For New Players:

Rainos is one of the most easygoing factions, with the possible exception of the outlaws. A good description of the average Rainosian based on the current players is "Chaotic Good/ Neutral". We are generally more morally guided than the Outlaws and less strict than the Nerogues or Mythronians.

There are many forms of personal advancement for the ambitious Rainosian, including clan leadership and the earning of Honors for voting points. However, if that isn't your style, anything goes.

Our building and minifigure styles are usually (but not always) rougher than those of our clean-cut rival. We use more wood than stone, and we certainly don't have any cut stone buildings beyond those left by the Mythronians. Troops follow the clan dress codes rather than wear official uniforms.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Expanded History:

More than two centuries ago, the armies of Mythron conquered the less-developed island of Rainos when the last local king surrendered at Hadran. The victors seized the territory with an iron fist, establishing their own nobility as the dominant landholders and virtually enslaving the native population, reducing the once-free Rainosians to serfs. Yet time proved that the oppressors could not crush the spirit of the island; even Mythronian overlords began to adopt the local customs. Twenty years ago, with Mythron at its weakest, the newly-appointed Duke of Rainos gathered the armies of the clans in open rebellion. His forces met the knights of the enemy at the Battle of Unbinding, where King Mythron himself was slain. Free at last, the clan chiefs crowned the duke King Bartok I of Rainos... and promptly forgot about him. Now, loosely-bound clans hold their own against attempts to take back the island and usually manage to considerably harm their enemies, the King waits restlessly in his castle, and heroes set out for adventure.

Public Information:

Known Clans:

Dragon Clan- Largest clan in Rainos. Kingdoms series Dragon Knights. Dark Green and black with dark pearl or black armor. Use gold, bronze, yellow, and light green as secondary colors. Relatively civilized with a significant number of elves.

Bull Clan- KK1 villains. Use black, plain red, brown, and old dark-stone-grey garments, often with dragon-styled helmets. Black or brown hair, Norse culture.

Stealth Clan- Band of masked warriors based in the north-east of Rainos. Sworn enemies of the Bull Clansmen.

Iber Clan- Troll torsos with yellow skin. Often carry spears. Black, brown, or dirty-blond hair. Gold or shiny silver armor. Think slightly Spanish.

Orc and Elf Clans- Any monstrous or inhuman minifigures from fantasy-line Trolls to LOTR orcs to sci-if/Star Wars aliens count as orcs, and elves pretty much look like humans except that they sometimes display pointy ears. There are some elves in the Dragon Clan, but there are many more clans of both races that have not yet emerged.

Dwarf Clans-
Believe it or not, no dwarfs have been sighted on the surface of Rainos in the entire history of the game. This may, however, change at any time.

The Final Honor: Epic Last Stand (125 points to unlock, available to players of all factions)

This is the toughest rank challenge in the LOM and is open to all players who have completed four other rank challenges and reached the requisite level of one hundred twenty-five character points regardless of faction. Successful completion of this difficult entry will grant one last voting point (or honorary faction membership and two voting points) and immortality for your character in the lore of all Mythron. Your name and that of your character recorded at the top of this thread, and you may place a specialized faction banner on your homepage or on any of your MOCs.
Again, this is not an easy task. It will take exceptional building, epic combat or drama, hard work, and careful photography. Three judges will compare this MOC to your other work to determine whether you passed your personal average, and only with the approval of at least two of these judges will your entry be considered valid... but there is one more catch: You must kill (or appear to kill) your LOM character. What happens afterward (resurrection, necromancy, plot twists, mistaken identity, or the creation of a new sig-fig) is up to you, but your character must be presented as dead during your next three LOM builds.

Business:

Rainosians will give aid to members of other factions for three reasons:

- Honor
If there is glory to be gained or good deeds to be done (although glory is the preferred cause) and you need an extra person, post your offer here or in the "Crossovers" thread.

