I know you’ve all been wondering and now I have an official answer for you…

We have two sponsors for this year's games!

This year’s MocOlympics are proudly sponsored by BrickWorld and Dave Kaleta! (separate sponsors so be sure to give shout outs to both individually)

The Coordinators of BrickWorld have generously donated prizes (to be announced later).

Thank you to Bryan and the whole BrickWorld team! Just call me your errand boy come June!

Be sure to check out all that BrickWorld has to offer at http://www.brickworld.us/

Dave Kaleta http://mocpages.com/home.php/5162 has also offered a $50 downloadable Lego gift card for one of the winners! Dave, you’re a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you so much!

How ‘bout a HUGE thank you for our sponsors!

Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 players AND the T/YFOL (age 14 and under) who survives the longest in the games (unless that T/YFOL is one of the top 4 in which case the prize goes to the next highest ranking T/YFOL in line).

first of all, I'd like to thank our generous sponsors.

then, I'd like to ask, how'd the age of 14yo and under as TFOL/YFOL get sorted? I find that unfair as a TFOL. I think it should be a seperate category for YFOLs and TFOLs, and different age categories.

I'm going to guess that you're 15?

Jokes aside though, I wanted to have a prize for the younger players, those without large collections and those who haven't yet honed their skills to what they're capable of.

I've found that by the time builders start to reach that 15/16 year old mark, they've started to come into their own as a builder (look at Paul V... a JUDGE already and a spot he's well earned). There are simply too many GOOD builders in that age bracket (15 and up) to give the younger (10 to 14) players a REAL chance at getting that prize.

But don't forget, there will MOST LIKELY be a side games during this tournement and there WILL be prizes there as well. I haven't worked out the details yet but you can bet that there's going to be a lot of options for winning something there as well.

Speaking of which... gotta start working on that...

yes, I am 15.

I don't mind having a prize for the YFOLs, I think that's a great idea, I just don't get adding them to young TFOLs...

I thought there should be 3 categories, but if there aren't enough prizes, fair go, you made the best choice. But if there were more prizes, I think there should be the 3 categores of A, T, and YFOLs.

Are you suggesting that I'll fail, and go to the MIT again? sad guy >:1 (jokes)

Short answer is yes, it's about the number of prizes available. The BrickWorld team and Mr. Kaleta have donated prizes for the Olympics this year and I will be donating the prizes for the side games (Not calling it MIT yet because we're not sure that's the direction we're going). We'll see how it all plays out once round one is over.

Okay I have a question what is a TOFL? and what is a YFOL? and what are the prizes going to be? because I'm hoping to make it to the finals and I'm really curios what type of things are given away ~Legionnaire~

A TFOL, or Teen Fan Of Lego, is any builder who is in their teens. A YFOL (Young or Youth Fan Of Lego), is a builder who is younger. Typically the line between TFOL and YFOL is around 13 years old.

Prize update:

Our very own Yuri Fassio has graciously included himself in this year's sponsors for the games! He's donated a small prize (and I'll let him tell you what it is) but there's a catch to it...

This prize will be awarded to the player with the highest ranking "Non-Dio" moc. So basically, any entry that is NOT a dio/vig/figs on a plate is eligable to win. Yuri is the final judge on this and what he says, goes.

If there's any question about this, please direct your question to Yuri. It's his baby.

Thank you Yuri for your generous donation!

I've pulled a Phippy mind blank on that one actually... I already packed up the prizes and they're ready to be shipped and... I can't remember who's getting what (DOH!)

But... I'll do my best to list some stuff here...

Heath is getting The Portal Of Atlantis (8078) from me.

Tom (you) is getting a $50 Lego Gift Card from Dave Kaleta.

And the other prizes in no particular order are:
UFO Abduction 7052
Wolverine Chopper Showdown 6866
Big Ben 21013
Propeller Adventures 7292
A Ninjago Dragon set (can't remember the name) 2260
all from the Brickworld sponsers.

And then there's a couple of other smaller (ten dollar range) sets that I've added to it as well for the 3rd and 4th place winners...

Also in this list is the 1st and 2nd place prizes for the MIT but again, I can't remember who's getting what.

For the winners, you'll just have to wait until you get your prizes to see what treasures await! ;)

Congrats again to all the winners! I'll be hitting the post office next week!
~Chris.

Brilliant, mystery prizes! Thanks for letting us know Chris, i'll keep an eye on the post in a couple of weeks time and see what I am lucky enough to receive.

Thanks once again (as I don't believe it's said nearly enough) to you for running this yearly parade of insanity and drama, for sticking your hand in your pocket for prizes and shipping the sponsors prizes too.

Thanks to Bryan Bonahoom and the Brickworld Team, Dave Kaleta and Yuri Fassio for their generous contributions too. I know there are occasional, well-sponsored contests on Flickr and while Eurobricks and Classic Castle, etc. have some big, single-themed contests every now and again NOTHING in our community has such a big turnout for such a diverse range of categories and skill-levels as does the MOs. Part of this is down to the community here, some due to the kudos of facing (and hopefully beating!) lots of different builders throughout a really varied contest, but some has to be down to prizes too so thanks for making this possible.
