Yes, this year we will have a Vic Viper contest again!

Every Vic Viper posted and added to this group between November 1 and November 30, 2013 will automatically participate in the contest.

There will be three judges, just like last year. If you, our mods David Alexander Smith and Senator Chinchilla, agree, we can do that again together. If one of you hasn't got the time for that or wants to participate in the contest, I'm sure we'll find one or two judges. ;-))

It was a lot of fun last year and I'm sure it will be this year, too :-))

The rules are the same as last year:

Every builder can add as many Vic Vipers as wanted.

Each judge will vote his personal Top 5 plus 5 additional models worth mentioning.

Only one model by builder can be voted into the Top 10 of each judge (if there are more than one, we will have to choose our favourite one for the Top 10).

The votes will be counted this way:

#1 - 6 points
#2 - 5 points
#3 - 4 points
#4 - 3 points
#5 - 2 points
#6 ... #10 - 1 point

So the maximum points for a model are 18.

The model with the most points will be our "NnoVVember 2013 Vic Viper of the Month". In case of equal points the public vote will decide (the number of likes).

Hi Vic Viper fans,

how do you think about a "trophy picture" for this year's contest?

The idea is to replace the group picture of the "Owners Club" by a picture of the "NnoVVember 2013 Vic Viper of the Month".

The picture will stay there as a trophy for the winner until NnoVVember 2014.

We have a wrap for NnoVVember 2013!

Lucky Leprechaun's "Sand Viper" was the first and Stuart Lucas' "Blacktron Dodge Viper" was the last Vic Viper posted and added to the Club in NnoVVember 2013 (sorry Eric, your Vipers are cool, but they were too late).

We have a total of 39 models added during NnoVVember 2013 with 31 of them posted AND added during the month. My two Vipers particpate as non-competitive entries, so we have got 29 participants in the competition.

The judging will be like last year: Each judge will name his Top 5 plus 5 additional Vipers worth mentioning.

The votes will be counted this way:

#1 - 6 points
#2 - 5 points
#3 - 4 points
#4 - 3 points
#5 - 2 points
#6 ... #10 - 1 point

So the maximum points for a model will be 18.

The model with the most points will be our "NnoVVember 2013 Vic Viper of the Month". In case of equal points the public vote will decide (the number of likes).

There can only be one Viper in the Top 5 built by the same builder. It's allowed to have more Vipers of a Top 5 builder in the second half of the Top 10, though.

I hope we will have the judging complete until the end of next weekend (Is that OK for you, David and Chinchilla?).

More statistics for NnoVVember 2013 will follow soon...

We (the judges) will also have to talk about two entries that might not fulfill Nnenn's original "Vic Viper Rules":

The 1st one is Chris Roach's Starfleet Viper, which has no single tail fin and no really visible rear side wings. Some little modifications would fix that, but I tend not to accept it as a Vic Viper for the contest.

The 2nd one is Stuart Lucas' "Blacktron Dodge Viper" which has a rear wing based on a single tail stand, but not really a pointed tip on it. For me it still would be OK as a Vic Viper and for the contest.

It would be a pity to disqualify one or both, but rules are rules. We'll have decide this before we start judging...

Yeah, I'm still aware of this. College has just been super busy, it's like all the professors suddenly realize they're out of time to assign things! :p I'll send you that email immediately.

#1: Li Liís Golden Vic Viper
For itís gold, various techniques, gold, clean forward prongs, and gold, Li Liís viper takes 1st place and 6 points.
#2: Blake Baerís Whisker
Blake Baerís viper earns 2nd place and 5 points with its excellent use of translucent bricks and a kitchen utensil.
#3: Nick Brickís Rad Hazard
For itís interesting paint scheme and various curves, the Rad Hazard retrieves 3rd place and 4 points.
#4: Sam Wrightís Space Police I Vic Viper
Sam Wrightís viper secures 4th place with itís uncanny resemblance to KITT and itís vintage throughback, back-when-I-was-your-age feel. 3 Points.
#5: Matt Baceís NNoVVember: Caterpillar D29T Superheavy VV Dozer
For itís ludicrous theme and excellent execution, Matt Baceís viper take 5th place and 2 points.
#6: Andros Tempestís Novvember 2013 LDD
For itís transforming ability and jabby looking front prongs, Androsí viper secures a point.
#7: Achintya Prasadís Scabbard Class Space Fighter
While I still maintain it was a standout ship in its pre-viper guise, Achintyaís ships also works well as a viper, easily securing a point.
#8: Devid VIIís Orange Judge
The Orange Judgeís simple, clean design earns it a point.
#9: AC Pinís Crimson Viper
As any Ferrari fan will tell you, red is better. Ergo, the Crimson Viper gets a point.
#10: Rex Davidís Cold Viper
For its amazingly cold appearance, and cold name, Rex Davidís Cold Viper gets a nicely chilled point.

