( oh, and could you maybe tell me what Parkour is?)

Parkour is the art of negotiating obstacles such as walls, rails, buildings, etc, through physical movements such as rolling, climbing, jumping, vaulting, etc. One can use parkour to scale a wall twice their height, trust me, it's very much possible. LOOK UP PARKOUR ON YOUTUBE, you will be amazed!

King of Rainos (Against the BL and the Outlaw's Organization, too) --- Bartok

I agree with Caleb. Although facilities are freakin awesome, and easier and safer to use, why rely on them when you have a literal world of possibilities around you? Parkour didn't start in facilities, it strted in the great outdoors. Who cares if it's more dangerous? That adds to the thrill and excitement of parkour.

Really? I never did any of that small stuff. I started out big. I only "parkour" when I'm jumping from building to building. I have to jump across three houses when I sneak out from my moms place, so I guess that counts as parkour. I don't normally call it parkour, i just like doing stunts and backflips and stuff.

There are many uses for big muscles. I'll list three reasons.

1. For Show. Everyone likes to show off their Muscles. (If they have any)
2. They make you stronger (duh).. Thus you can lift up heavier objects, or slam peoples's hands down in arm wrestling.
3. It's healthy. Almost everyone knows that it's healthy to stay in shape.

For those of you who don't know, I am about to embark on a long-term and large scale fantasy story. To allow for this, I am going to be building in an entire array of different styles, archetypes and colours to best emulate a complete world in a dedieval-Renaissance time perriod.

I have been stressing over my minifigures recently (I'm a perfectionist) and have come into some indecision;

I would like to hear from each person who reads this what kind of skin tone they use and why, how it benefits and how it detriments.

First:
It's the general convo - people move on and change the subject to what they want to talk about. What did you expect?
Second:
I use all yellow for three reasons. Practically speaking, I only have three fleshie heads. Logically speaking, having multiple skin colors suggests that the people are of different races, and it would be hard for me to explain why my human population is divided into two color groups because facts like that can't be standardized across builders and collections. Aesthetically speaking, flesh tones make yellow look tacky, in my opinion.
There is, however, a way around this issue: I experimented, and there is no visible shade difference between yellow and flesh parts in black-and-white images.

I use whatever fits the character, usually yellow for the humans because that's what I have. I know Brick would make a case for flesh tones, but first you have to look at your resources. Yes, flesh tones look more realistic, but they may be far too limiting.
In my Chronicles of Spiro Delcor, no one seems to mind that Spiro has a yellow head but his assistant has flesh tone.

Round 1 entries were worth 3 points. Round 2 and 3 were also worth 3 points, but successful entries were worth 4. Entries for rounds 4 and 5 were worth 4 points if the builder didn't pass and 5 points if the builder did.

I really liked the idea you mentioned before, having most of the minifigs be flesh, but then the high elves be yellow because they were hallowed by the sun (was it that?).

I use yellow because of the wider range of expressions available, and because I have more of it. Also because that way your character won't look like someone from a different story or movie.

Well, I have 91 points. Not counting the Tourney entries.

You got 5 for the intro, 3 for the round one entry, 3 for the round 2 entry if you lost and 4 if you won, 4 for the round three entry if you won and 3 if you lost, and I wasn't in the tilt, so I didn't pay attention to that part.

Round 1 entries were worth 3 points. Round 2 and 3 were also worth 3 points, but successful entries were worth 4. Entries for rounds 4 and 5 were worth 4 points if the builder didn't pass and 5 points if the builder did.

Oh, I forgot the Tilt entries were worth more points. Looks like I'm in the top 10 then - 91 points!

As promised, here is the link to the WIP of the LAG, or, The Lands of Mythron Alphabetical Guide Project (see why I say LAG :P?). If you haven't been paying much attention to the interchanges in the survey thread, I've been given permission by Gilbert to help breathe life into a dream of mine: to make a guide to help people as they travel on the LOM journey. This guide will eventually be an alphabetical and collective work of many authors and editors designed to help you with any questions as you journey through the LOM concerning factions, contests, geography, stated and unstated rules, common/famous characters, the new landholding and rank information, and much, much more.

This is mainly a shout out to the staff group, saying that I've completed the Introduction, the Table of Contents, and The Suggested Use of this Guide (explaining how to comment, suggest a change, etc.), and a few (again, a FEW :P) entries. While I'm obviously not abandoning the guide now, I'm inviting the staff group to become editors so they can edit and make entries as they have the time to. A few simple steps to how to become an editor is in red on the bottom of the introduction. (BTW Gilbert, since I was able to find your gmail account, you are already an editor.)

As to anyone else who is interested, you can go and look at it now if you wish to understand further what this is about. You can also comment, and, although you cannot edit, you can make suggestions (see the Suggested Use section on this).

