I don't think so. I'm not good with computer graphics. Sorry.

That's fine, and this will most likely be the last contest that has anything to do with editing on a computer. I hope you compete in the next competition!

well first off, tell me what you (think) you understand about them?

Bio-MOCists build MOCs from a majority of Technic/BIONICLE/HF parts and for the most part build characters based off those in the BIONICLE story. They create their own stories and sometimes collaborate with other Bio-MOCists to expand their stories and also viewers. Many build simpler builds in the beginning as System builders do, but as more parts come, their collection of parts can expand and MOCs can take more shape and become more interesting and appealing, just like System builders would.

Many Bio-MOCists usually have what is called a Self-MOC which is a Bio-MOC of who they are or their main personality, and sometimes more than one is made, just like System builders with Signature Figures (Sig Figs) Bio-MOCists have been known to also complain that others do not understand them because some pieces are hard to find or hard to use because many sets in Bionicle only came with new parts in one color or another which seems to be a little unfair because pieces in the realm of System can be just the same. Just like System builders, in Bio-MOCists, every piece counts for the structural integrity of the MOC and also design appeal. They can sometimes become conceited when they invent new ways to use parts or creat new designs for sections of a MOC, mainly in torsos. This can also be found in System builders, too, just not in the same context unless it was a Mech of some sort. nBio-MOCists also need to bring in the factor of functionality in a MOC because many of their MOCs are characters and they need to be posable in all area like the head, limbs, and sometimes the waist, but System builders can do the same depending on the type of MOC they build.

Many Bio-MOCists have also become popular in their days on the Internet and have large fanbases like Shadowgear, Legofreak, Cody G, Ben Cossy, Callan LoF, Galaxius, and others, which has built their self-esteems to strive to build better. This also gives newer builders a goal to reach. All of which sounds very similar to system builders. Bio-MOCs are one of the more popular themes of MOCs just like themes within System and it all goes back to the popularity of the theme that started it all with Technic's BIONICLE in 2001, just like System builders and their themes of Space, Castle, City, or watever.

My point here is that you don't know what you are talking about because it seems to me that Bio-MOCists seem to have a lot in common in the grand scheme of things. The MOCs may be different, but the idea is still the same, it is just a matter of skill and interest.

'Tis a shame. Thouth the titan sets are useful for system MOCcing.

More technic then system, occasionally they have some good parts for system (like the chain pieces included in Maxilos and Spinax) but most of the time, it's hard to use a lot of technic pieces in a system MOC. I don't have any sets newer than the phantoka though, so maybe they changed since then...

Hi everyone. I'm new to MOCPages (and to this group obviously). Ridiculously excited to see what people put together for the LOTR contest. Sadly I got rid of all of my Lego years ago (without even selling it, aaaaahhh), so have a pretty limited number of bricks as I'm just getting started again.

Which leads me to my next, slightly self serving point. Is there any chance of having smaller scale contests running as well as the main ones? Still using themes maybe, but with a limit to size/number of pieces etc. That way builders with limited collections can still get involved with the group whilst slowly growing their inventories.

Just a suggestion. Feel free to tell me to be quiet and sit back down :-)

Welcome to the group! We often have contests with a size limit, or sometimes a piece limit, so even people with small collections can have fun!
The current contest is about building in the size of architecture sets, for instance, so that's one in which smaller is better. I typically prefer small, well-built creations to larger, but not as detailed/technical creations, so anyone has a chance.
Hopefully we can start using size limit contests more often, those are generally the ones in which we get the most/best entries.
I hope you will be able to enter some contests here, and have fun!

Except that there are almost 250 members in this group, so that would take a very long time.
Generally, we advertise the contest in a few groups so that people know what's going on. I also try to invite new members when a contest is about to begin and increase my activity in the conversation in the group at that time...

Except that there are almost 250 members in this group, so that would take a very long time.
Generally, we advertise the contest in a few groups so that people know what's going on. I also try to invite new members when a contest is about to begin and increase my activity in the conversation in the group at that time...

Make a new thread with all the dates. Simple as that.

Good idea, though our planning isn't that good.
Perhaps we should make a staff group.

Also, since every contest is two weeks, and then the next one starts, all the contests should be roughly the same day, right? (Judging could be squeezed in that time period.) So, since the LOTR contest started yesterday, go two weeks after that, choose a topic from the Contest Idea section, and place it on that date and keep doing that.

Well, we let the winners choose the topic, so we wouldn't be able to choose the topics in advance (I won 2WC 10 so I got to pick the topic for 2WC 11). We've gotten messed up with our dates lately, they usually end on Fridays and start on Saturdays but one of them was delayed...

We did just have one not too long ago. You can also enter in the latest 2 Week Challenge because Bio-MOCs are allowed. In fact, I don't think they were ever banned from most of our previous challenges.

Well it's groups of 5. What you do is you just start going around asking people if you want to team up and once you get five people, you can see if you all agree with one another and you have a team. You make a private group for your team and post the link for your private group and the name your group decided on and list the members of the team. Then invite the judges.

There is also the route of just getting one or two people you want to be in a group with and creating a group people can go to and join by invitation. You look through who joins and who will be on the team. When you have decided your team, the group you made is also your base of operation. Remove the people who are still around that aren't on the team and change the group's name to what your team will be called.

There is also another way to be in a group, but it's not the best. Join the MocAthalon group and just wait for people to say they need one additional person to join to make the legal group of 5.

All of these work, but there is a catch, only up to 2 AFOLs per team so that no team is significantly better because they are all AFOLs. However, there have been teams that have three 17 year old TFOLs and two other AFOLs and all of them have the money to buy bulk bricks and make really great builds and since all the teams have the names of the members listed, you can tell if you'll have a chance of even getting a prize.

Wow, thanks! I read that I Brick had a team for the MA too.. I'm just planning on building until I get a little more recognition on the MOCpages, then maybe I'll get into a MA team, when the time comes of course.

Becuase that is really specific. What topic would you like to make? If it's for a new general conversation, then yes. Anything else, and it really isn't needed.

Has there been a mosaic contest as of late? A mosaic contest would be cool. And for these contests, can you enter creations you have already had uploaded for a while?

And also, when a contest is on, are you aloud to upload your random creations for fun, or are strictly contest entries aloud?

The rules for the group say to only upload entries because this is really just for contests to help everyone improve skills in areas or give motivation to build something. With the extra creations, it becomes an issue.

A mosaic contest sounds interesting, and I think we do have one listed on our ideas page. If it is not it's own category, it is part of one where all forms of art in bricks would be allowed, including mosaics.

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't been active for quite awhile.
As most of you probably know, school started about 2 months ago (at least for me...ugh) and I've been focusing on school and spending my free time on Boy Scouts. So, I apologize to McLegoboy, George, and whomever else this concerns. I'll be posting stuff during Thanksgiving Break and Winter break. Thank you all for understanding.
Goodbye! Gotta bring "moar phat honor to famary!" :(
Miss you guys. :B
(seriously though. I love all of you)
(^Okay, maybe not love.)

Yep. Future contests will be a bit different, but there's never mandatory participation (just recommended) and there's never a requirement that you have to have participated in a previous contest.

I've thought of removing everyone from the group and reinviting them so we can start things up again, but that won't be happening with the MocAthalon going on at the moment.
