About overhangs...

I usually do a 1 stud wide black base around my MOCs. I know overhangs were briefly mentioned in the rules, but would a base be allowed?

Okay, I have a couple of questions.
1. Does Catwomen count as a superhero?
2. Batman's tumbler was mentioned in a category description, is it still okay to build Batman a unique vehicle like for example "The Bat-blimp" or something?

I don't think this was addressed in the prizes section, but say for example one were to come in first place, but they'd rather have the second place prize (not that your work isn't fantastic Mr. Xenomurphy!), is that alright? Then the second place can have the first place prize?

Again, on the prizes front, would they be able to be shipped overseas? I live in the UK.
Not that I'm likely to win now that I've seen who else has joined! But if by some miracle I did...?

1. Well, Catwoman helps Batman from time to time, so she isn't a typical villain. So, yes.
2. Sure. But don't forget, Batman is very popular. Maybe using a different hero is more creative.

Hey just a thought. Any place on the grand prize for you to sign it? Like in a silver paint pen, like the comic book creators do. Having a signed one of a kind Xenomurphy moc is a grand prize indeed.

PS sorry Calin, even though your prize is awesome, not much room to sign on spidey. Lol

Could you define "superhero" from comics, tv series, and films. Is it regulated as, (y) + man = superhero, kind of characters? One could argue Luke is a superhero, his hero math is equal to a Superman. Hero + villian + plot to take over the world x (y) close calls) + (x) hero moment) = saves the day and is a SUPERHERO! Do you want it to be based off characters with comic book origins?

This is simply a "what if" question. I'm going to be away between the end of the first round and the beginning of the second. Now on the odd chance that I make it to the second round, is there anything pressing I'd need to know at that time? Because I probably won't be back online until mid July. Well it is rather marginal, but then again, it is a Frank Miller masterpiece. I will not forbid it, but I don't know the judges' criteria. So if you want to play save, you might want to do something else and save the Sin City MOC for later. I'm eager to see it.

As it turns out, I'm not doing a vehicle anymore as that was more in my brothers' comfort zone than in mine. A reasonable overhang is allowed. Reasonable means not more than about 1 stud and not completely going around your MOC, so that you would end up with a 18 x 18 base.

Im sure we forgot some minor details. No problem, ask your questions here. BUT(!) make sure that youve read the rules CAREFULLY. We will not answer any questions that are covered in the rules thread.

how will the entries get judged? will it be the best few in each category, or will they get ratings, and the highest rated entries go through? or something else?

Entries will be judged on a 0 10 scale by each judge. The four players with the highest scores, advance to round 2, no matter from which category. That is why I'm so proud to have those judges: Calin likes vehicles, the Fisherman likes vigs, Master Shifu likes everyone and Kevin hates everything ;o)

I have an overhang question ... Does that work or am I violating rules?

Okay, one more word about the reasonable overhang, since there seems to be some general confusion about it:
It is okay when a small part of the creations leans over the 16 x 16 edge. A small part means a fig, plants, parts of trees, a brick or two etc. The 16 x 16 base must be recognizable as such. I don't want to see 32 x 32 builds that are on top of a 16 x 16 base.

For example:
http://mocpages.com/moc.php/252710
The tip of some tentacles are clearly outside of the 8 x 8 range, but that is what I call reasonable.

Furthermore, 16 x 16 is really a lot of space. Don't forget this example: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/306862

I hope this makes everything a bit clearer.

Oh wow, that is not how I imagined the judging to go. I may have to switch categories.

Okay, so you say it isn't purist, but then go on and talk only of clone brands and stickers. Are brick modifications allowed? If not, it won't ruin my entry, but it'll make it a bit less recognizable. Thanks, good sir.

So all we need to do is make a good vehicle, on a great vignette, with everything else, and then destroy it all. Then everybody should be happy.

Hey Xenomurphy. I was wondering if we could have a plain white backdrop behind the MOC so that it sticks out. This would be done with paper. Also, can I have an ad on a billboard on my MOC that's printed off the Internet? Thanks

Sure, a white (or any other colour for that matter) background is okay, just like simple photoshopping to clean the image.
And as long as it is nothing offensive, you can put on your billboard whatever you like.

What LukeClarenceVan said.

"Round 1 will have 4 categories. Builders may build in any ONE of the four, it does not matter which category you choose. "
It doesn't say if a player is allowed to post multiple entries under the same category.
I asked because I read in some MOC that it was not the first entry, so I was curious. It's not like I'm going to build something to top my entry anyway...

Ah, I understand now. Those builders broke the rules with their first entry (the max. 16 x 16 rule) and we allowed them to correct their entry until the end of round 1.

Good sluthing Sherlock ;) I suppose 2 days is enough time to build another entry!

I don't think Mr. X's response to Yuri's question implies that you can build another entry. In fact, it sounds like you can't. But I may be wrong...

Xeno ninja'd me in writing his response, so I didn't know the answer until after my comment was posted! And I wasn't actually planning on doing a second build, I was just foolin' around 'n' all! ;)

Hello judges, I have a particular question in mind that I don't see in this thread - may multiple scenes be allowed and then when combined, it would make a 16x16? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Absolutely, as long as the sum is not larger than the 16 x 16 size.

Okay, I just joined this group and was looking around, and I had a couple of questions. (1) Did I have to sign up or something? I thought I saw something about that. (2) How many entries can you submit? (3) Is there some rule about a base or a fringe? I need clarification about what the entry should or shouldn't have. (4) If I sound like I have everything backwards, could you please set me straight? Thanks!

Sorry Ian, you are a little late for the party. Round 1 is over and only the top 4 advanced to round 2. But if you are inspired by the categories feel free to build something Superhero themed nonetheless.