- Loyalty
If you are a friend of Rainos, represent an allied faction or wish to recall a debt of service from Rainos, post your request here and it will almost surely be answered.

- Treasure
Most Rainosians love gold and are not above serving as mercenaries to get it, as long as they are not asked to fight against their allies. They will also share in profitable quests and adventures. To professionally contract our services, post here or in the "Crossovers" thread. Acceptable mediums of payment are service debt, character points, free passes and imaginary gold.

I didn't recognize the three pilots at first, but after a second the rubber band gave me a decent jolt. Steven says to tell you that he always wondered what he would look like as a fleshy, and the result is... interesting.
I think the overall effect is good, considering that I unthinkingly used so many rare parts. Russel's shirt is a good marker, and Gormeing has been through so many shapes that this one isn't much of a difference (heh heh heh).

Steven will probably wear a bright red cape, a black barbute (one of the bad guy helmets used in KK2, the Fantasy Era line, and the Black Knight collectible minifigure), his trademark strap, black pants, and a printed dark grey torso in the coming MOCs and fight with an LOTR sword and a dark brown buckler. I'm basing him on Toa Infernum's version at the moment, but I can make changes if the parts are still an issue.
I think I'm out of builder's block, so expect to see him (and everyone else) soon!

Night Reaper, could your recent stronghold be converted into the surface of the outpost (if that wasn't your intention already)? If you have another story typed up for it, disregard what I just said.
Toa, I'm going to find some catacombs and awaken an undead troop of warriors wearing mostly red-and-black armor. Would you like to have Rego accompany me down and and wake up the army (my build) and then fight our way out, picking up treasure if we see any (your build)?
Harek, That Guy, and anyone else who's interested, there are two more tasks for two builders: First, someone has to find out who the zombies are and what they are doing in this old ruin, and second, someone has to find the "off switch" to stop the world from succumbing to this ghastly menace. Who wants what?

Oh, and we need to strategize for the UC:
I would like most of our MOCs to be set on the waters of the blue circle, because WE AREN'T GOING TO LET THE BLUE-COATS LAND. However, if one of you would like to take charge of coastal defenses to make sure no sneaky little marines swim ashore, it would cover the last angle of the invasion. Of course, it is possible to do a two-part MOC and hit them coming and going.

Since we're "barbarians," longships or smaller boats are the preferred vessels. Since we're Rainosians, "dirty" is the preferred fighting style. This might be a serious war, but Jack-Sparrow action is never amiss. FOR RAINOS!

Don't worry, it's going to be fully G and a Mythronian is going to step in, in which case your guy fights the Mythronian and one of my characters steps in and kidnaps the other Mythronian. It could be a deserter of the Bull Clan, but if you want, it can be an Outlaw.

I'm sorry to reject you, but you can't join Rainos' sub-group at this moment for several reasons. First, the Outlaws as a faction are not allied with anyone except themselves, and you have not performed any acts of heroism in the name of Rainos. Second, there are ranks required for LOM players to join other factions' sub-groups in normal circumstances; both the Spy and the Diplomat ranks allow this. Third, you aren't an admin; most of the people currently filling the roles of diplomats are faction leaders.
That said, I'm sorry to say that you can't remain as a member here. You're welcome to visit all you like, though.

That timeline fits perfect because it won't be till after the current UC that I'll have time to build it. I will knock out my ronin and uc this month then I can get that spy rank with the collab. What are your intentions in Falmor (if you wish to openly discuss them)? If not I can temporarily add ya to my Guild page and we can discuss it there :)

I can confirm that the flag would be red or red and black, but I don't think we have official embassies yet as a result of our governmental structure or lack thereof. What you could do is say that a specific clan has an embassy in Worsan. The faction group has detailed information on their colors and styles, but the most popular ones to imitate are the Bull Clan (red and black with horns here and there) and the Dragon Clan (the "villains" from the past two castle lines, one dark green and the other black and red).