These are my winners in order!

1 Blake Baer Whisker - superb design, and best use of trans pieces I've seen in ages.
2 Sam Wright Space Police 1 - pure classic goodness, rendered perfectly.
3 Nick Brick Rad Hazard - well shaped classy building.
4 Devid VII Azure Dragonfly - clever, clever design.
5 Matt Bace Caterpillar D29T - industrial hybrid ticks my utilitarian box.
6 LiLi Golden Vic Viper - it's gold yeah!
7 Achintya Prasad Scabbard Class Space Fighter - needle sharp and deadly.
8 Eric Landreneau Cave VViper - just so zany you have to give the guy a credit.
9 Thomas of Tortuga Mi7 JF Interceptor - love the old school feel.
10 Nathanael Kuipers 5892 Sonic Viper - well thought out build,

It's Sunday evening here in Good Old Germany,
time for the results of my judging process in the
NnoVVember 2013 Vic Viper of the Month Contest:

1.) Andros Tempest: Novvember 2013 LDD
The design itself is already really cool, but the transformation function is awesome! It looks equally great in the robot mode.

2.) Sam Wright: Space Police I Vic Viper:
The design works perfectly with the Space Police I colour scheme. It could easily be one of the official SP I models.

3.) Stuart Lucas: Blacktron "Dodge Viper"
Another model in a classic space theme design. This one is a future Dodge Viper "hurting" one of the rules of the "Club" ;-)). Anyway, the transformation of the car into a VV is very clever. With a more articulated tail "fin" it would have been my #1.

4.) Blake Baer: Whisker
An excellent design with a unique colour scheme and transparent bricks used in an extremely clever way as a main design element.

5.) Matt Bace: NNoVVember: Caterpillar D29T Superheavy VV Dozer
A very cool theme based design. The idea of a Vic Viper Caterpillar Dozer is awesome!

6.) - 10), in the same order as added to the group:

- Nick Brick: Rad Hazard
The design is very curvy and very cool, just like the colour scheme.

- Devid VII: Azure Dragonfly
A unique colour scheme and a really cool insectoid design.

- AC Pin: Republic Viper Wing
Great Star Wars design and colour scheme, it feels just right.

- Achitya Prasad: Scabbard class space fighter
Very simple but elegant design combined with a quite classic colour scheme. The size is impressive.

- Nathanael Kuipers: 5892 Sonic Viper
A great way to build an alternative model for a Creator set.

There are two more models which haven't found their way into my Top 10 but I think they are really worth being mentioned: Chris Roach's Starfleet Vic Viper would easily have made it into my Top 5 if it had a "dorsal tail" and more articulated rear lateral wings. And Eric Landreneau was just two days late posting his Cave VViper, so it's an extremely cool December Vic Viper but not qualified for the NnoVVember contest.

So that's it for me, now. Time to sum up the points...

So, here we are, again!

Time for our final statistics.
We have:

Total Vic Vipers added to the "Owners Club" in NnoVVember 2013:
39

And there are some more numbers...

Total Vic Vipers added and built in NnoVVember 2013:
29

Total builders with VVs added in NnoVVember 2013:
19 (including the judges)

Total builders participating in the "NnoVVember 2013 Vic Viper of the Month" contest:
18

Most Vic Vipers posted by one builder:
5 by Rex David
4 by Matt Bace
3 by AC Pin
3 by Devid VII

The first Vic Viper added and built in NnoVVember was Lucky Leprechaun's Sand Viper and the last one was Stuart Lucas' Blacktron "Dodge" Viper. I'm sorry too say that Eric Landreneau was one day late with his extremely cool Cave VViper, but rules are rules...

Out of the contest are the Vic Vipers built by the judges (my two Vipers) plus 8 more models that have been posted earlier than NnoVVember 2013 (sorry, Nick!).

That's it for NnoVVember 2013!

Now it's time for some of us to think about the Classic Space Pocket Money contest during the Winter Holydays and it's less than 11 months until the beginning of the NnoVVember 2014 Vic Viper of the Month Contest ;-)) I hope you'll all be back for it!

Yeah, I probably should have read better. But thanks for the votes! I'm honored to be included in a league of great builders!
