ah, finally a tidied-up name for the thread. :P

also guys, just gonna mention that you might be seeing fewer Mechs from me for a while. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for my shipwright days and will be spending a bit of time building new starships and fixing up old ones, as well as finally getting back to work on a story I started in the LU Creation Lab back on LEGO.Com.

I'm gonna keep going with the MST series, and will also continue work on everyone's late-late Christmas presents, but otherwise I won't be building any Mechs.

actually, I meant more along the lines of mini-scale capital ships, like Star Destroyers and stuff. (although I DO have another starfighter design. I got the pictures done and everything, I just need to post it)

Does anyone have ideas for how I could do the Hummingbird II? It's gonna a minimech carrier (holds 6 plus one human pilot) based loosely off my Hummingbird on the DbM gallery. I've got some ideas but I'm not sure if they'll turn out to well.

the... Hummingbird? *looks it up on DbM* oh, that's a cool idea. well, maybe if you made it into a really big vehicle, so it could hold lots of mini-Mechs/bigger Mechs? it might be more practical, so that you'd only have to use one pilot to drop off a squad or so of them.

The Hummingbird II will hold six minimechs. So two can drop a LTMC Unit.

Not really a specific style, though I'm trying to keep the dual-engine system from the HB1 but with updated engines. Also some sort of nose or chin mounted weapon for the pilot. I was thinking maybe to give it wings as well.

You should replace the current two-engine pod style with a four engine configuration consisting of a pilot pod in front, an engine support structure in back, and a long spinal structure with three LTM attachment points on either side. alternately, you could transport your mechs in pods such as those developed by the "Bradford Rant Institute of Cosmic Kinesis" (Yes, i do remember that from the DBM gallery.) ;P

Your memory is unnatural. You do know that they were based off (half copied =D ) the LU lead up pods, that's where the name comes from.

Just checked, turns out the website still exists! http://www.bradfordrant.org/

I think I might try four engines, it'll depend on how big it ends up when it can hold six LTMs. I'd thought of the spine idea too, I'll probably do it that way.

okay, with these LDD problems, I can't get access to my old ship designs, so I won't be posting them until I can actually get a hold of them. I'm still going with my latest starship project, so that won't be delayed, but otherwise you might not be seeing any capital ships from me for a while.

in the meantime, I have a starfighter to post, I'm still going on with the MSTs (although that's not turning out well either), and I'm still working on everyone's Christmas presents.

now, on to something of more relevance to Mechs and this group. after looking back at ALL my past Mech designs, I noticed something. never, in my entire career of Mech designing, have I ever built a generic, jack-of-all-trades medium Mech! *crickets chirp* okay, not so exciting I guess, I'll just go away now. :P

EDIT: oops. you know? sometimes it's good to read through what you're saying before you hit the "continue" button. anyway, I've begun work on the generic, jack-of-all-trades medium Mech I've never built. hopefully that's more interesting. :P

So I'm almost finished with AE-1 Mountaineer. And yes, there is a reason for that name.
So far I have a heavy CQC loadout, a Long Range loadout and an All Round loadout ready to post, plus the basic mech. I just need to take pictures and then they will be posted!
Like I said on the Mecha Contests group, think Chunk/Forte. 21 bricks for the height too.

So I've decided to try s very ambitious experiment tonight. I have successfully managed to pull it off, mostly.

I'll be posting this secret project tomorrow. Any one who can guess what the project is will recieve extra credit and a cookie.

Your hints are:

It's an anime.

There are a few such creations posted on Mocpages, but they are mostly bionicle/technic based.

Meh, that's because the Mecha Contests thing is both wrapping up a contest and vamping up for one. And seeing as how that has somehow turned into "the Elite Mechaniers contest group" (proverbially speaking), it makes sense that this place has slowed down.

by the way, I could use a little help with something. I'd prefer if the Katana lived up to its name as far as its armament goes, but I'm absolutely stumped on how to make a good curved blade for one.

if anyone would be willing to help, I'd gladly accept it. just one thing, it has to work with a standard MBS's hand (you can get one of the Stone Golem if necessary).

And I'm kinda working on some stuff... eventually...

heh, tell me about it. I came up with the nut-brained idea to build some 5,000+ piece cruiser, and got about as far as slapping some plates together to form the interior. and I also have a dozen or so ideas for Mechs that haven't been thought out in the least bit.

let's see...
-my racer Mech. it's essentially finished, but I'm still experimenting with the head and hands.
-a new hardsuit
-a new light Mech
-a refit of my Corsair Medium Mech
-a spider-like sniper Mech
-a heavy Mech along the lines of Chunk's Pterosaur
-and a partridge in a pear tree. :P