Confuzzled? I hope not, but if you are, or if you would like to take a look at some of the details, or are a staff member, here's the current link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1G1CRDZruc1ixQ3aB215-rZMjWEBlit9wnpollBAPB8M/edit?usp=sharing

Philip Sackton finally crosses paths with the Black Lotus? I can't wait for the story. My advice on the pictures is to get a Flickr account - you can upload images there, then copy and paste them to MOCpages as chunks of HTML. Flickr is far more reliable than the uploader here, and it doesn't lower the quality of your images, either.

Exactly what Gilbert said-- this will compile some basic information that's in the wiki, but it is primarily meant to be a guide to the LOM, including answers to FAQs, spoken and unspoken rules, ranks, guilds and the tourney, the new landholding info, points, types of builds, etc. For example, in the future (once draft one has been completed), let's say Bobby comes along and joins Mythron. He totally forgets about the group for half a year, and then remembers it! Wanting to re-enter the LOM with a bang, he decides that in his character intro he'll k*ll King Bartok and his BFF that Bobby invented. Now, before posting his intro, he wonders if he is allowed to k*ll off characters, so, he quickly searches "k*lling", or "characters" in the LAG, and realizes that he's not allowed to k*ll royalty, or people close to them. Thus, he changes his character intro and lives happily ever after!

Sorta see what I mean?

Oh, and your idea about including links to the wiki is good; I'll certainly use that for some of the more complicated entries.

I had the most fun with meteorite strike, until I figured out that you can just make a sloped wall over your opponents station to steer all of the meteorites into your own base. And then, of course, your opponent would do it too, and then you are at an impasse. :P Creationary was fun for a while, too, but then I got tired of it.

King of Mythron --- Sadon
King of Rainos (Against the BL and the Outlaw's Organization, too) --- Bartok

Those characters are all Non-player characters controlled by the whole staff, or characters of staff members. Plus, killing royalty in your mocs is not allowed unless you are given permission by the staff to do so.

I'll wait until the parts hit Bricklink or PaB; the set itself doesn't look thrilling.

When it comes down to it, you're looking at a few big pieces worth about £50 and the rest of the price is Smaug.

Ha, Ha, Ha... VERY FUNNY... Look who is talking. People who build LEGO all day, and can infinitely afford Pick-A-Brick! So. :)

I'm sorry, you must be mistaken. I have but £3 left in my wallet, and build Lego about once every 3 days. Also, I have never used Pick-A-Brick. On top of that, why do you feel the need to spell Lego in all caps? I have a suggestion that could get you more comments on your builds; spend more time on them and try to build some structure or landscape rather that putting some bushes and figs on a plate. I'm sure you do have pieces, since you've used them in your builds in other themes.

I got back from five weeks in Germany yesterday! I was kind of sad to go, but I am pretty happy to have access to my bricks again, if only for four days before choir camp. I also got three very large boxes of Lego before I left for Germany that my grandma picked up for free from some people not wanting their Lego anymore, and now I have a lot of rather old parts to sort (there was other stuff in those boxes, too... Lots of fake Lego, and other stuff, including batteries and a half eaten chocolate thingy). I will also be taking apart my MetalBeards Sea Cow and making some Bionicle Mocs soon...

Man, you... kids! I feel so old. When I got my first Bionicle, most of you were probably still in preschool... if even that.

Anyway, I'll be glad to get a third Kopaka, even if they stuck some gold on him. I really wonder what they'll do with the story now - are they restarting with the original heroes in a slightly-different setting, or are they going to pick up the story where it left off somehow? Why aren't there any cool giants on the display shelf? Are the new "defenders" Agori, Matoran or something completely new? More importantly, is the building system at all like classic Bionicle or is it just another wave of ball-joint skeletons? Most importantly, if this isn't a hoax, am I going to geek out about it as much as I did when I was a kid?

Yeah, I got into Lego when Bionicle was first beginning, even though I never got into the storyline.

Sadly, I suspect this will be a better version of Hero Factory, not a rethinking of their action-figure building philosophy.

Building system is same as HF. Defenders are probably Matoran. The skull spider is the lead villain, the other spiders are included in the hero sets (I think one per set).

Than the old CS sets, of course it is. But can you imagine what the AFOL reaction would be towards a full modern theme in CS colors?

Even if these Bionicles are just reheated HF designs, more people, or at least more FOLs, will buy them for their pedigree.

AFOL reaction sure, but I much prefer Galaxy Squad colors over CS colors :P

Bionicle is kinda different in style from HF, it's more organic and it's likely that the sets will have more interesting/unique designs as a result. I'm just hoping for something as well-styled as the HF beasts from this year (or at least those of the first wave)

What I would really, really like to see is a UCS line of the Toa Mata. An advanced, titan-sized, official Kopaka with a fusion of Bionicle and HF styles would definitely make up for missing the original, pre-Nuva version. Of course, that's never going to happen... but until yesterday that's exactly what I said about Bionicle coming back,

Well, I was almost 2 when the First wave of sets came out, and I remember my brother playing with bionicle ALL THE TIME. Destroying all evil at the end of your story typically has two effects- it makes for a very epic climax, and makes it near-impossible to make a good sequel. That's the main reason I'm worried about Ep. 7.

