Classic Race Teams at a LEGO show?

Seeing as this project is coming along quite nicely (thanks to all of you signing up and building some stunning models) it's time to think about part 3...

Nick B: Did you look into Brickish? Everyone else; the reason for this is some of the UK builders are thinking about exhibiting at a Lego show.

If you're not from the UK don't worry, if we do this we'll figure out a way of showing all models made (in a printed background maybe - hence the 'Photoshop Project' thread).

Also, there are some corners of the Lego Community who look down on MOCpages, due to the large amount of (and I apologies in advance for the stereotyping) Bionicle/Halo kiddie drama and nonsense that's taken over.

We want to show that there are some awesome builders on MOCpages and encourage others to become part of this side of the 'pages, rather than the get-as-many-I-like-its-as-possible-for-something-my-dog-could-have-built side which gets most of the attention.

Anyway, thoughts on showing the teams, where to exhibit, how to include international members etc all welcomed in this thread : )

Hey! I will be able to do the photoshopping but it would require all the vehicles having good quality images with the same composition and a white background. I'm still up for getting together once Mortal has finished his transporter. Maybe meet halfway at a service station and take photos of the four trucks together (and my 917 which is now very nearly complete) in the truck park?

Yes, I joined the Brickish - will find out what I have to do to get a table. Love Tom's idea, after all the four of us don't live that far apart.

I've had another idea...if we get a table, we need the Le Man Pit Boxes! A few large grey baseplates with the frontage of the Garages? Might be a big task but i have quite a lot of grey. something like the following mega long link. What do you think? a baseplate each?

Lol, De Tomaso I think you might be taking this to a new extreme. What's next, a 1/16 scale race track? =P

Lordy! Fine for me, but it would have to be in 1970s primary colours!

That would look pretty cool. A different colour for each tier maybe?

...Dont worry Thomas - hopefully your creation will be represented in the 'Photoshop project'.

Everyone - Thanks for your comments on my Micro Race Team. Shall I add the post to the group? Hopefully I have inspired others to produce their race teams in micro scale. It only took me about an hour to build and post - just a bit of light relief from the large scale version.

Hmm...do what's this about? A Lego show? Your guy's transporters will be displayed there? What's the date that I need to finish my team? I'm also building a Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage.

Ape, I'd like to send you an email of it so far to see if it'll be on the group's homepage if it's okay with you. My email address is on our homepage. It's only 12 wide, but it's a bit large for my transporter.

Hi LB. Sure; I've just sent you a blank email (my email's on my homepage too). Good luck with the Birdcage - a VERY hard car to make but it'll look ace if you nail it!

Umm...I didn't see your address on your homepage, but I got your email - thanks! Sadly, no opening parts on my Birdcage, but I might make its chassis. No promises though.

Well a few of us went to a Lego show last year and noticed there were no cars there at all, and wondered if ours would be good enough. Nick's now a member of Brickish so it's a possibility

Boy, I wish I could be there!

Hang in there, guys, I'm on the exhibitors' mailing list. They don't seem to get any displays organized until quite close to the date so no activity yet. Fingers crossed....

OK, so it appears we won't be showing any CRTs models at The Great Western LEGO Show this year, but it might still be good to go and meet up?

Date are THIS WEEKEND, 6th and 7th Oct, in Swindon, UK

So, sign-up by commenting below if you're thinking of going (and which date), so if there are a few of us we can meet up outside a la 2011.

I can do Sat and Sun, but Sat is best.

OK all, so we showed some pictures of the CRTs creations to the guys at Brickish (who run The Great Western Lego Show) aaaand...

...they liked them!

As such if we join Brickish (Nick B is already a member) we can create a display for next year. I will add a 'sign-up' sheet into a new thread shortly...

Hi Ape,

I don't think I will ever be able to go, since I live in the US. But will it be possible to include pictures of other member(s) MOCs who were unable to be there?

I think that'd be great. And for those who are non-UK, I think if we all have an input into the display (in ideas, even if not in bricks) then all should get credit and have their names associated with it : )

Cool! And maybe if it's possible to add a link to this group (I don't know what it's called. The type of links that you can point your smartphone at it and it'll bring you to that page).

Yeah, something like this ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/legohaulic/6262057600/in/set-72157627707679686 ).

Are we still going to try to photoshop a picture of all the CRTs cars?
