He's sorta pulling your leg--MOL facts are never true (or rather, they normally have a hint of truth and an overdose of lie/joke-- whichever you prefer).

*beats my chest in pride* how goes our glorious country I hear we are free from the Mythron dogs now

Here's a quick recap:

- We hosted the first annual Tourney, which was won by Andrew the Jedi Ninja with Toa Infernum in second place. Two teams, the Average Gnomes and the Crimson Knights, more or less tied.
- The High King of Mythron was killed, all the enemies of Mythron united under the Black Lotus, we found out that the king's youngest brother had started the Black Lotus to clear his way to the throne, the Black Lotus fell apart and the dead king's middle brother took over
- Rainos attacked Meids and Elpis but captured neither
- We completely re-did the rank system!
- I'm leaving my admin position at the end of the month and a new faction leader is coming in.

Last two years I've gotten out in round 2 with a life size category.

In 2012, it was a life size minifigure accessory. My entry was pretty good but my opponent was Nick V (brickthing), so I didnt really have a chance.

In 2013 I got Life Size Food. I was sick for most of the round and could barely even finish my entry, which is why it wasn't very good. It looked good, but was pretty much all loose pieces..
I'm just hoping for a non-life size category. For round 1 I'm going all out with a spastle build, probably.

Should I get rid of the "Toa" in my username? It sounds kinda kiddyish... :/

Let me offer some ideas:
- You could do "Lord Infernum" if you wanted something more original.
- "Gilbert D'Infernum" has a certain class to it.
- As a Biocup winner, you have certainly earned the right to call yourself "Toa Infernum" if you want to keep it.
- Going back to the first point, I don't see many dukes around - how about "Duke Infernum"?
- You could add some random numbers: "Infy 141".
- A period or other point of punctuation for a second name is fairly common: "Infernum ..."
- Some people use real names.

Technically he should have been disqualified because the rules say one build per round unless other-wise specified, but I didn't want to go all kiddie on him in my first year on the Pages. :P

That rule didn't come in until last year. It all started because of a controversy in the mosaic round (Ian vs Heath) in 2012, when Ian posted 1 great build and Heath posted a ton of okay builds. Heath won. Ian started a big discussion and they decided to make that rule.

Have her come back as a vengeful ghost. Or have it turn out that she was only mostly dead, but recovered and has trained as an assassin. Or have her become a vampire. Or just introduce a new, Kristina-like character.

Woo-hoo! My foot is healed and I'm back in running!

. . . Oh, right. No one cares about that :P

I have tried building (for the first time in a month or two) and it has been going surprisingly well. I'm trying my first ever medieval boat.

Hurry up and post it, we want you back!

That's pretty cool. I'll have to give sketching another try one of these days, but I digress. What I really want to say is that now I'm curious to see what Destrian would look like as a realistic figure.

My second take:
- If the nose curved inward a little more right under the forehead, the face would look a little more natural.
- What are the dimensions of that picture in real life?

It will be! (Especially for keeping track of everything)
Version 1.1 should be ready at the end of the year.

Umm, depends! I have books I would like to read, but in general I'd rather do other things besides read (I do enough of it for school I recon).

That's a fortunate arrangement. I suppose that means that a lot of the homework is supposed to last more than a day. Also, how do the students in your art class look? Are they all serious about art, or are there a few of those st0ner types looking for an easy passing grade? My school had more of the latter than the former in its art program, with the teacher fitting into both categories if the rumors are to be believed.

I just...tried...reading Rise of the Mage. I gave up halfway through chapter 3 - it's pretty good, better than most stories/builds in this group, but he overuses log bricks to the point of being cringeworthy, the textures are awkward, and the builds as a whole aren't nearly as good as I was expecting - he's good, but not "the best castle builder", as some think he is - Luke Watkins, Legonado, and many others are definitely better... Story was also kinda boring at least so far, and the grammatical errors and typos distracted from it.

I didn't think it was unique at all. Luke Watkins and Legonardo have much more unique styles, A P is just another castle builder trying to make boring clean builds, even if they're skillful.

Okay, this is the chronicle that first lured me to MOCpages, so I'm prepared to defend it to a certain extent.

Story:
A P's narrative has an overall plot design unmatched by any I have seen in the LOM or GOH. He planned the entire story beforehand, or so I infer; if not, then he deserves even more respect for creating such a well-linked saga in intervals. Even the great authors tended to ramble and deviate from the main plot when they wrote stories in the form of periodicals, so please give A P credit for foresight if nothing else. It further helps that the story is independent of shared, "multiplayer" worlds so that it remains unburdened by superfluous and irrelevant details. Finally, considering that the plot does pick up as it goes along, I would rate the story at about the same level as Ludgonius' LIU Atlas/Revolutions (which suffers some bad marks from me because of its constant bawdiness) and a little below Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance series (which have about the same plot complexity, but are stretched out over about three thousand pages rather than twelve online posts). No, it's not literature, but it's above the grade and a passable source of entertainment.