So sorry. I was using your question as a test of my deputies, so I beg your forgiveness of the tardy answer. The ranks in Rainos are called "Honors" and they can be found in the faction group or on the new LOM wiki. The first challenge is "Small Town Hero". You must have twenty-five points to enter, and completion grants you several privileges including the power to form a guild. The requirements are to show your character helping a small town in Rainos.

Once you build your intro, I'll add a points entry for you. This is an example of what it could look like:

Lee Muzzy (Rainos): 25 points.
Character Intro - 5 pts.
Adventuring. FB - 2 pts.
LOM UC: Visiting Worsan- 5 pts.
LOM RC: [Sample Challenge] Winner- 10 pts.
Small Town Hero Rank Challenge- 3 pts.

Your total points (25 in this case) are listed after your username and faction. After that, I list each of your entries to the Lands of Mythron and their respective point values, abbreviated as points. "FB" stands for free build, UC for Universal Challenge and RC for Regional Challenge. Free builds (any builds not associated with an introduction or a challenge of some kind) are worth 2 points each. UCs and RCs are each worth five points for entering with bonus points for winning. Rank challenges (the special faction missions that unlock new privileges such as founding guilds or attacking cities) are worth 3 points each.

I'd love to have you, but don't make your decision based on your guild choice. One of the purposes of the guild feature was to allow for increased collaboration between members of different factions, so it's no problem for an Enalican to be part of a guild founded by a Rainosian.

How about you visit the estate of the character I introduced in my UCA build? He inherited a castle just south of Grorm and, because he is an active member of the Band of the Grey Shield, his steward will certainly let you train with the garrison there or in the surrounding town. The castle is made with light stone grey bricks and the countryside is covered in farm- and pastureland.

I don't know yet. I was thinking of using some kind of Lion Knights, either the ones from the first Knights' Kingdom line or the recent Kingdoms line, but maybe it would be best not to give them any uniforms at all - they are still Rainosians. Whichever one of the three you can do will work great.

Fair enough. I don't need to hawk in the sign-up thread anyway; Rainos is doing well on crossovers from other factions. Concerning the allies thing - you do realize that, although we have the same basic goals (raiding Mythron) we go about it in completely different ways?

Known Clans:

Dragon Clan- Largest clan in Rainos. Kingdoms series Dragon Knights. Dark Green and black with dark pearl or black armor. Use gold, bronze, yellow, and light green as secondary colors. Relatively civilized with a significant number of elves.

Bull Clan- KK1 villains. Use black, plain red, brown, and old dark-stone-grey garments, often with dragon-styled helmets. Black or brown hair, Norse culture.

Stealth Clan- Band of masked warriors based in the north-east of Rainos. Sworn enemies of the Bull Clansmen.

Iber Clan- Troll torsos with yellow skin. Often carry spears. Black, brown, or dirty-blond hair. Gold or shiny silver armor. Think slightly Spanish.

Orc Clans- Any monstrous or inhuman minifigures from fantasy-line Trolls to LOTR orcs to sci-if/Star Wars

Hay Gilbert, how many players are in each clan?

Right, sorry. Let me think... I am the sole member of the Bull Clan, Kaeleb Appleyard is the only one in the Boar Clan, the Stealth Clan has about two members, Night Reaper is the leader of the Dragon Clan, and the others are empty. The numbers don't really matter; the clans exist mostly for the story, and any Rainosian can make up an indefinite number of them. For example, I made up some of the clans for no other reason than to allow for the minifigures I have in my collection.

Sure. You could make up your own orc clan - there are more than one. It might be strange if you aren't an orc, though... unless you mean that its symbol is an orc, like the bull clan's bull. It would be strange if there really were clans made up of cattle and scaly lizards and hairy pigs... but I digress.

Sure. You could make up your own orc clan - there are more than one. It might be strange if you aren't an orc, though... unless you mean that its symbol is an orc, like the bull clan's bull. It would be strange if there really were clans made up of cattle and scaly lizards and hairy pigs... but I digress.

