kor go to?))

Due to his lack of experience with teleportation, Kor didn't manage to get far. he was about two hundred feet ((what's the closest thing to that in matoran?)) behind the shuttle when the EMP went off. The shuttle's speed got it about half mile ((again I don't know the matoran measurements)) out before going into the crash. He didn't feel like going up to the people who he'd almost killed twice, both times weren't his fault but they didn't know that. So he decided to skirt around the wreck and see if he could catch up with one of his squad mates and try and explain the situation.

The Being ship was hanging above the centre of the impact crater, a kilometre-long stretch of relatively flat terrain.

High curving walls ran an uneven circle around this area, made of an amalgam of ice, earth and debris, forced up by the crash. It was behind these walls toa and agori scurried, digging trenches, rigging new arc lamps, Order Tracers recalibrating their firearms ((NOT GUNS)) and talking kill-box tactics beneath the omnicolouration of the aurora borealis. Fitting, but the team didn't know it.

Ghaile, Haro, and a few others grouped at the side nearest to the north pole, separate and talking in hushed tones.

"...and Haro, when I say, release a ten-joule, ten-femto second burst of UV. Now, has everyone got their false idents?"

The shock didn't bother Kor. What really bothered him was the fact he was strangling this creature without his consent. He quickly removed his hand and took a couple of steps back. "Sorry, sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry I don't know where that came from."
He wasn't completely sure how to apologize or how to explain what had happened.

Enias eyed the Being with suspicion. He could have done away with us by now.

The makuta couldn't afford to be too careful. He might be a trick... then it might not be. Why would the Being openly apologize when it had attacked him? It could be part of some convoluted trick.

He still had to be sure.

It was entirely possible the energy of the caging could force a psychic evacuation. He would be able to find out the name of the agori from Ghaile at some point.

They were roundabouts the centre of the site, where it was at it's deepest. According to J'krel, the ship had been half way through a head-over-tail flip when they crashed.

If the night outside the crater had been dark, then the night inside it was like a mist, all-pervasive. Haro proved to be an invaluable asset as a toa of light, even if he did swear far too much.

The huge phoenix of the Gladiator ship hung above them uncertainly, a grim shadow looming. They could see from this distance figures moving in the light that came from the ship.

The team bunched together, keeping close as one body as they began to reach the outskirts of this lit-up area. Beings in black armour began to draw powerful-looking firearms as they caught sight of the group.

Ghaile quickly stepped forward, and performed a conplicated sweeping gesture, which some of the Beings reciprocated.

"I would speak with your leader, on non-hostile grounds to as to ascertain the cause of your arrival. We come as neither freinds nor foes."

[Kyrinz]

"Ok, you have GOT to have me on the meeting team, Merinalas."

Merinalas stared at Kyrinz, an expression of skepticism on her face. She said nothing at all, but her dislike of the Great Being before her was very apparent.

"Merinalas, you need me out there. I need to be able to assess what kind of technology these Magnians are capable of. Who knows what kind of advances they've made in the time we've been gone? I'm the only one experienced enough to accurately determine their abilities, and you know it."

Merinalas still said nothing. She thought it over. Then, she had an idea.

Maybe, in the time they had during negotiations
Kyrinz could have an "accident." Yes, that would be best. Then, maybe her superiors could send her a replacement engineer that wouldn't have a psychic barrier that blocked her psionic influences.

Merinalas finally gave Kyrinz a slight nod and said,

"Fine, you can come."

((And the stuff I forgot to post:))

The platform was large enough, comfortably accomodating the four of them. It began to lift in the air, so subtly that it was several seconds until Ghaile realied they were rising.

The dark form of the Being ship began to grow above them as they neared it.

They were headed for a, dark, circular portal in the ship's underside that was obviously meant to accomodate the platform. Despite the light comming from the ship, it was hard to tell what lay beyond it.

Ghaile felt the map-disc lying in her one of her shin-guard's armoured pockets. She wondered who exactly the beings would take it, what they knew about it. Ghaile barely knew where the Bhakari had got from. She hoped they would not see their treachery; raising her mental defences at that.

Ghaile looked at the Being with surprise. He could barely speak his own language!

