yeah I would like to know that too! I've sold a few of my creations, it'd be cool to do this as a full-time job!

You need Mark Stafford or Sir Nodroj on here to answer. Didn't Jordon get a internship or something recently?

Hi, sorry guys, didn't mean to abandon you all. The problem with us AFOLs are we are busy with work, family life, contests, our own projects and lots of other things and get distracted easily. Some might say we have the attention spans of goldfish... ;)
I joined this group and instantly forgot I did. A lot of us are tied up heaps at the moment with the MOC-athalon games but will try check in here whenever I can.

I can't answer your first question... I don't know how to get a job as a lego designer any more than you do.

I'm happy to answer questions regarding lighting, build techniques (if I know them) and photographing your mocs etc.

I actually went on the Lego site to apply and, you need a degree in art/design, etc. You need to live in or near Germany or Denmark, AND you need to know the right people (like any art, music job).

Really? I have a degree in Art... I'd love to shift to Denmark if the opportunity arose.

Brickster, have you thought about competing in the MocAthalon? It doesn't start until next week so there is plenty of time for you to find a team and join the fun. Let me know and I'll help you find a team, if you want.~H

How do you get inspiration for your builds? Do you sit around thinking, tinker with pieces, or browse the web?

All of the above. Sorting is a great time to try looking at pieces in a different way and get inspired. Movies, books or even conversations with friends are also good ways to spark an idea. ~H

Cool, thanks! I'll see if I can get any good ideas, as I have plenty of sorting to do before the MocAthalon.

Hello again, mind answering another question? I've read the MOCAtahlon rules, and think I have the gist of it. However, I was wondering if teams are eliminated throughout the competition at all. This is because looking at the Inglorious ABSt&rds page (Congratualtion, by the way!) I saw Heath suggest posting just enough to stay in the competition until the end. So I'm not sure if the lowest scoring team is eliminated each week, or if Heath just didn't want to have to catch up too much at the end. Thanks, L.C.V.

There are no eliminations in the MOCAthalon. What you are speaking of was just strategery. =P Your team builds as much as they can in the 30 days, in the given categories (last year there were 30 categories). You can only build in a category once (if you divide it evenly, then each teammate builds in 6 categories). If your team completes all 30 categories, you may start a second round, same categories, but a person can not build in a category they already built in (a teammate will have to). Our team managed 59 creations, one short of twice through the categories. It takes a combination of quality and quantity to pull off a win (we were 2nd place the year before), so good luck to you and your team!~H

Thanks, this'll definitely help build up our strategy! I hear you're taking a break from the ABSt&rds and trying some judging this year?

No judging, just spectating. I'm attending Bricks By The Bay in March so all of my LEGO time is going to that. Have fun!~H

Hey, all!

I'm currently writing an essay on the culture of AFOL's, and I'm trying to gather some data for my research. I've put together a 10-question survey that shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, and I'd be most appreciative towards anyone who takes it.

Thanks!

I should mention that I have no way of knowing who answered these survey questions, so no names will show up in my data.
