Mr. Eckerson. The extension is a mistake. The bottom line is that if most people were going to enter at all, they would already be working on their MOCs. Are you really expecting a massive surge in entries right at the end of your time window? You should keep to your original time line and close this contest out.
If you look at the numbers, and the communications traffic, you will see that everything has really slowed down on ML. You had a little surge of activity about a week ago, and one more entry yesterday. But mostly...nada. I can't understand why 23 people have joined the contest, but only 5 people have actually entered MOCs. Why did they join at all?
Time to wrap up this "First" contest and move on to a new effort. I recommend for your next effort, you try that "Garrison Commander" challenge I wrote about over on the "Ideas" thread. It might take off. Might start a trend...and after everybody actually gets a squad of ML soldiers what will they do? Build more ML MOCs!
Another idea: Encourage ML group members to build ML sig figs and enter them in Soaps sigg figg contest. Iron Legacy is doing it...and it works like an advertisement for their group. People read: "This is my Iron Legacy sig fig" and it makes them wonder: Iron Legacy? What's that.
We need to get out of this metal car and start pushing. Things are grinding to a slow halt.
Are you guys (Mr. Eckerson, Mr. Flynn, Mr. E) leaving LOTS of positive reviews on ML members MOCs? You gottah do that! It’s hard work…but it WILL PAY OFF. We need to get those guys who are in the contest group to actually post! That is where good team work begins. Encouraging communications make people WANT to be involved. Attack!