As Ghaile thought about it, it began to make more sense.

The matoran language, as far as she knew, was sort of a machine-code the Architects had created. Perhaps a generation of Beings had not been taught how to speak it.

And, after all, the Beings probably had their own language.

The platform had slotted back into the hole underneath the ship before Ghaile could answer the leader's question. Powerful lights came on around them, revealing and expansive white room, with a door at one end. It purred open to allow a column of Beings to sweep through.

Ghaile decided to take a chance in front of the Beings.

"Do you mean bhakari?"

The leader looked at uncomprehendingly, as did a great deal of others.

He examined the room as he stood with the natives' leader and pilot, analyzing the current situation. Kyrinz was very startled when the Magnians came in, though he tried to not to show it. I mean, it had been quite a few years since the Gladiators had split from the Arkitects, but he hadn't expected such advancements. Their armor was extremely high grade, lightweight but durable, and designed to be useful against both blades AND bullets. Though he couldn't tell for certain, he had a strong feeling that their weaponry had come just as far.

He shot a gaze at Merinalas, who was giving the Magnians an almost predatory gaze from over her rifle. He doubted the natives knew a scrap of Ituikan, so he decided to give them something unexpected.

Turning to the Toa in the group, he spoke in Matoran, saying,

Well, that had taken an interesting turn. This apparent leader of the Magnians seemed just as likable as his esteemed superior, Captain Merinalas.

Merinalas was currently staring at the leader, her mind obviously racing. To be honest, his was as well. Both of them knew that this map-disk was personal property of Captain Capries. His personal sigil was clearly inscribed (if very small) on the side of the disk.

This left a few possible explanations. One was that the Bhakari had simply stolen it from Capries during the battle. However, that didn't explain Capries' distress signal.

The Bhakari could have captured Capries and taken his map disk as well. Then, the Bhakari and Capries were all killed when the Aurora shot down the Bhakari ship. Then, the Magnians had simply found the disk. He doubted this was the case, as it still didn't account for the distress signal.

On the other hand, Capries could have survived. That would explain the distress signal.

But where were the Bhakari?

If a Great Being survived that, there had to be at least one of those overgrown lizards on this planet. They were just way too hardy to die.

Why had the Magnians denied their existance?

A third idea formulated in his mind, one that he didn't like at all. An alliance was the last thing they needed.

He quickly checked his mental barriers. If Merinalas could hear what he was thinking... all three would be dead before they could draw their weapons.

The ruse seemed to be working. The native seemed to think she was poorly informed. Apparently she was unaware of the gaping hole in her mental defenses. Her numerous implants made her mental defense almost 3x as that of an ordinary toa.

[Kyrinz]

Kyrinz decided to take a closer look at the map-disk and run some simple tests on it to make sure it was working. Currently, nobody was paying any attention to him, so he decided to make a grab for it.

He slowly reached out, and quickly sensed the electrical charge pulsing through it. Clever, but useless against magnetism. ((Magnetism has a very close relationship with electricity))

As he extended his hand, he let out a very small magnetic pulse toward the map-disk. As he expected, the pulse was enough to disrupt the large amount of static electricity flowing through the disk.

However, as he did this, he saw a slight disturbance ((in the Force, lol)) around the Toa of Earth. It was extremely small, something that even the most trained eyes could have easily missed. A slight flicker at the corner of the Toa's gauntlet. He did the pulse once more, and got the same result.

Only extremely delicate and sensitive technology could have been affected by an electromagnetic pulse that small. And the fact that it flickered indicated some kind of cloaking device. And cloaking devices were notorious in the engineering community for their sensitivity.

So the Toa of Earth was an illusion, and Kyrinz had a very bad idea that he knew who, or at least what, was underneath it. He decided to stall for time.

So, picking up the map-disk, he looked at the Skrall leader and said,

"This map-disk is the personal property of one of the Captains in our fleet. His name is Capries. Have you, by any chance, found him or made any sort of contact with him?"

The Bhakari was quite aware of the engineer, Kyrinz, as he had called himself, taking the disk and shifted slightly to one side, his illusion seeming to shift it's weight from one leg to the other while crossing it's arms. It's eyes focused elsewhere while he lifted his hands to aim his blades at the two Gladiators, while still keeping his arms at his sides to avoid breaking the field around himself.