Builds:
There are two points which you brought up that I think worth reviewing: quality and personal style. It seems that I started to address them in the reverse order and turned them into a mixed lecture.
In terms of style, let's establish a couple key facts: Luke Watkins is the greatest fantasy builder of this day and all days that have come before. Legonardo Davidy ranks among the imitators of LW's recent style, which is based on building the most deteriorated-looking houses possible, all of which seem to have stone lower floors and half-timber upper floors. You do too, and so do I. A P retired to a dark age months before this revolutionary style even emerged - the game has changed, and the fantasy-building society has moved on as a whole. Before the latest revolution, Watkins still had his distinctive style, but A P was also a leader in his own respect. A P experimented constantly, informing his own wave of similarly-styled houses and buildings. He used rough-stone textures like the one in this build:
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/326383
because the one currently trending hadn't, to my knowledge, been invented yet. Palisade bricks were in style. Also, deterioration wasn't his goal in most of his builds: he valued architectural detail highly and, I suspect, saw rough textures as the way of filling in the gaps. Even so, some of the texturing on this build:
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/332166
is superb, even by today's standards. Oh, and if I haven't mentioned, A P /experimented/ instead of falling into a rut (stone bottoms, half-timber tops, crazy decay all over). I've also mentioned the point of a different era, but now I would like to clarify the main idea: for his time, A P was one of the best. At the time of his last post, I would place him in second above Z Cerberus and below Luke Watkins (although there may be a builder I'm not thinking of because it's 2:00 a.m. and I would be asleep right now if I hadn't seen that heretical comment of yours and decided to stand up for one of the great builders).

Bottom line: A lot has changed in two years, so A P's builds aren't cutting edge, but he's still the kind of builder that you or I would be lucky to match.

P.S. - If you want examples of how much two years really matters, check out these posts dated months after A P's descent into the dark age of med school:

Okay, that comment was probably a bit harsh. I guess my expectations were too high after seeing people like LCV talking about how he's the best castle builder ever. You bring up a good point about him being one of the best of his time, which is more accurate.

Story....I've been reading the Divergent series lately (which is very, very good) so my standards are probably higher than they should be. Again though, I tend to lose interest in mocpages stories and even in some novels (Swiss Family Robinson...)
I guess maybe if I had been reading it while I was more awake, I would have appreciated it more. Like when I was reading your story, I was half asleep and could barely follow what was happening :P

Okay, to address your point about building the same thing over and over again:

I'll just start by saying this: I know we tend to think differently about this - you value originality, I value technique and aesthetic. As such we probably have different opinions, but...

A lot of his architecture looked pretty similar. Uncapped hollow studs in headlight bricks, tons of palisade bricks, and some pillars/stained glass windows were the main features in most of his buildings in Rise of the Mage, at least of the ones I saw. Again, I should probably go back and look at it when I'm more awake...

As to why I don't build anything different? Well, first of all, his story is (I think) set a hundred years or so after the GoH universe, meaning that I assume styles are different. Also...last two times I've tried to experiment, I've had people (*cough*BrickandKai*cough*) basically telling me not to experiment and to stick with normal buildings. I am trying to stop with half-timbered buildings, but most of my recent builds have been very quick builds. Also half timbered buildings work best for villages and such; other buildings are better for cities, which I don't build very often.

Plus, half timbered, dilapidated buildings are best for showing mood - Black Hammer Inn, Unexpected Meeting, etc.

A crossover isn't a challenge or a special type of build at all, it's just a feature of whatever story you're referring too. You can do a crossover for a UC, as well as any other build.

Freeling hasn't been around here in a while, and he has done basically zilch in the staff group...

To demote Free would undermine all delusions of authority here. True, the group is ran mostly by Gilbert and Thomas, and often David FNJ, but Free is the figurehead of LoM, and the closest we have to an owner. He created the group, the factions, the story, the creatures, he got everything started... It would belong to him, if LoM was significant enough for him to claim copyright. The LoM authority falls perfectly within the political spectrum: It has enough structure to support itself and it grants enough freedom to prevent itself from accusations of a dictatorship. So why change anything? Also, if Free was demoted, we'd go the same way as the NC. A perfect replication of the English Civil wars: The old fashioned monarchy (Free) vs. the new-fangled parliamentarians (most likely Brick).

