Thanks for the invite, though I don't think I'll enter anything since I have a large Japanese car and then school coming up. We'll see.

Hi LBJ. Thanks for invite. I really want to enter a car in this contest and I will do my best but life is hectic for me at the mo. You have set the bar very high with your Porsche - I like a challenge :).

R. H. ,

Yeah, things are going to get really busy for me too. Then since you're not planning on entering an entry, do you want to judge?

MortalSwordsman. ,

Well, it doesn't "officially" start until September, but you can add an entry right now. BTW, this contest should end on December 1st.

I suppose that'd be snazzy, since this all goes down in Sept-Dec I should have plenty of time even if I get buried in school stuffs.

Excellent! That gives me plenty of time... hopefully! Thanks for the invite. I know you'd prefer new builds, and I will try to do one; but if I fail, may I post my existing Porsche just before the deadline ?

I probably won't have my golf done in time, but I am interested in judging if you want :)

For those of you who are intrested in judging, please ask Ryan for more details.

Nick,

Sure! go ahead and add it, and I think we're going to allow more than 1 entry; simular to Dan's contests.

I have a few questions. 1. When is the due date? And 2. Is it ok if it is a shell to an rc car? I'm working on a Merkur XR4Ti shell to stick some rc components in. It fits the bill for the german car because it was built in germany (even though it's a ford product) but mine won't have an interior or an engine. Would that be an entry that might actualy have a chance? I might have the full rc done in about 2-3 months depending on the shipping time of the parts. Would downright uniqueness help? Nobody has built one yet. Please give me a reply answering my questions.

Hey thanks for the invite, this sounds like a great contest! At the moment I'm very busy with some things and I've only just started my latest creation and it's not a German car so I can't add it to your contest, so there might not be enough time to make another one after I finish with my current car, so I may need to enter a car I've already posted, proberbly my Volksrod if that's alright. Still I might be able to enter with a new car but most likely I won't be able too

Yes, your Volksrod is okay. You can add up to 5 entries and the judge(s) will use the entry with the highest points - similar to Dan's contests.

Thanks for the invite :)

I think my entry covers all the rules... though unfortunately it's an unfinished model :(

It's the only proper german car I've built so far, so I couldn't enter anything else. I submitted the 2nd WIP page as much more of it is there in that one, and anybody who knows the car or looks it up on google should be able to recognise it straight away.

The actual model is quite a bit further now - the opening top door is 95% done, the interior pretty much done, accessories like mirrors, luggage rack, spare wheel holder, windscreen wiper, indicator lights, dashboard etc are done now... all that's really left is the aluminium window framework, cabriolet hood, front and rear bumpers, and some more aluminium trim around the wings. I've got the parts for the black hood, but can't really build it before getting the window framework done; and since I don't have the parts for that, I can't finish it yet... I don't want to do a third WIp pagge as not only it sort of spams up my page and the site, making it messy and annoying to find the completed model pages, but the car is so near completion, a third WIP page wouldn't look much different to when I eventually post the finished model...

A well let's see :)

Sorry. You can't add that. It must be 100% Lego. :)

Technically it is going to be 100% Lego because I plan to use power functions to power it.

Wait...so can you rephrase what you're building because I don't understand. ;)

My plan is to build a Merkur xr4ti body with legos and order the peices from pick-a-brick. Build it. Stick the power functions into it to provide power. Drive it in the dirt really fast. That's my plan. My 3rd attempt at a Lego rc and the only one I'm building around the power functions.

My plan is to build a Merkur xr4ti....
sounds awesome!! I want to play. But I'm slightly confused too - Will the chassis, wheels etc be Lego also? or is it just a lego shell and power functions bolted on to a traditional rc? Hope that makes sense. Either way it sounds cool.

Im just hoping that having the power functions instead of an interior and an engine wont knock me out of competition.

Oh I get it. I think you need Ryan Link's opinion (as main judge) but I'm guessing he would judge it on merit.

Lego R/C is fine, but double check with Ryan.

I would think as long as it's 100% (or at least 99.9%) Lego, it'd be fine. Just black out the windows so the RC technic stuffs doesn't show too badly. Just my 2 cents...

I don't know, but if Dan doesn't finish his MOC, should we delay the due date? Right now it's not much of a contest.

Don't delay anything for me - I'm back in edinburgh for university now, and won't be back home until the christmas holidays; so the car won't get finished any time before then.

Sorry to hear that but studies come first. I thought you were a bit older than that. I loved being at Uni. Edinburgh is one of the best, what are you studying? I did Surveying.

Haha yes, unfortunately, they do... I'm in third year now, studying for a master's in chemistry. However, the way it works is, if I fail the exams first time round this year, it's automatically turned into a standard 3-year degree and not the 5-year masters; and I only get that degree if I pass the resit. A little harsh, but hopefully that won't happen...

It's not the end of the world if the car doesn't get finished yet; after all, it's only a hobby; and it being unfinished now means I'll hopefully have something to post here when I'm back in december.
