Bricklink works the same way, too. I actually prefer Bricklink because of the variety. It is sometimes even cheaper than Pick-A-Brick. Would you rather pay a dollar for only ten 1x1 Bricks, or would you rather pay a dollar for sometimes up to even a hundered 1x1 Bricks?

Also, for everyone else worried about postage, you need to think about what you want, how badly you want it, the price of what you want, and how much are you willing to pay. Some stores actually have a ten dollar limit you must reach to buy from because it is not worth their time to spend ten dollars just to ship two pieces or yours either. Always go for the cheaper pieces that are labeled NEW because then, you could wind up getting 250 pieces for just ten dollars! If postage is an issue, then find a way to use the store to your advantage, or browse around enough to see who has all the pieces you want. You can also add stuff to a cart but not buy anything, just like Pick-A-Brick, but you can see which deals are better if you compare the two.

I like BL better because they are a lot cheaper. For example, one time, I got ~250 diamonds (yellow/green) for a penny each. It was awesome! :D

I ordered once from Bricklink and bought several tiny things, some minifig accessories, some LED bricks, and a sticker page. It felt great to be able to get pieces cheap that you could have to buy a whole set for.
Bricklink is cheap and a pretty easy process, and it didn't take very long for the order to arrive, I would recommend it to those who don't want to buy a whole set for a couple pieces, or people who need a lot of pieces fast.

okay. to make an order, you go through the catagories, and on the right of each pic, there is a sigh saying, "quantity" (how many of the item he has), and then a box for how many you want. put in how many you want, then, at the bottom of the page, there is a thing saying, "add selected items to shopping cart". click on it, on each page that you ordered something. then, when you're finished, on the top left coner, there is a box saying, checkout. follow the instructions from there...

It took me a bit to figure it out too. Find the part that you're looking for. Under it should be a list of colors it's available in. Click the appropriate color and a list of them that are for sale should come up. Next to each of these is a 'Go Buy It' button.

It says to add to cart, but then I can't find the cart to actually buy the pieces.

on the top left, there is a sign saying "view cart" to check what's in the cart, and by it is "checkout", which you do when you're finished, and want to buy it...

I'm in the proccess of purchasing all these flowers for a Ceramic Piece that got all cracked. I'm going to glue all those on to it. I don't really care because they're flowers, but what ever ones I don't use will be used for something at some point. I got a ton of Dark Pink. I also will be getting a black cape, and lightsaber blades that way I don't have to steal those for my Sig Fig, got The Series 4 Punk Rocker and Skater minifigs (Not the extra bits) for Sig Figs of MR. LEGO, Knox, a real life me, and I think someone else. I'm also getting hairpieces for Jag and Lwc guy. Minifig heads for Legofreak, Lwc Guy, and Timinater. And then some hairpieces for Clones. The best part is that I'll be getting over 200 pieces for $30!

I usually try and see if there is someone I can buy pieces off of in the same state I'm in before a purchase.

Since shipping time/prices are almost the same from any state to me, it makes no difference where the seller is as long as they're in the contiguous United States.

Well what you do is you loiter around an establishment for a week or two, then get black everything (I would suggest a ninja suit becasue it could cover you face.), get yourself some nunchucks(To be convincing.) and a prybar, wait until 1:00 AM and return to the establishment. When all is calm do what a ninja would do to get inside and find all the gum from underneath the tables (This is where that prybar comes in handy.) and take it and put all the gum in a bathtub full of water. Package the gum in little pieces of paper after you've remolded them and sell them around town. You'll get plenty of money.

Oh yeah, I forget one thing. When you're at that establishment, raid the place of all thing cash and/or coin. :)

Sig Fig = Signature Figure. For the most part, it is LEGO you. Make it as realistic to you as possible or completely fictional. Some people have simple Sig Figs, others are complicated. The whole Idea is just a minifig that appears in MOCs of yours, and sometimes even stories are told with the use of your Sig Fig and other people's Sig Figs that you have made. Sig Figs are just a fun thing people make that describe themselves andothers. With mine, I made it to where I had the same clothes and hair as in real life, but I have Sci-Fi goggles because I like Sci-Fi and gave myself a cloak, an old Lego Star Wars Blaster and double Sided Lightsaber becasue I really like Star Wars, Lego Star Wars and love Darth Maul.

But what use is there for dark red? I can see why you'd need dark green, but dark blue and dark red are basically useless.

And small creations well done are better than large creations in which the only skillfull part is the ability to use cracklink.

Dark red is used for decorating on Castle MOCs, armor on Mech's, detailing on huge monsterous stinrgays, it can be used. Dark blue is basically the same It can be used, that does not make it a useless color, like aqua.

I agree. I hate large builds because all the detail is gone. Yeah, it looks cool, but it no longer seems like every piece matters.

Yes, but I WANT to make something substantial now and then. It's boring when you always have to make something small and see all the huge creations others make, or get pwned in a contest because the other player has a bigger collection. I can't hardly even make a background wall because of too few pieces.

Well that depends on how big you want to build and how big you have been able to build. I'm talking stuff like Blake Baer's Rivendale or LWC's up and coming project which he nabbed a bunch of bricks off the internet just to build.

Big creations are actually quite tricky to make, there are so many problems that you don't encounter in small creations. Such as making it sturdy, making it clean yet detailed (vignettes are too easy in this way, as you can get away with too much detail...)

Nice! I've spent some 200$ over the last few months working towards a large build, I'll probably still need to sink 100-200 more into it before I can start building... And it's a microscale.

That's a great example, and I really like that build. I don't have problems with it because I got to see the build as it progressed with each completed component. There wasn't all this heavy detailing or copy and paste building on a mega scale like That massive microscale thing that was all the rage a month ago: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/357842
It also wasn't so full of all these different colors in a cramped space all within a valley. It may have still used all of that overdose of Bricklink though. It all depends on what the build is, and how many pieces are bought to make build.

Quoting Mister Lego ~
So apparently my order "could not be delivered" for some reason :(

He is sending the order again.

At least he's willing to try again. How close to you was it in shipping before it was lost?

Aww, that's too bad. I can't order any LEGO online(Parents rule >.<). Even though I need the pieces...

Why don't they let you order online?

Hhm, interesting. Hopefully it'll be more user friendly. Apparently he was the founder of "one of the world’s largest online game companies."

I hope to make my first Bricklink order in the next few weeks, I've been checking out the site lately and it's REALLY handy. At last, I can get my hands on needed pieces!

I made my second BL order, it should be here early next week. The stuff was on the higher-priced end ($58 for 175 pieces) but the seller had so much of the stuff I needed/wanted that I bought it anyway. One good thing he had was the old-style flames with the pins so you can connect them together, they were 3 cents a piece so I got a bunch.

Ooo! Those things are fun! Why on earth did LEGO stop making them like that? It let you make huge fire balls and stuff.

Anyone know any good stores that have, like, everything, yet their cheap? I'm trying to buy from the same store, but it's hard when all the stores who have good deals don't have any other bricks I need.
