I use the Windows Paint application to crop the png files that LDD creates and save them as jpg. Presumably, LDD creates png files with transparency to make it easy to put pictures of your MOCs on top of backgrounds.

Does anyone know how to:

A) Get higher resolution screenshots out of Lego Digital Designer?

B) Make the V-Fin on my Gundam Heavyarms' head stick out diagonally in that clip in Lego Digital Designer? Any help would be appreciated.

I've notices that several people have been able to get a white background on their screenshots. How do you do this? I've only been able to get a black background.

if you use the new MocPages uploader all your ldd screen shots upload in white.

I'd suggest using photoshop to take screen grabs while LDD is open. You can pre-set the resolution much higher than LDD does automatically.

As for diagonal fins. Only way I've found to create a diagonal is to use a 1x1 clip with a 2x1 hinge and place a flat tile over the studs. if you angle the hinge at 30 degrees the results are "fin" like. closest I've got in LDD.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll take them both into account

I have the latest version of LDD but I have notices some people have lots of extra pieces that aren't available for me to use in my version. Is there some sort of download for that?

There is a modification you can make to the program to unlock the "Lego Universe Theme". You'll have to look up "Unlock Lego Universe Theme" on Google to find out how to do it, as I can't remember how.

I was using the Universe add-on function with LDD4 until recently. However, I recently was asked to update my LDD to v 4.1.6 so I did. I noticed they took out Creator and replaced it with Universe. However, it is not the full Universe I was able to use before. There are less colors and some of the pieces- especially minifig parts & weapons (mostly Star Wars) were no long available. Does anyone know if you can reconfigure the new Universe back to the old unofficial Universe?

Interesting question. I have no idea. You could always re-install the old program, I suppose. Ideas, anyone?

I Can Show You How To Have Multiple LDD Version Installed On Your System At One Time, Like I Have 3.1.3-4.1.6 On My System.

You Can Even Make Something In A Particular Version, And Open It In A Different Version.

For Instance, You Can Make Something In 4.1.6, Then Color It In 4.0.2, And It Will Keep It's Colors When You Open It Back Up In 4.1.6

Andrew, I would be interested in this. Before the LDD4 upgrade, I had a lot of Star Wars pieces that are no long available and I would like to use them. Can you help me add the older version with Universe, but still keep the current LDD version with Universe. BTW, I use Mac.

Oh, the Humanity! I was working on my 00 gundam last night, and was about 75% done the main gundam itself (not including the armaments or alternate forms or upgrades), and then this morning, when I went to open the file, it said "unable to open file". No matter what I do, I keep getting this message. Its so unfair! I don't know if I can even re-create the steps I took to make that model again! Has anyone else had this problem? More to the point, has anyone else managed to recover their work after experiencing this problem? Any advice would be appreciated. I've already tried re-installing the program, and renaming the file, but neither worked.

Tick high res in LDD settings. Use your GC prog like "catalyst control center" for an Ati card. Set all 3D settings as high as possible. Start LDD again and take some screens in the viewer mode.
For Nvidia cards use the similar prog.

Use Photoshop, paint or any other picture editing software to get rid of the ugly background from LDD.

You can dl a free version of photoshop on the adobe paige. Its called Photoshop Elements.

Seriously nobody knows this? Ok well all you got to do is type in "ThemeAccess=LDDExtended" in the preferences folder just like with LU mode. You'll have any piece you want and more. Here's a link that says how- http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53760

I can't stand the way LDD keeps reshuffling everything. The parts are harder to find now. Probably the best example of this is the wall element that is used for an icon, but no longer found there, but under the door icon. If anyone knows where the big bumper bars (using two technic pins on the end) is, please let me know. I can't find the darn thing.

If you think about the spoiler thing it's in the category that has the steering wheel icon. You can type "spoiler" in the search bar too.

I know I should ask andrew, but I am assuming you have done this. Could you possibly teach me too? I am also on a mac by the way.

Ok, pretty much you do the same thing to get extended mode before. If you add the ThemeAccess=LEGOUniverse line, you get a new palette called LDDExtended (Or at least that is what it does in 4.1.8).

Yeah, I'm finding a lot of weapons parts are now in the mini fig section, while the rest are under the tools part.

They seem to have tidied up the bionicle/hero stuff, but there are still some parts in the gears section that really should be in the technic section.

And why have some 1x1 and 2x2 tiles been moved to the hinges section?

The thing that annoys me is the flat plates are now in the hinge section. That section like the steering wheel one is becoming a catch-all for uncategorized junk.

Hello people :D If I may ask, can anybody tell me how to use flexible parts in LDD? I am planning to do some anathomical models in it, and it is very hard to make vessels or nerves from standard bricks. It would be great to learn how to do it :D

The only flexible parts I've seen are some hoses, rods, and chains. They are marked with a little flex tool symbol in the upper right corner. When you place the piece on your model, click the flex tool at the top, then click on the piece and bend it where you want. To connect it to another piece, click the end of the hose, then move the cursor over the stud or holder and it should connect automatically. Lemme know if this helps.

That is because of the uploader you use. The new "fancy uploader" gives you a white background.
