My family always watches the Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade!
(OR a least my sister and I do...mom and dad are busy cocking:)
Around 4:00 we sit down to a delicious meal...and then play games from like 6:00-8:00! Always fun!

The day after Thanksgiving...(Which kids have off in the schools here) we start decorating for Christmas! Usually we get the tree on saturday though.

Finally Christmas arrives:D

Another then that, what's up?

I was thinking of doing something MOC-related for Christmas, but passed the date to start on that. Still have an idea or two...

Have I told you about my Midak Skyblaster fight today?

On an unrelated note, someone today was questioning the phrase "Holy cow".

I said it referred to a cow that was prepared for a sacrifice.

Am I right?

They make replica ones for 120$+, and they are 100% accurate in scale.
The blade is a heavy duty plastic, and fiberglass, and its filled with LED lights.
Surprisingly they are really fun to beat your friends down with, it makes HD swoosh noises when you swing.

The last one I bought was one of them for EIII.
And then my interest in Star Wars declined..but it will probably be rebooted especially with the new movies...that is..if they won't be bad.

Is it just me, or do a lot of LEGO fans often think in terms of LEGO things? If you see a building, you imagine what pieces would look right for that shape or what technique to use to get a look right, or even looking at how expensive clothes are and thing "wow, and I thought LEGO sets were expensive XD

Oh yeah. Grade 7 I made B, and grade 8 I made A. So grade 9 I might even be the captain . . . That would be cool. B is the weaker team and A is the highest team for junior high.

Yeah, my problem isn't that my MOCs have been last minute (several of my recent ones weren't) but rather that I rush them and don't spend much time on them, and the quality suffers as a result...

Yeah, that's why I don't make full castles (except in microscale, like in my planned entry for the Builder Triathlon), just castle wall segments and towers.

Wow, you're a busy guy! I've considered LOM, because I really enjoy landscapes . . . but I have limited knowledge of the whole thing. Before I joined LOM, I would never have considered myself a castle builder at all, but one catches on fairly quickly. If you're worried about the backstory, don't be- you could go through the whole game without even giving your character a name, if your were so inclined, and just build scenes.

I like those words too! I want a list of positive descriptive words in front of me so I don't use the cool, great, and nice all the time - though like Halhi said, some words I use for those really phenomenal MOCs.

I'd so much rather see the build in person and talk about the building processes and point out all of the little details that I like, but that just takes too much time since there are so many MOCs that you can pick out at least 2 details that are neat.

Ooh, 3!! Nice; I'm expecting something epic and I know you won't disappoint. I've said that a lot, haven't I . . .

I'd only count one of them as "epic" if you call MO round 1 and MO round 3 epic. I dunno, It's along the same quality as MO round 3 and MO round 1.

I built 3 really small vic vipers the other day. They will be the smallest of the vipers in the NoVVember this year (most likely)....if I post them soon enough :/

So in other words it's your best MOC yet?

I hope it will be :D

I like it better than the other ones because it's more complete if that makes sense. With MO round 1 the rock work and ground textures on the left mountain were...well...off :/ MO round 3 could have had the haunted house better detailed (on the outside) as well as the ground for the house. The great pumpkin was neat, but it wasn't as cool as I imagined it would be. I didn't exactly like all of the hands for the grass - I would have liked the grass to be a single color (in the snoopy section), but I lacked that many minifigures. For the party, I wasn't able to do the windows quite right, and I wanted to add a second floor.

I can take more time on this current large MOC than the others because I'm not on a time constraint. With time on my side (sorta), I can re-do sections without worrying about finishing it in a timely fashion.

Okay, that's interesting. Should be awesome. One thing that I'm working on improving is my skillset. I can build mosaics and landscapes effectively, but after that, there's a major drop-off. I guess mecha is okay for me, but I've got to improve a lot.

Who's ready for the Thanksgiving weekend? I know I am!

First off, we don't have school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and the weekend. What's even better, tomorrow, the class periods are shortened, and there is a Powder Puff football game afterwards. For those who don't know, It's when girls play football and the boys are the cheerleaders. And, I'm gonna watch Catching Fire on Wednesday night. Plus, I have family from up north visiting.

So you could say I'm pretty psyched :P

Yeah, it is odd...I've never heard of the power puff football games...

I don't know the where Black Friday started. I believe, though, that Black Friday began with retail stores who were hoping to get out of the black zone and into the red zone by discounting a lot their merchandise. The black zone I think means that stores aren't making enough sales to cover the cost of things and the red zone is a safe zone. So Black Friday started as a way to get out of the black zone where stores do not want to be.

That was just some memory that I had of when I asked how it started a couple years ago. I might google it later though to find out for sure.

That was just some memory that I had of when I asked how it started a couple years ago. I might google it later though to find out for sure.

Ok, so I googled it and I was close.

The red zone as I called it referred to how accountants wrote down their revenue when it did not cover their costs. Black ink (or as I put it, Black zone) showed revenue that started to become profit for the company. From January through November, stores used to be operating in that loss (red ink). The day after Thanksgiving started the Christmas shopping season which brought those stores out of the red and into the black. For some companies, the income received from Black Friday through the end of the year compensated for the previous 10 months' losses.

Yeah, same here. 3 of our 4 family members are on worship team, so Sundays get clogged up.

