Contest #3 - Battlegroup
Special Theme - Using the three templates given by me, you will create three complimenting units with classes, custom armoring, and weapons. You must use each template given, you may not use a template twice.

Rules-

-The contest will start on March 31st and end on May 1st
-You must use all of the frames given to create three complimenting units with unit-specific classes.
-You may NOT delete any pieces from the templates given. You can, however, reconfigure the pieces given, but you may loose points for this.
-I am going to be the only judge for this contest, I will announce my judging means when I feel the time is right.
-Entries will be judged on quality of the mecha. Picture editing will not increase your score.
-I reserve the right to judge, criticize, score, and rank your entry however I want, using my judging means, and I will not be held responsible for any offense you may take from my feedback.
-If you are going to participate in the contest, you must at least post a comment on all of the other participants' entries.
-The contest is open to anyone until 11:59PM EST, May 1st, the close of the contest.
-You must post a link to the Mecha Contests group in your entry.
-You can only post one entry for this contest, and you may not revise your entry once you enter. You will be disqualified if you delete you entry, bump your entry (remove it from the group then re-add it), or leave the group voluntarily.
-Follow MOCpages rules, Mecha Contests group rules, and have fun building!

Prize - A picture of your mecha battlegroup will be used as the group picture.

Alright, enough official mumbo-jumbo, here's my explanation for this contest.

*Ahem*

You will be provided with three templates stripped down to the frame, which you must modify, armor, customize, and weaponize to fit the class you choose. By class, I mean that I'm giving you freedom to create and define a custom class to fit each mech, or just use an existing one. Making the units work together as a team is a big factor.

I'll be uploading the frames soon, so until then, if you have any questions, please post them below.

I've gone ahead and decided the theme of this contest, but I'm going to wait until LTE officially announces the winner of the second contest before unveiling the theme and rules.

okay, Bio, LTE wrapped up the last contest. can we start this one now? pretty please, with cherries and big superheavy Mechs (who doesn't love those?) on top? :P

yes, the best team is a team of four. however, typically such a team has one individual that serves as a "leader", which may be able to be dropped considering each Mech may very well have the same tactical abilities.

so... one does the heavy weapons/demolitions work, another does sniping and scouting, and the third serves as the medic(or, in the case of Mechs, mechanic)/techie. also, all three need some kind of all-purpose rifle and/or sidearm.

There really isn't a defined formula for the individual classes. You could go by that if you wanted, but coming up with original classes with unique abilities that work together will really help you out as far as the scoring goes.

gotcha. I can't wait to start.

by the way, when you said we're not allowed to remove anything from the frame, does that include things like remove the arms to replace them with arm attachment weapons and things?

Arm attachments are okay as they don't fully modify the structure of the mech.

So in other words, attaching weapons to the arms of the mechs is perfectly acceptable, but replacing most of the structure of the arm is still a no-no? I probably won't be doing it either way, but I just wanted to clarify anyway.

Well, I've been having to write a biographical research paper for my Lit class, so I haven't been able to get it done as quickly as I would have liked. I've got the smallest one (I think you called it a TAM-X?) completely done (weapons and all), but I'm still working on the other two. I've got a pretty good idea of what I want for each one, but I just need to figure out how to make it look good.

nah, I've just been busy. after getting Black Ops a fair while ago and breaking several records with my brother on Kino der Toten (not really :P), I decided to put LDD on hold and spend some time with real bricks making a zombie apocalypse scene. assuming zombies sleep, that truck of mine is gonna be in all their nightmares, ramming them into paste and mowing them down with its multiple Vulcan cannons. :P

the frame is fine, by the way. if you recall, you stated earlier that the the UGM-7 was a base, not a frame. I'd say that's pretty well evidenced here. :P
anyway, it's rather easy to just slap a plate on and fix it, especially since you can't really fix the problem yourself.

I've been busy. I've started work on the TAM-X and the UGM-7. Their armors are complete, I'm just finishing up the weaponry. As a little preview, I'm using the UGM-7 as an artillery platform.

gettin' there. not really, I've been kinda procrastinating on my LDD projects (actually, on just about all computer-related stuff, really). I'm still kinda stumped on what to make the UGM-7 into, aside from just loading it and the other two frames with every imaginable weapon. (hmm, that might not be a bad idea... :P)

okay, I don't think I'm gonna be able to finish my Mechs for the contest.

for about a week and a half I've been feeling pretty sick and have done next to nothing on my computer at all (thankfully, I've had plenty of books to read), so not only do I not have much time to do anything, my LDD skills are getting pretty rusty.

unfortunately I've fallen into the temptations of building with real bricks, and, having finished with a zombie apocalypse scene, disassembled it (bad habit of mine. constantly scavenging bricks from old models), and begun work on a steampunk-y flying ship/boat-house thing-a-ma-jigger, I fear it will take a great deal of effort to get back to LDD and Mech designing.

EDIT: oopsie, another essay. inserting paragraph breaks. :S