Well it take some thinking but i think i could make a Dwarf clan or an orc clan or an Elf clan,

No, I never encourage faction-crossing! Well, if I do, it's almost always in fun - trying to recruit George Marshall or snapping at people considering crossing from one faction that isn't Rainos to another faction that isn't Rainos. I didn't in this case, though.
In this case, I didn't even suggest it (as far as I know). I merely went with Gabe's suggestions, trying to ease gameplay as I would for any player.

No, not anymore. It seems to be fairly common for all dwarves to have beards. Aragorn mentioned it in one of the LOTR movies, and the brilliant writer Sir Terry Pratchett has taken the concept of dwarfish gender distinctions to incomparable levels.

New Players:

Rainos is one of the most easygoing factions, with the possible exception of the outlaws. A good description of the average Rainosian based on the current players is "Chaotic Good/ Neutral". We are generally more morally guided than the Outlaws and less strict than the Nerogues or Mythronians.

There are many forms of personal advancement for the ambitious Rainosian, including clan leadership, the creation of small towns, and the earning of Honors for voting points. However, if that isn't your style, anything goes.

Our building and minifigure styles are rougher than those of our clean-cut rival.

If you are a friend of Rainos, represent an allied faction or wish to recall a debt of service from Rainos, post your request here and it will almost surely be answered.

And you'll have to add the Romanu clan to the list.

The Romanu's are remnants of an old empire who lend bodyguard services to officials of Rainos as well as seeking revenge against Mythron.

Dress code, armaments and qualities:

Romany soldiers are as elite as it gets, each one is worth at least five average soldiers in terms of skill, their lightning fast reflexes and unequaled training means that they don't require shields, for anything, and are armed with a single sword, generally a gladius(short sword) the Romanu Warrior is clad in enchanted Roman Commander (minifig series) with no headsets unless high ranking and dark red sleeves. They are totally obedient and only ask questions if required and follow orders to the smallest detail. The Romanu's have many knightly qualities including extreme cases of honor, respect, humility and consideration but with no mercy on the battle field.

I see what you mean but there is no "official history" of Mythron, something like...how it all began or empires that came before Mythron or the Arrival of Dragons, just anything! All this stuff so far that people call "history" is just vague storytelling with no guideline! And probably the biggest thing, at least in my opinion, there are no truly clever names for places, for instance I would have called the capital of Mythron something more fancier, something that would suit its description, something like.....Azcantinople, "named after the first king of Mythron". Anyway if you want to see my work it's displayed on a personal group called: the island of Concra-Tunisia

Just clarifying... You saw this, right?
Quoting Creatures/History
The Official History of Mythron!

BB = Before the Battle of Unbinding
AU = After Unbinding

I. 800 BB- A mighty general emerges on the island and begins to unite the dozens of local, traditionally-fractious kingdoms.
II. 800 BB- The Country and then Empire of Mythron developed under the care of this first king and his regal successors. These years were known for petty uprisings, kidnapping, and territorial control by Mythron to gain the whole map.
III. 200 BB- The primitive clans of Rainos are subjugated and incorporated into a new province of Mythron. These following 100 years were considered to be the Golden Age of Mythron.
V. 100 BB- Rot sets into the politics of Mythron. Financial power, bribery, and deceit replaces military might and diplomatic reasoning as the driving force in the kingdom.
VI. 10 BB- The evil king of Mythron who reigned for the last 70 years died, and his successor tried to bring the restless Mythron back together.
VII. 7 BB- Sir Bartok, the Duke of Rainos, leads his province in a war of independence.
VIII. 6 BB- Troop withdrawals from the territory of Bodus cause an increase in crime. Public enemies and brigands establish a brotherhood centered in and around Bodus.
IX. 0 BB 5 years ago- The King of Mythron is killed at the Battle of Unbinding. His eldest son takes the throne and the worst of the fighting ends.
X. 3 AU- The pirate port of Worsan organizes its patrons into an island empire known as Enalica.
XI. 5 AU- A new chapter begins. This is now.

