Welcome to the Animators' Club 1st Contest!
The contest starts now! And it ends June 2, 2012. Here are some details about it:
-Create an animation that is preferably between 1-3 minutes long. I will not be strict on the time frame.
-Post it to this group.
-Only post new animations created after 1-24-12!
-The animation can be on anything, but it must follow this group's rules:It must be a Lego stop motion, and cannot have a PG rating. If it doesn't have one, but should, it will be removed from the contest.
-Anyone in this group (even those who don't join the contest) can judge each animation.
-Questions....Ask any!

Have fun!

Yeah. And if you're wondering if Bionicle is okay...It is. Sorry, only one entry is allowed in this contest.

I'm happy there's a realistic deadline, otherwise I won't be here :P
But ofcourse stop-motions take time, I'll just sign up and enter whatever stop-motion I make between now and the deadline.
My last one completely failed though :S
So many hours of work for nothing :'(

Making a stop motion requires a few things: time, a (decent) camera, an imagination and something to put it all together with. I started with a simple walking cycle, and moved on from there. You first set up the figures, and then take a picture. Then you position them in another way and take another picture, until you have a short little scene. Then you throw all your pictures into a movie making/editing software (such as windows movie maker) and you're pretty much done! Play around with the settings until you get the right FPS (Frames Per Second), so that it looks good. You can add sounds and audio, but that requires a bit more time and skill to do. Just a tip, try to keep your camera as still as you possibly can, or else it won't look as good.

Can I add a new conversation to this group, explaining how to make a stop motion? I think that it'll add more contestants to the group, and involove more people, especially those new to stop motions.

You can....Except, make it in the Animators' Club group, not here in the contest.

As far as theme, it can be on anything. A time frame is a good idea - how about preferably between 1-3 minutes?

So, how many entrys can we make? Only one, or can we have multiple? Just wondering, but what movie editor do you use? I use movie maker set to 0.125 sec per frame (or about 8 FPS). Occasionally, I try to use Vegas Pro 8, but after fussing with that, I go back to movie maker :)

Wait, you said it can't have a PG rating? What if I were to do a star wars stop motion and a some clone troopers got shot. Is that ok so long as there isn't any blood?

Some violence is okay. Just not too vivid. If you know what I mean.

So people dying is okay, just as long as there's not a lot of blood and gore?

I forgot to mention that anything containing a Lego stop-motion video is allowed in the contest. So even experiments and tests are permitted. Good luck and have fun!

Sorry, I just saw your comment now. I checked. Your youtube video shows that it was added in March this year, so it's fine.
