ya george, should we make new conversations, like trucks, or planes, or excavation, or what would you like us to do?

Bartering is a system of trade. basicly you say you will give some one something if they do something for you in return. That is what I hope to eliminate in this group. This group is for honest commenting, not trading "likes" and "comments" like Pokemon cards.

Yes, make some other conversations, the trucks one was just for an example. Make sure not to make them too broad or too narrow of topics tho, ex. moving objects is way too broad. but a topic like 1994 chevy muscle car. is too narrow. the best bet would to make one for muscle cars, or sports cars. Ill fix the tuck one to be a better example.

What a great idea for a group! I won't post any of my MOCs here but I will try to pick a creation or two a week to honestly review.

Can I suggest adding a few things to the rules / homepage?

First, no-one except admins can start a new topic.
Second, people must be prepared for honest reviews. If someone can't take a 2/5 (with reasons why) then they shouldn't be here.
Third, and most important: although this seems obvious, state somewhere if anyone tries to 'trade' comments or likes they will be banned.

Great group idea, I hope it works! If it gets popular you'll need to keep tight control of it though, as the 'traders' will try to join!

I'm not sure I'd add much as an admin, but more than happy to be a moderator (thanks for asking!) : )

There are a few of us in the car world that when we see one of our group comment on a MOC, we all do the same, so hopefully this will lead to some follow-on comments for you guys.

Finally - with my comments please ignore the 'I like it' bit - I rate out of 5. A 3 out of 5 means 'good' so I can 'like' a MOC with 3 out of 5 (or even 2, as 'liking' is different to how good a MOC is).

Thank you Ape Fight, you have been a big help to me and this group. I hope this group grows, people wise, and building talent wise.

I will try to convince some people. My list of faves is half a mile long, so it shouldn't be to hard!

We should. We do need more people for this group to actually work well.

in this context it is offering to give a 5/5 like for a 5/5 like or give a comment for a comment. The other "get your creations noticed" group has become infamous for it and has attracted a lot of negative attention as a result.

worst offenders are actually offering to give 5 comments on the same moc in exchange for giving them 1 comment. Since it has been known that there is a glitch where multiple comments get you on the home page fraudulently.

Those rules changes are pretty much what I would have suggested too. One of the things that is making me regret joining the "other" group is that anyone can start a conversation, so every day you get maybe six new "like me and I'll like you back" convos, and then some kid starts whining that you've "hijacked" THEIR conversation to promote your own latest MOC (not that I do that but others do). Gets very annoying and just shows how short an attention span these types have.

the "honest" ratings and comments thing is what I do already. But I'd also add that just because something is pretty poor is no reason to savage it. My honest opinion is often to simply refuse to comment on certain types of MOCs as honestly if I've nothing constructive to say I'd rather say nothing.

as for voting under 5/5, we should be doing that anyway. Some people are crying that it's bullying to give them a 1 or 2/5, from certain people maybe, but if we are honest with ourselves not that much should ever get a 5/5 anyway.

I think the warnings about trading should be enough to warn them off, but inevitably you will get the odd kid who doesn't read rules who does it anyway. Banning is the only course of action when that happens.

I like to see this kind of passion in this group. The commenting I do the same. If I really dont like it, in order not to be rude, I dont comment. This is really how I think MOCpages should be used. To 1) show your creation to the world, 2) to get feedback and reviews on it, and 3) to get inspiration. Its not a popularity contest. Thats what high school is for!

thanks for the promotion to moderator, I swear I'll try to use my powers for good :)

Just thought I'd mention while I have the chance. I'm also (still) part of the old GYCN group, but I'm trying whenever I can to get them to see that bartering and spamming aren't cool. I doubt it will do any good but if people read it often enough it might sink in.

I'm very much of the opinion, if only one person gets the message, it was worth the effort.

EDIT

sorry guys I didn't realise that moderators didn't have conversation creating authority, feel free to lock the ldd conversation I started if you don't feel it belongs here.

This is true, if you convince only one person of this, "Achievement get!" haha sorry minecraft reference.

About the LDD thread, its cool, I think we'll leave it, I know quite a few people use LDD for creating prototypes, or just because their actual collection of legos is too small to build what they want.

I just reviewed all creations on this page, and I need to say : A whole lot of views, but they all deserve more ratings, my idea.
Very nice group, I enjoy being in it!
