Comments as prizes seem a little tacky to me, maybe just bragging rights?

Hmmm..... I don't think so, bragging rights sounds a litle I don't know....prejedice.

Prejudiced? How so? Bragging rights basically means the "fame" of winning this contest, nothing against one group of people or anything.

i guess so, but maybe they can have the comments as well? because "bragging rights" doesn't really mean any thing.

To be honest I think comments and bragging rights are both a little tacky and childish. Bragging - now thats just showing off.
Comments - your models should get ratings because people like them, not because you won a competition. In my opinion, just announcing who the 1st, 2nd 3rd would suffice, competitions are there to be a part of and have fun, they shouldn't be there for an ego trip. If you catch my drift :) If yas really want a prize I'll go and buy a small $5 set and send it to LWC Guy to post to the winner...

You misunderstand. I meant "bragging rights" in way so the person who wins gets to say, "Hey, I won a contest," not showing off or anything.

i think your right, just the announcing of the winners should be fine, does anyone think otherwise? we can always change it. p.s. thanks for the offer of the lego set, but i think it'll be fine without physical prizes.

If you just announce the winners, you might want to do it in a special MOCcomic or something.

I know what you meant, and your example is a fantastic example of showing off. Showing off is anything you do to make you or your belongings look/sound supperior above anyone elses. Whether its intentional "showing off" or not is irrelevant to how another person might take it. Just a thought.

I disagree. When you win a trophy, or a competition, you won. You can say to yourself, "I won, I'm good at something,". It's not "showing off" any more than posting an awesome MOC for people to see, or any more than winning something. Regardless of whether or not someone is given comments, or LEGO, they'll still say: I won a contest. Bragging rights is just a way to say "you don't get a prize." No one can control whether or not else brags about something.

It's only fair to allow someone to say that they won a contest on their page.

Anyhow-comments are a standard prize, since most competitions don't have enough funds to get an actual prize. Many people don't really care how they get comments (I didn't at one point, but it didn't feel real...), and many don't get any.

You could design a cool " I won the Ouch contest " label on photoshop or what not and secretly give it to the winner. The winner will copy the code and paste in on his page. You will then delete it and he will have the only " I won the ouch contest" label on Moc.

Yeah, that's easier. Do that and maybe I could design a label and you could approve.

Yeah, check out what C. Alexander Clay did for the winners of the cliffhanger contest. He built like an award recognition moc of sorts, it was good, or you could make the "I won the ouch contest" label and do that, or both. I like those ideas.

WHATEVER lwc Guy does for prizes is ultimately his decision, and we can't ask for anything that would be expensive to buy or ship, or would otherwise inconvenience lwc Guy.
