The Mines of Moria! Instead of $80.00 it was $54.00 for Christmas! It has a LOT of castle pieces.

Awesome! I saw that same deal in walmart! And there were only three left, but I wanted to save my money for possibly two smaller ones. :D

My dark ages was ended by buying some military stuff and some custom stuff (helicopters, soldiers, etc.). But what really is my best LEGO buy within the past 1.5 years is the Emerald Night. I love trains, my father-in-law loves trains, so it helped me get back into what I really love, which is evident by my custom train MOCs.

In a nearby store, everything is odd prices. Example: The seaside house (#7346) retails at US$50 but in that store it's like you're paying $70! The best deal ever seen is the City and Friends advent calendars. They retail at US$40 but they were the value of $25! Obviously my younger sister got the Friends one and she likes to mix it with my city.

PS my birthday is Feb. 27! Stay tuned to see what I receive!

And what's cool is that each Speedorz set comes with 6 of the crystals! The regular sets don't come with that many (if any). So I got a Speedorz set that comes with two characters, so I got 12 Chi crystals!

Well, this isn't a Lego set, but is a Lego product. Best deal I got was on Lego Star Wars 3. When it first came out, the price was $78 or something similar. This was at one of those stores that puts an individual price stiker on each item. I found a copy that was marked as being $48 rather than $78. Best deal on a Lego product I've ever seen.

I live in the land where Lego doubles its' prices on everything it sells, even when our dollar is stronger than yours (UCS Imperial shuttle is $600 - $700). Happy Bday by the way.

I have, many times. The best strategy is to get a square box by purchasing at least 75 dollars of LEGO sets in November.

Make sure to get the larger container. It's more than twice the size for exactly twice the price. Get 1x2 bricks and build 2x(however long they need to be) all the way to the top. Build things together if you have time.

Eager to know? Well, I have a lot of "favorite sets" Most of my favorites are the ones I can't bear to tear apart. One set I own, (that used to be mah brothers) Is the bounty hunter pursuit from 2002, (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7133-1) and another one is General Grievous Chase (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7255-1) Which I have assembled. (minus figs) There is also the Death Star, which is cherished, and I would feel very guilty if I tore it down as it was a present from practically all of my family. (Though a few pieces have gone missing from it, to support, er, certain charities of mine ;) )

OH okay cool! I have the General Grevious Chase as well. That has some awesome pieces. It's really hard for me to take down sets of my own. :(

One of my favorites is the Star Wars AAT http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-Armored-Assault/dp/B001GN3FYS

My mom neither! My parents do like my MOCs, especially my mom. She sometimes gets amazed by them although I'm not sure if they ARE good or just because I'm her son...

Here are the ones I like:

Attack on Weathertop

Barrel Escape (assuming Hobbit too)

Mines of Moria

Goblin King Battle

If you're looking for green elements, Attack of the Wargs.

Yes, but the shipping fee is automatically $15, no matter which set you buy. It's good for large purchases like USC star wars, but not for small ones. At least K-mart doesn't put their prices up too much, compared to other stores that is. Can you believe that at some stores Kai's ninjago mech costs $35? NEVER BUY FROM KIDSTUFF IF YOU LIVE IN AUSTRALIA (unless it's an exclusive set).

Hum...I still cant deside between the At-Te or the gunship... I really want the gunship! But I kinda like the At-Te better... and it cheaper! $100+ for the gunship is not worth it to me! Hum... I need really need to get all healed up so I can get my job back! I could pay for the At-Te in 2 months! Or... I just don't know.... and I really really want to get a PaB order!

I've bought them on www.lossestenen.nl, the bricks are a bit expensive there, but there are no shipping costs at a order over 100 EUR, and they have all the bricks I needed.
I've been searching on Bricklink for a while (that's cheaper), but I couldn't find a store with enough bricks and I didn't want to pay multiple shippings).

Okay, that's cool! I'll take a look at that site. Bricklink isn't really the best site to find a shop which sells all the bricks you need, so I only use that site for bulk orders!

I have a LOC checklist:

3 different animal tribes - CHECK
5 different animal tribes - CHECK
A set worth $60 or more - CHECK
The 5 leaders (Laval, Cragger, Eris, Razar, Worriz) - 1 more to go
An animal with 8+ letters in his/her name - CHECK
The Royal Roost Speedor - not yet
The Nest Dive Speedor - I got it on Saturday so CHECK

Saturday was also the day I got my first series 10 figures. I literally felt each and every bag until I could find Mr. Gold - and there was no sign of his hat or lightsaber thingy. I ended up getting the paintball guy, the baseball pitcher, and Medusa who was easy to find.

