What's a "rut"?

Not knowing what to build or not being able to come up with a new idea or building the same stuff over and over...a lack of inspiration.

Thanks....I try to build something different. Like If I'm into Bionicle, try building system, or the other way round, also getting new parts and joining a contest

I take a break from Bionicle and mess around with system for a few days, or vice versa.

I look at something I'm fanatical about and attempt to recreate something from it

The usual way I get out is by stimulating my mind by either messing with my imagination and creating fantasy world in my mind and creatures to it, or by listening to music, instrumentals recommendably.

For example, as I have formed the draken and the elemental universe in my mind, I quite constantly think of some filling to the world and to a storyline of sorts. Some may have noticed that many of my latest creations are elemental universe related, which come from the ideas I get.

watch tv. spawn ideas, work on my system pieces and bionicle pieces or mix them, experiment with pieces or modify them, or just buy some new sets. lol

I start adding to one base piece until I find a cool looking piece combination, than I try to make it into a limb or torso.

I dump out my pieces onto the floor and stare at them for about an hour until the pieces start forming together in my head. Listening to music helps.

I have noticed that, and I too use that as well. Creating stories in my head seems to give me new characters to base my creations off of. I also write my stories, then I can go back to them whenever I want. It helps with inspiration.

I also work on shaping a story or character before building, I find this helps because I get excited about the moc.
Hope theis helps!

I buy a new LEGO set and use it for pieces or revamp an older MOC. Always works :)
