Why do we need to use email to vote?Besides,I don't want to give out my email away. :/

Good question. What is unique about this contest is that we will be able to cast our votes anonymously so that we don't have to worry about peer pressure from having our votes publicly posted on a thread. We want the voting to be as honest as possible without people feeling hurt by questions of "why didn't he vote for me" or "so and so doesn't like me" or whatever. The way we addressed this problem was by taking the voting to an email account we created for the sole purpose of voting in this group. We will ignore non-vote related email and ask that all other group business be done on the threads. We won't contact you for any reason at your return address, even if you mess up your vote. We realize this is a bit of an innovation in MOCpages circles, but it will serve a very important purpose, which is, to bring you the honest appraisal of your peers. If circumstances prevent you from using your email address, we apologize, but we don't want to have separate voting thread for those who can't use the email. It becomes way to messy, and spoils one of the coolest aspects of the Society. Please feel free to hang out and be a part, but you won't be able to compete without using email voting. We hope something works out for you to participate. Perhaps you could create a separate email just for voting with and ditch it when you're done.

You got it! Participate any time you can/want. You have a chance to win any month's contest any time you try. Your rankings will be added to the yearly total even if you skip months. You will just have fewer chances to rack up cumulative points the more you skip. Hope this helps!

Yes there will be a specific topic. (I'm thinking that we should put a list of ideas for the very first month's Challenge Build to a vote as a "Dry Run" for the email voting process. More on this soon!)

Each next month's Challenge Build will be suggested by the previous month's winner. The new topic will be announced on the 1st of each month.

Yes, ABSOLUTELY. And new people can join the group after this month (as I imagine they will when they see some of our MOCs!) The MAIN POINT of the group is to provide regular (monthly) challenges to our building skills to keep us sharp. There will be MUCH GLORY for winning a monthly build.

I will point out, however, that those who compete each month do have a better chance at accumulating points towards our yearlong prizes.

Additionally, no one gets kicked out for not competing, so we gladly welcome all members even if they do not have time to compete at all.

So, enjoy the group any way you like. That's what it's here for!

Cheers!

Alright, so I read your first challenge. Make something out of "useless parts" aka parts that have been specified to have one purpose. 2 questions: Is that right, and when does this round end?

1: Parts that are difficult to use rather.

It would be allowed under the rules as they are currently stated. The rules only specify that the MOC not be previously posted. Personally, I prefer MOCs that were made fresh for the contest. But, the rules do allow it to compete. Does this help?

My gut instinct is to say no. The purpose of the BCBS is primarily to give us new challenges for new builds. I'm in the same boat right now trying to build for the Bio-cup and the BCBS and running out of time and running into a MOC block. I may have to sit this month out here, b/c of time and energy constraints. I wish you luck.

So, I was kinda wondering, (Maybe a little early to be thinking yet) since the yearlong points total didn't get updated, at least, I think it didn't, last month, will it this month? When we have the results of course.

Hey, it's ok. I know that if I were on a trip, my mind would be there, nowhere else. Everyone is entitled to their vacations! Now, there is the matter of stealing your brains back... *shakes excitedly* I'll go get the guns!! >:D

The rules of this particular group are pretty purist, so I will say "no".

A non-contest related thing: woul I be allowed to advertise for a group here ( its called "Piece Out". Its pretty big on Facebook, actually, and now we a have a new message board). Its basically a friendly community with regular contests and good advice ,and we're trying to gather new active members. It would be much appreciated if you would allow me to do so.

We're a horrible bunch of hooligans. Nobody would want to advertise us. I mean, just look at Marko. We've made him become obsessed with tumbleweeds, and we could do the same to you.

Wait, is the bcbs seriously a may-april thing, and not just ending at the end of the year? I just noticed... I was prepared for an epic showdown!

This contest is a year-long marathon of bio-building challenges. It may continue for another year or we may find a new moderator to continue it or we may call it quits. But for now, it's a points race to April. May the best MOCists win. Truth is, the more monthly participants we have, the better chance each person has to gain ground in the points race with a big win. The dynamics of this group are really fascinating.

Did you hear that everybody? There is a "Piece Out" group on Facebook for those who have Facebook access and like to "Piece Out". There, consider it advertized. Hey Johann. What's up?

By the way, I took second place from about 100 12-18 year-olds in the Young Inventor's challenge of the Chicago Toy and Game Convention. That, plus having my first MOTD have got me feeling pretty good!

I don't have Facebook and I don't like that kind of social pages. However the contest seems to be awesome...

Wow, Nathan, that's incredible! Congratulations, my dear, honestly!

Well, I was just trying to give some briefing about what the group is about before you asked, but since you seem to be above all that, I guess it was unnecessary.
Next time I will try to use more vague and generic words, because, you know, what other kind of group would I possibly want to advertise here anyway?

Oh... Sorry, I really thought you were being rude to me. Guess I got a bit stressed...

Anyway, I'm fine. Just posted a new MOC. Oh, and congratulations on the second place and MOTD!

Erm, noob question:

How do I include my MOC in da BCBS (or in any other group)?

Do I simply create a folder named "BCBS", include my MOC in it, put the link on the Entry Thread et voilà? Or is it trickier?

When the votes arrive, 5 points will be awarded for each 1st place vote, 4 pts. for each 2nd, 3 pts. for each 3rd, 2 pts. for each 4th, and 1 pt for each 5th place vote.

When the contest started, wasn't it that you got one point for every person you beat? If you're doing this now, if there are more than 5 people entering, you're kinda stiffing us points that we need.

Also, will the prizes be rewarded as physical gift cards, or digital? I'd rather have a physical one myself, because I'd like to make a trophy displaying the (emptied) gift card for my shelves for 2nd (because I'm totally gonna beat Ben >:D ) Though I guess I can just ask a store clerk for an empty gift card, as use it as a symbol :P

One last thing... can you PLEASE update the yearlong totals? I need to know how important this last month is, because I know it's coming down REALLY close between me and chro. Because I got disqualified in july >:c