Oh cool! Instruments or signing? Or both? Are you one of the 3?

Exactly! That's my job. I love my church's worship team. One the one hand, there's the team that has the super skilled drummer and electric guitarist, and they totally rock out on worship songs new and old, then there's the older team who prefers to do old hymns. Our congregation gets something different every week :D

That's neat! Sometimes (more like every 3 weeks) at our church there are "technical difficulties" that leave the congregation waiting for a video or sound to work. What doe it come down to? Communication. Most of the time someone doesn't tell the visual guy something needs to be done, but then expect the visual guy to know.....uug. It's kind of like....can't anyone tell the visual guy the things he needs to know?! The visual guy is important

Wow, that's pretty long. I'd have to practice 3 hours at least daily on the electric guitar, but I don't have that much time with my school schedule. So I had to stop lessons :/

I plan to go back to guitar lessons once school lets up in about a year :)

It's kind of weird saying it since I'm not even really college age, but yes :D

Music playing isn't for everyone :)
Eventually I'll want to come out with an album with my family, bit that may not happen for another few years probably.

Take a bow man...take a bow! You'll have more than full life, and you'll already be out of school:D

I suppose that's true...I'll be sure to buy it, of course...if it's anywhere near the LEGO store I might have to stop there first;)

I would describe it as someone who would rather do paperwork...then really hands on stuff. Take me for example, I'd rather do an hour of math...then 15 minutes of science experiments:P It just seems sorta useless to do something that's already been discovered. That's the beauty of LEGO though, there's no mess:D (Well, sorta. It may bring a messy rom;)

It is pretty exciting! I'll be able to get a job soon after or go right for a masters degree. I'll decide that depending on the opportunities that become available. I do it through CollegePlus. It's totally worth looking at even if you won't join the program.

I'd love to go to a LEGO event and actually meet you along with other LEGO MOCers! If I'm going to one, I'll be sure to post here.

Yeah. I had the same thought with chemistry experiments. It would have been cool if the experiments actually looked cool you know? Like making something glow.....or.....something.....physics was more fun for me I can tell you that :)

Oh yeah, that one was pretty bland. IMO there's a reason it took so long to get 10000 (plus it probably won't become a set because it's too general of a contest, and I think there was some Japanese architecture set recently anyway)

somewhere in the early teen/close to teen region.

which means around 11-14. You wouldn't have said the second part if you were a teen, so that eliminates 14 and possibly 13, and you're a better builder and more mature than most 11 year olds.

Yesyesyesyesyeysyes...

Lego and video games.

And an electric guitar.

That is what I want, mainly.

Well guys, I'm sorry, but I doubt I'll be around here at all for a while.

My little brother died a couple of hours ago, at age ten. He was having heart issues.

Garrett,

So sorry to hear of your loss. He will be missed. May God bless you, your family, and your little brother (who we pray is in Heaven), during this hard time.

No matter what happens in life, always remember: God is in control! Never lose the Faith! The Lord tests our faith in Him; but always remember to keep holding on to the Faith!

"Do not fear the path that lies ahead; God will give a road map."

We pray that (your brother's name) may rest in eternal peace and return to his Creator to be with Him forever and ever!

Sincerely,

Thanks Brick, I've never met you on here before, but that just shows how caring a person you, and the people that have replied are.

Seriously, thanks everyone, I didn't expect this many people to pay me much mind :)

Garrett,

If you read this, then know that I am truly sorry for your loss.

I will give neither a religious speech, nor a philosophical one. I will not belittle your suffering by pretending I know how you feel.

I will say this:

Remember your brother with the love, warmth, and fondness that he deserves. Think of him often, for the dead do not pass until they forgotten. But think of the good, of the fun times, of the happiness. Remember him well, and continue to live.

Ever your friend,
Reaper

No, due to genetic issues he was never able to properly eat solids.

:( At least he's in a better place now, where he can eat all the solids he wants.

I've never been a very good catholic but I will pray for you, and my family has been very lucky with death except for my very much loved grandmothr, Ruth. We are convinced she is watching over us, every morning when she got up she would go and feed the birds, her favorites were cardinals. After she died we started seeing cardinals everywhere, like in front of a parking garage elevator my father was about to go into, he instead took the stairs. When he got to the top he heard an enormous crash. Later he found out the crash was the elevator he was about to take! Luckily it was unoccupied but if he was in it he would be dead. What i'm trying to tell you is you may think your brother is gone, he's not. He is still there, yes physycally he is gone, and it is his physycal form that you will miss, but his spiritual form is still there watching over you, protecting you. He's there you just cant see him. My sincere condolonces, Scott Johnson

If only I...
1. did not quit MOCpages.
2. were a better MOCer.
3. knew what to build.
4. were able to hide annoying advertisements from this website.

2. Practice makes perfect, you've been improving lately, the more you build, the better you'll get.
3. Perhaps something that you don't usually do, like sci-fi? At least for me, it's always fun trying to build outside of my comfort zone.
4. :/ I just try to ignore them.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY I BRICK! Congratulations Isaac for making "the biggest group on MOCpages". 150 more members and we might beat the help group.

I can't believe that this group got 800 members in one year. A normal club group gets 30-50 per month, but our average is 67.