1. 5 AU (Spring)- A feeble attempt at a general Rainosian invasion of Mythron fails to go over.

2. 5 AU (Spring)- Rumors spread of a secret council in Bodus.

3. 5 AU (Spring)- Outlaw council held in Bodus.

4. 5 AU (Summer)- Mythron and Rainos hold a truce to attack and track down the Outlaws.

5. 5 AU (Summer)- Outlaws begin to carry out the plans set down in Bodus. Thousands of diamonds are stolen from Guaire in the outlaws' first strike against the truce between Mythron and Rainos.

5. 5 AU (Summer)- Furious, thousands of Rainosian warriors pursue the outlaws and take control of a monster-infested tunnel leading from Rainos to Mythron.

6. 5 AU (Summer)- The Guaire Diamonds are revealed as fakes! King Bartok of Rainos had a wizard enchant common stones to make them precious and so lure outlaws to Guaire. Unfortunately, some real diamonds were stolen, and some of the enchanted diamonds were preserved from changing back into their original form, so the victory is unclear.

7. 5 AU (Summer)- Outlaws sack Tomeu! This is the outlaw's second strike against the tattered truce between Mythron and Rainos, and both Enalican and Rainosian raiders fight for their shares of the profit. Following the city's capture, reformed outlaws establish the new state of Nerogue, a sub-nation devoted to order and justice. Nerogueians work to maintain positive relations with Mythron, even to the point of reimbursing their former enemies for losses sustained in the battle.

No actually, I feel a bit better now.

Good news my army (1 legion of 5000 soldiers) is split into cohorts, each cohort is 80 soldiers, led by a Centurion. But after some calculation I've discovered that I have 40 soldiers extra, what do you propose I do with them?( I've set aside 2 cohorts for the defense of Romulus)

Actually when I was writing on a moc my iPad corrected me and said Romulus, this was actually better than what I had written so I went with it and actually my clan is based on the Romans. But I'm glad to see someone knows their ancient myths and history...

I really like mythology and ancient history, like Rome and Ancient Egypt an Ancient Greece. Romulus won a fight with Remus about who would get to make a better city( can't really remember) and killed him, named his city after himself(I think).

We'll see how it turns out. The other holders of that rank helped many Rainosians of all clans by fighting against a Mythronian invasion. They were also working more or less directly with some Rainosian players in their efforts. Maybe if you persuaded Kayton to mention the conflict of his clansmen in one of his MOCs you can pass the bar when you finally catch the pyromancer.

I'm announcing a new contest for the faction - Make a blue clan.

We pride ourselves on having no dress code, yet we are invariably identified by outsiders as red. Mythron, on the other hand, sometimes draws people solely because they like or have come into blue minifigure parts. For this reason, I offer a village mayorship to the Rainosian who comes up with the best clan, tribe or fighting force of Rainos that incorporates the color blue, preferably in easy-to-find pieces, into its standard attire. Give us a group or type of minifigures that are both blue-clad and Rainosian, put a description of their way of life on them, and you may have both the control of the village of your making AND chieftainship of the newest tribal superpower. This freebuild contest will run until the end of March, is open to the people of Rainos and their allies and will be judged by a panel of friendly/neutral non-participants. Here is an excellent opportunity to strengthen both yourself and our faction - for the glory of Rainos!

Good day, all. It is my pleasure to announce that the attack on Elpis that we have all been talking about (mostly in the PotP thread for some reason) is now official. The leader of the attack, Adam Brunsting, will announce the terrain of the opening MOC-off by Thursday, April 1 and he and the champion of Elpis will have until Wednesday, April 14 to complete and post their entries. If the defender of Elpis is victorious, life returns to normal... but if Adam wins, up to three Outlaws will have the opportunity to build city defenses against up to three Rainosians with MOCs that show the attacking forces. Good luck to everyone, and remember that we can always change our focus to Mythron if we lose interest!