I don't buy any technic/HF stuff. For one, Technic never interested me and I feel like HF kicked Bionicle out so I have a grudge against anything Hero factory. They really took the Complexity of Bionicles and downgraded it. Most of the HF guys are around 100 pieces or less I believe but Bionicles, without the modern pieces, would have been easily double that. The fact remains that I don't like Hero Factory....at all....

I wish Bionicle would come back, I do remember that they were cool looking! (and still are obviously)

Funny, last night I dreamed that Bionicle came back and they were all weird looking. I was like 'WOW!! Look Bionicle is back! They look a little strange though.'

So you guys think it's worth it? To build a clone base?

That's a LOT of parts and money. I don't build as much Star Wars stuff as I used to :( In the days before I got MOCpages, I had this little Clone Base and my brother and I would reenact the 'Rookies' Episode from The Clone Wars. I think that it will be a cool base! What is your job? If I may ask.

Cool! I sometimes do yard work for my grandmother (when I'm in the States) and that usually pays pretty good. Right now I work at a bilingual school here in Honduras. It pays great! I'd rather nor say how much I get paid though (don't want to stir up any jealousy :P).

Yeah, I have one course this summer. Not too bad, only about 16-20 hours a week :D

Even better, I modified the Black Gate I got so that it still looks like the set but it's only half of the door so that when I get the second set with the minifigures and such (on sale) I'll have one huge double doors instead of two smaller double doors. :D

Yeah...I opted out of that set and decided to save for the Ewok village.

I just got the LEGO chess set and 2 pick-a-brick cups at the LEGO store this past Tuesday! Now I have a good amount of minifigures for the LOM group :D

Anyone else made any recent purchases recently? Are you planning to get some?

Nice loot! Were they the big cups or the small ones?

I'll be going to a store that sells LEGO in a few weeks and I will hopefully be buying (you never know what they will or won't have): A few of the Collectable Minifigures, The Friends Hedgehog set (I want the animal and it has some dark red leaf pieces, don't judge), and also the Ninjago Venomari Shrine set. It has a few useful pieces and I want the Zane minifig.

Also I am going to order some Pick-a-Brick so that I can finish the Lonely Mountain, and a Brickforge order.

Big cups :)

Sounds like a good plan! Yeah, those friends sets have good accessory pieces.

Cool!

You know what stores you are going to buy from? I would recommend, if you want your parts relatively quickly, to buy from a US store; don't have to worry about foreign currency and postal service. Otherwise, if you don't mind something a little slower, I can point you to some excellent (but not exactly cheap!) stores outside the stars and stripes.

Nice! What are some of the things that you got?

Boy did I forget to respond.....

Sorry about that.

Major thing was a haul of 110 2x4 regular light bluish grey bricks. Yeah. Main thing really. I was surprised how hard it was to buy parts in bulk, though.

I don't really buy by favorite store, just by whichever store has all the parts on my wanted list.

I'm planning on buying a few of the smaller sets. One's the iron man VS mandrin, one's the man of steel showdown, and one's the galaxy force blue team. But here's the thing; these three sets have exactly the same sized boxes. Their parts count are also relatively the same. So, why are they three different prices? The galaxy force set is $15, the iron man set is $20 and the superman set is $25? Same parts count, same size box, but what's up with the prices? Is it because of the royalties? Seriously, what 'da brick?

Eh, it depends. If you buy from France, or Blighty, they are usually more expensive, (cause of exchange rates), but other places, I am sure, have dirt cheap prices.

I don't know about sets but buying pieces just depends on what piece you're buying. Whenever I search BL it sorts everything by cheapest to most expensive. Most of the countries with cheaper parts are in Europe.

...thats not what I see. Europeans usually sell in the Euro, or British Pound, which is expensive when converting from dollar to the other currency.

Hmm, yeah, thats probably it. Lego City is probably expensive because, well, have you seen the size of some of the parts used to make, say, the front of a plane? One large piece; I would imagine that it would cost a lot to mold.

Man of steel is a lot more expensive than iron man. Still, at least at hobbyco the new LOTR $15 set has come out. They're copyright, and it's still cheap...

Store PaB cup or online PaB? The former tends to be really inexpensive, and the latter very overpriced...

While more pieces definitely helps, practice and trying new things also gets you skill. However, if you are looking for a good set with castle pieces, the Medieval market village is a great set.