His eyes bored into Kyrinz as he stood there, knowing something was wrong without truly knowing. There was fear in the air, suspicion and an over abundance of confidence and arrogance from their commander, though he suspected that was normal for her. He didn't like what it might mean for the three of them, nor for the rest on the world below their feet.

A quick look made it obvious that she was lying about the ferocious beasts hiding on her planet. She checked her own. All was well, no breaches. Her numerous implants made her mental defense almost 3x as that of an ordinary toa.

((Ghaile hasn't mentioned anything about the bhakari yet. She hasn't lied. YET))

The instant the tall Being picked up the mapdisc she lowered her mental defenses slightly ((Merinalas likes to exagerate, lol)) to instruct Haro to open an ion corridor between her and the disk-

And immediately regretted it.

The leader's psionic presence was pervasive, almost overwhelming. Quickly, she raised her defenses; only too late. The leader had already found out about their alliance with the bhakari. Nothing else, thankfully. Just a snippet about the bhakari.

She would have to be more careful with her mind.

The invasion had, however, given her a peek into the Being leader's mind - and showed it to be a ruthless, militant one. One not to be trifled with.

Haro had by now opened an ion corridor between her and the disc via a subtle directed pulse of UV.

Using this conductive pathway, it was a simple matter to recharge the disc, simultaneously knocking it out of the tall Being's hand with her Crast ((kanohi, see comm a way above.)) and pull it back towards her with an opposite charge.

At the same time, she addressed his question.

"We found a Being in an evacuation unit after tracking a signal we picked up. He died."

((Let's say Merinalas now knows only the minimum concerning the bhakari, that is, she is not aware of A'zaiah's presence and anything else.))

((Ah, makes cents. Editing above comms.))

"So, were you able to determine cause-of-death?" Inquired Merinalas, leaning forward in her chair. "Just a formality, really. As a military official, you understand the incident report system, right?"

((Your choice- tell the truth or lie, don't say he was Nuva Cage'd, and make something else up.))

"We don't know. He was found dead in his pod when we found him. Obviously the signal he was broadcasting was his last hope. We suspect that it was general trauma - heat, force of impact, that sort of thing."

((Would that work for static electricity?))

((Would that work for static electricity?))

((I THINK so, but I very well could be wrong. I would have to look it up.))

the other group perhaps?

((Good idea))

an eerie, otherworldly voice that was not kor's came from his mouth. "yes, I believe I can."

Enias nodded. He had expected as much.

A number of dull crumps on the ice below the Beig ship drew his attention. He quickly studied the situation, realising what it was.

The others had noticed, but he drew them back from the precipice.

"I this is our cue to leave."

A dark coil of shadow errupted from his chest, curling itself around Enias, J'krel and Kor.

And then, in a maelstrom of darkness, they were gone.

The secondary commanding officer, the one on the ice remainded totally expressionless as his commanding officer, Merinalas, detailed totally the entirety of her instructions.

Shoot to maim, not kill.

He made a series of swift hand gestures, subtle enough so that these... "matoran" would not notice.

All around, his colleages drew their sidearms.

And opened fire.

Well, that was rude. If the Magnian leader had only ASKED, he would have willingly given her the disk back.

Also, Capries was apparently dead. That didn't bode well.

He turned to the leader, and said,

"Would you happen to be in possession of his remains? It's very... important... that we get his body back. Burials and all that."

Capracies had been observing the makuta for some time now constantly searching for any kind weakness hidden within the beings dark exterior. Finally he had found one right after the teleport there was a large window of opportunity for an attack. Now all he had to do was regain control of his body. The agori was doing a rather good job of containing his will. Soon though he'd find a crack. Kor on the other hand was fascinated by the teleportation. He'd never seen a Makuta teleport so this was interesting for him. before the TP he'd felt s some tingling and then some sharp pains that went away. It wasn't until after they'd arrived he noticed the blood. Gold liquid began gushing from his chest. "oh" He said right before he collapsed.

