I think they mean an actual official Bionicle element, I could be wrong though.

You can use any element you can think of, just push that theme "over the top".
Example: you're building a fire Toa, the fire's EVERYWHERE! Insane, vivid flames engulf him head to toes, enveloping him in fiery wings!
Just remembe that the basic structure of the character can't be much larger than an ordinary Toa.

Of course you can use a custom head. I'm not a judge, but banning custom designs would be ridiculous.

I've got a question. Is it ok if some detail elements exceed the height requirement( wings spikes ect..)?
| June 21, 2012, 3:29 am
Some (probably stupid) questions:

1.- Clothes that aren't made with LEGO Official parts (like a scarf or a cape) are consider custom parts and then not allowed?
2.- Is there a 'sub-round' for losers, or they are eliminated for the BioCup after that?
3.- If a winner couldn't enter the next round, there will be a MOC-off between the ones who didn't pass? (I consider the case that they have the same score)
4. - I have ideas for Futuristic Toa (my category) that can't be used in only one MOC: may I enter with a team of two? (I already know the answer, but anyway)

In category 1, prosthetics, we can have multiple prosthetic limbs, et cetera, instead of just one?

The ideia here is to build a Toa or a Hero with many colors, but that doesn't look bad. The better he looks with those colors, the best your moc will be. Because usually rainbon warriors are very ugly, so that's the challenge here.

Yes, but try not to make to many prosthetic looking limbs as that will make it look more like something natural from the character rather than a prosthetic part. What I'm trying to say here is, make most of him non-prosthetic, as in at the very least 51% of him non prosthetic.

1- I allowed that for one guy in the first round, so I'll allow it to you, but make something non-necessary for the design to work, as pictures of the moc without the cape will be required.

2- Until the time being we have no plans for that. So if you lost, you're out.

3- When some of the winners droped out last year, we'd usually put everyone that had lost in the last round against his opponent, and the best of those would be the one to directly compete with him.

4- http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/184/961/tumblr_lnvvueuSsj1qcj56b.png?1318394475

Hahahaha! You'll build two mocs when we ask you to build twoo mocs in the sub-theme, like we had a theme last year that was "twin toas" where the contestants had to build two toas that looked exactly like each other. Otherwise, the awnser is, of course: http://i3.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/007/423/untitle.JPG

I don't think that they're going to made calculations with the scale of the pictures, I think that the 25 cm as a limit should be considered more as a estimation of a cannister style MOC's heigh... 1cm shouldn't be very important =3

Too bad I haven't got your vote, but it's okay. Fenrek also did a nice job with his Rahi, and I most probably wouldn't be able to join the third round anyway.
Just one thing I wanted to ask: Was creativity also judged? Fenrek made 4 spiders and 2 fish-like beings, and I had no same Rahi at my 6 main entrys.

To the second-guessing off myself: I just wanted to add more to the presentation, since I thought only 6 Rahi wouldn't be enough.

A question to Yuri:

Too bad I haven't got your vote, but it's okay. Fenrek also did a nice job with his Rahi, and I most probably wouldn't be able to join the third round anyway.
Just one thing I wanted to ask: Was creativity also judged? Fenrek made 4 spiders and 2 fish-like beings, and I had no same Rahi at my 6 main entrys.

To the second-guessing off myself: I just wanted to add more to the presentation, since I thought only 6 Rahi wouldn't be enough.

In truth, it was quite a close call. I had to consider quality and originality, both overall and for single Rahi. You were evenly matched, but where you had the numbers, FEN REK had a better best one and a better worst one. His overall originality was lower than yours, but his most original was more original than yours. So in the end I think that the overall entry was just slightly better than yours.
That surprised me, because he posted early, and you had plenty of time to outbuild him, even doubling the number if you wanted. Instead, most of your 12 "additional" ones were simply a few pieces stuck together, some did nothing and some didn't look like creatures at all, so they lowered your overall without adding much.

Thanks for the explanation! At least it was a close call :)

I know that I could've outbuild him, but after the first 4 small Rahi i got very low at small pieces to connect the legs and feet! Maybe my fault, because I like to keep most of my MoCs assembled. But, oh well, even when I'm out this early, the challenges were still fun and maybe I'll get further next year :D

Another thing (any judge can answer): Since I already lost this round, can I now delete these weird tablescraps I made for the contest? I really dislike them, and I just want to show off the best 6 as seen on the main pic.
