Here is where you can weigh in on the future of the BCBS. Should it continue? If it does, should the format change? If so how?

Personally, I am thinking of giving the contest part a rest for a while and then using the group to post really big challenges on a more sporadic basis. Another thought is to give the site away to a faithful steward to run the contest for another year. Another thought is to retire the contest part altogether. I want to hear from you. All constructive feedback will be considered. Thanks! ~DG

I personally like it where it is. IMO people haven't been entering lately, because they didn't like the assigned themes.

Making more sporadic contests would make the group to go down eventually. I think the actual format of one-month contest is pretty good, even if people complains about some themes... Well, there are plenty of them! No one can expect to like every one of them! xD

I haven't entered recently for two reasons- time, and lack of interest in the theme (the latter applying specifically to "The Eyes Have It"). I suppose that the theme itself isn't bad, in fact more specific ones might be good, but I think people were put off by the sudden shift from usually broad themes into more exact ones. Just my three cents. ;)

I think you should keep it as it is Nathan. I like those different themes once a month and I always have a lot of fun building entries. I even managed to enter nine times out of eleven so yeah keep it :D

Monthly base is good, maybe still give people some time to "rest". And afterwards, it would probably good to make some rules about which theme should be chosen: I had two themes in the contest that I disliked, the first was where you should build 3 separate MoCs in two weeks, the other was the last one which was very similar to the theme 2 months ago. So maybe a rule that says the winner can't choose something that already was chosen/something too similar or challenges which consume too much time to finish?

I like things as they are. But, everyone is busy, and entry number has been declining. So perhaps having a longer time to build might be helpful? Perhaps every-other-month instead of every month?

I think the largest problem is everyone's lack of availability. Things always get slow this time of year because people are focusing on trying to get through school and other things.

Also, I agree that the themes have been realetively depressing. We started out pretty well, but then everything went downhill (starting with the throne theme). I would suggest a different method of choosing a theme. I think having the person who wins pick the next one is causing the themes to be consecutively similar. I would suggest giving the theme choice to a random member (either by drawing names from a hat or some other way) so that more than just the top five builders in the group (no offence) get a chance to share their ideas. Again this is just a humble suggestion, but I think it would make the contests alot more interesting

The current format is absolutely fine to me. I think you should have a backup/fallback guy so that if you're incapacitated(unable to do anything) computer-wise, then someone could take over until you get back.

I like the format, I think you should try to think of a way to give the winner an advantage without giving them total control over the theme, since the themes haven't turned out too good. Maybe we can vote on 12 themes at the beginning of the year, but you don't announce the winning themes, and when you win a month, you get an extra week? It's just a thought, but I think something has to change, because I can tell people are unenthused, and you yourself seem like you don't want to run it at all. (Update those yearlong totals!)

Maybe you should have some way to have more incentive for people entering for the first time, because lately, it's only been the regulars entering, since new people or people with low scores don't see a reason to enter. I'm not saying there needs to be a prize, but if there's not a reason for new people to join, they won't, and that hurts our scores. (I mean you know how far vorres got ahead, while lately we'be been working our arses off just to scrounge up some measly points!)

Maybe you can also standardize points, so even if only a few people enter, we can still get a decent amount of points.

Sorry for the wall of text XD

Suggestion: The winner picks multiple themes, and the group votes for their favorite.