Ghaile scowled internally. This was harder than she'd expected.

"We've already buried him. He's under the ice now."

[Ronin] as soon as the first shot struck his tank-like armor, the large warrior spun and grabbed the nearest Matoran and Agori to shield them from the attack as he crouched down, leaving the broad shield on his back as extra protection. He closed his eyes in concentration as he tried to use his limited telekinetic abilities to rip the weapons from a few of the Beings

[Mulciber]

As soon as he heard weapons being fired he ducked for cover. He then concentrated on a Great Being's weapon, melting it onto the owners hands. He worked his way through the great being weapons until one copped on to who was melting the weapons and shot him in the right shoulder.

[Na'vesh]

Na'vesh crouched behind a mound of debris, weapons fire peppering the snow and ice around him. He was still safely under his disguise of a toa of gravity, but he wasn't armed with anything that would be of much against projectiles. He looked around him for something to throw.

Directly behind him was the transport. Not much help there. It was a troop transport, not a battlecraft. Not likely to have many explosives, or weapons in general.

However, fuel makes for a VERY effective substitute.

With a burst of telekinetic energy, he flung himself over the transport and went to work.

((In case you're wondering what's happening, Merinalas just psychially ordered the Beings on ground level to maim everyone))

Enias manifested himself amidst the battle scene, the Great Being Kor collapsing silently beside him. He did not have time to find out why.

Bullets hurled past him like demented insects, and those that hit him ricocheted off his armour with imperssive sparks.

He caught the eye of the nearest Gladiator, locking it in a stasis field. A precise burst of plasma and a co-ordinated opening of the stasis field sufficed to incapacitate the Being((The stasis field power, I think, protects whatever it's being (lol)focused on)). Enias recovered it's weapon, located the power source and promptly stowed it away.

He looked up to see a bhakari he recognised - Na'vesh - fiddling with the control panel of some hovering platform not so far behind the line of Gladiators. It was simple matter to teleport over them.

Kor lost control again. He began to yell but it wasn't Kor's voice it was the same voice he'd used when he'd spoken great being an unearthly voice that sounded as if it was powered by hatred and dragged down with great chains of Puresteel.

"STOP KILLING ME!" he screamed as he shot a blast of energy from his arm strong enough to penetrate the hull of the ship from whence his body fell from.

The blast missed most of the gladiators due to Kor's positioning but managed to incapacitate three of them. It was in that moment Kor regained control. It was then also when he realized what Caps had just done. Caps had used most of his energy to preserve himself. This made him incapable of fighting Kor for control or at least until he regained his energy. Then he passed out again.

J'krel was grateful that she thought to assume her disguise as a toa. There were Great Beings shooting at the natives, many injured, the rest hiding. She ran at the beings. Knocking one off his feet and stabbing another in the shoulder.

Enias scrambled over an icy boulder, stooping down to Na'vesh's level. Some brief dialogue revealed his plans concerning the platform.

It was simple: Na'vesh's knowledge of Being technology told him the platform would be most likely powered by the bhakari's equivalent term for energized protodermis. Na'vesh's plan was to force a timed overload on the power source, thus creating a somewhat large explosion in nearby area.

They didn't have to worry about how they were going to perform this operation, as at that precise moment an exceedingly powerful bolt of energy, issued by the Great Being Kor, did the job for them.

---

A distant downward boom preceded the floor lurching, setting Ghaile's boots whirring as their gyroscopes fought to keep her upright. A powerful hum began to emanate form beneath them, and the ship began to level off.

Ghaile immediately thought of the team left below the ship, one scenario occuring to her above all others:

"Treachery!"

((ANND... Cut! A wrap, once more.

Chapter summary:

1)The Gladiators received Capries' distress signal, and arrived at Spherus to investigate further.

2)The Recon Team have found the mapdisc for this mysterious "Baterra Fall" point, but thanks to my red herrings have yet to learn of it's real location.

3)The recon team dispatched a diplomacy team to investigate the Beings further and to exchange information about the mapdisc and Capries, only to interrupted by a powerful explosion from beneath the ship.

Thar! Hope that all makes sense... either way, see you in the other chapter! (Which, Quads, I have already made) ))