Okay, sorry to see you go, but I'm more glad that you are able to find a better fit for your character. I think our system is nice in that you can switch factions till 100 points to let people get a feel for the faction and see if it is right for them. May your endeavors in Rainos be fulfilling (though I doubt it.... :P jk)

Sorry to be leaving, but I don't think Nerogue really suits me. Rainos seems to have more opportunities for a story. (You can do whatever you like) I'm gonna be abandoning my current character and making a new one.

Sure, I'll let you in. I kind of have mixed feelings on this: on one hand, you weren't the stereotypical Nerogue. On the other, you weren't the stereotypical Nerogue. You'll fit in more with the dark-sided Rainosian crowd, but you also did Nerogue a great service in terms of story detail by giving it a dark side. Ah, what the heck? Welcome aboard, Joe!

Look, I made one Bricklink order in my life, I hardly have enough rock pieces to edge a 16x16 vignette, I have no green plates in any hue smaller than 2x4, I don't have any round grey tiles and I don't have enough stackable white pieces to make any detailed whitewash walls that aren't all SNOT. What I do have are a bunch of 1x2 and 2x2 tiles and no money to spend. Tiles only go so far.

Yep. Well, all was an exaggeration, but I can get a lot of it done. I'm good at deciphering when there's something I don't know and I need to pay attention to, vs when there's something I've already learned and I can ignore/do homework during

I learned all my Spanish stuff last year by doing the homework ahead of time (after a math test or something usually) so I never had to pay attention.

I get good grades (I think I had the highest grade in my class in math) so the teachers are usually fine with it. I just had one really cranky teacher who would get ann0yed if you even pulled out a book during a work period after you'd finished all your work. Of course, her life dream was to become a plant, so none of the class really listened to her...

My teachers let me browse Wikipedia and BBC news during classes like physics where 90% of class time was waiting for the class to catch up. Well... my physics teacher didn't actually know, but it's the same difference. In other words, I came from a laid-back high school.

In some ways I envy you. It's kinda hard having a lot of pressure on you to perform well on this and to get an 110% on that. I'd prefer to be in a school in which I would work hard because I was driven to, not because I'm trying to get into an Ivy-League college, or a high school in which more than half of the graduates go to Harvard :P

My Spanish class is pretty easy. There are some people that do pretty bad in Spanish class, but since the teacher does it in such a way that there is not much to distract you from learning, people usually pay attention.

I personally have a really easy time in Spanish class, although I heard that if you already know two languages, it is way easier to learn a third one...

I went to a school in which more than half the graduates don't go to college at all (army and tech school). As it happens, colleges look at how applicants take advantage of the resources their school offers - so people who go to schools like mine and take the one AP class offered and still have time for a bunch of electives, clubs, activities and Lego building have about the same chance of being accepted to a high-level college as the prep-school kids who had no high school lives beyond student council and a thousand high-stress college-prep classes.

SHIP typically means a ship, too. It refers primarily to the class of massive, grey movie and TV replicas you see every now and then, made by AFOLs with the patience, money and fandom-loyalty required to spend three thousand dollars and two years building Darth Vader's star destroyer in one's garage.

Wow...only one AP class? That's the opposite of my school, which has an unusually high number of them. Some people go crazy too - I know several people taking 4 APs as a *sophmore*...

SHIP typically means a ship, too. It refers primarily to the class of massive, grey movie and TV replicas you see every now and then, made by AFOLs with the patience, money and fandom-loyalty required to spend three thousand dollars and two years building Darth Vader's star destroyer in one's garage.

Yeah...my SHIP (if I make one) for the MOs will be on the small end (only around 100 studs long, which is the minimum. I'm going for originality - HF and Bionicle pieces will be used...

I should make a SHIP for the MO, too... although I'll probably have to use some pretty strange methods to make something that spans a hundred studs due to parts availability.

True, true. (Although that high school that I mentioned earlier that my brother went to didn't totally engulf his life, just almost :P He still was a section leader in his chorus that is really up there-- as in they've performed almost everywhere and anywhere in front of anyone whom you can imagine, including the President and the Queen of England. The only continent that they haven't toured is Antarctica :P)

At the high school that my brother went to, you could take almost all college classes (at a pretty good college nearby) as a sophomore :P

I had mentioned something earlier about multitasking by building for SHIPtember and MO's at the same time. Now that I think about it, maybe my plans should be less elaborate if I'm still in the bio cup at the time - perhaps I'll just not build for SHIPtember and save my energy for Rocktober...

Funny you say that...

LOM is a fantasy world, so you can write a novel about whatever or whomever you wanted to. That being said, most of the attempts have revolved around a collaborative history of some sort.

Some people have had this idea. Unfortunately, it's hard to write a novel, especially when the history being described is in flux and there is building to do. Maybe I'll try one come this NaNoWriMo: make one all-out effort to write a book for the LOM.