The ABS Brick Bucket Challenge is circulating around! Halhi challenged my sig-fig, who then challenged three of my characters, who have now challenged a lot of you guys. Here's my footage:

Guaire challenges:
King Sadon of Mythron (~ Brick), Freeling and Thomas of Tortuga

Granted, I started the trend of people doing it on their minifigures, but that was just because I didn't feel like showing myself in a video :P

So I think I finally decided on my new character, and I want him to have a boat, not a big boat, a small sleek boat that would look like it would go very fast and only needs one guy to sail it, but also be big enough to a large cargo space, I've try a couple times but I'm just not happy with any of them, so if any of you had a idea I would like to hear it, please.

First, get all your usable pieces for the ship (probably most of your brown pieces). Then, start putting them together in a bunch of different ways until you get something that looks good, then go from there.

Yes, I agree about the intro, definitely. The first half of the show, I was wondering why he was acting so stup!d about everything, but he got a lot better once he had to go do stuff ;) One thing I like- Matt Smith was great at fooling around with aliens, but when he had to be serious and create emotional tension, he got way too dramatic. Capaldi is way better in the show's climax than Smith would have been.

I saw it two days ago. THE POWER OF BEING BRITISH! Capaldi hasn't shown much yet, except some jokes about the Scots, which were good. There were also a few references to earlier episodes, which I liked. Sontaran comedy is awful. That's all I have to say.

The question is, can Capaldi be funny? That scene with the drunk was comic, but also a little unnerving.

Are you referring to the intro by Strax where he blogged about all thirteen-ish doctors and made jokes about ears and chins? What is it with Smith's chin, anyway? His forehead is his most alien feature by far.

It doesn't matter what color you have. Rainos, Enalica and the Outlaws have no official colors, and, even though Mythron is typically associated with blue and Nerogue with green, people from those factions can also wear different colors. The best way to choose a faction is to read through the descriptions on this group's homepage and decide which one appeals most to you.

Hey guys I'm new what faction does the color red correspond too or does it at all? I have a red sufficient and I'm confused

Gilbert summed it up pretty well, although rainosian soldiers most often wear red and black.

I'm not sure if it was Asad or Halhi, back in Halhi's group-hacking phase. I like it, though.

It was Asad - I never really messed with the name. By the way, was the Rhinoseros herders of Guggapaton (or something like that, it was right before Piglot) done by you, or was that Brick?

What, are you saying that you don't take your creations apart within a day of uploading them? I'm too stingy with my parts to leave anything together for long.

Yeah, I even took apart the Black Hammer Inn pretty soon after finishing it...well, after getting back from a week-long vacation that I left for on the day I posted it... I still do have a minifigiure scale piano I made in August 2013 (for that detective story thingy) though

I kept the Black Knight Tavern together for over a month because I liked it so much and I left both Albertus and my Kopaka revamp together because I didn't need the parts (and because they were awesome). The record, though, is shared between Guaire the adventurer and Megan (the figure from "Raid"). Those two are coming to college with me. <3

I'm listening to Doctor Who music on Pandora. I recommend it for any Whovians who want to reminisce or learn to recognize the different characters' and species' themes. The Cybermen have a good one, and so do a good few of the sidekicks.

Well, Guaire is closer to a normal minifigure than an actual build... Speaking of minifigures, I suppose I've had the Boss built (with a few gradual mods) since June....he'll be used sometime this fall, whenever I finish my season finale (I just started it on Tuesday)

Pandora or Doctor Who scores? For the latter, you could use YouTube or Spotify (Spotify being the Pandora counterpart with more freedom to choose what one listens to and more ads to balance it). If you want to find Pandora, either get the app or go to www.pandora.com/ Pandora's not the best way to listen to specific songs, though.

Well, they do when non-Rainosians portray them. Less than half of all Rainosian players use red and black armies.

If you do that, your guild members will get 2 pioints for each challenge entry, like a freebuild, or whatever else they use the build as: MBC, UC/RC, Holding.

In other words, no, there won't be any character point bonuses for guild challenges. You could have a separate system of guild points or guild money, though, or you could have your guild work with landholdings and give an extra share of the profits from that to the winners of these challenges. Also, you may be able to host a quest for your guild once the current one (the test quest) is over - that would give you both the opportunity to set challenges and give out extra points for participating (quest builds are worth 3 points).

Let us methodically break down your past situation.

First of all, why did you lose the work? Was it an inevitable technological error or was it due to your possible carelessness? Either way, there is a simple solution to avoid both of those potential problems.
