The activity-bar issue is frustrating, but not unexpected considering the nature of the venue. MOCpages ain't exactly up to code. At least the problem is equally applied to everyone.

Just a heads-up, the ORBAT and T.O. threads are open again.

General Gwain, I'm sorry to see you go, I liked your early models and I thought you had potential as a player. In any case, I commend you for stepping up and letting us know. We've had a few players just go silent or slip out the back door without a word. While I can't argue that you had a great chance to win, you could have made a difference in the outcome. Vacation trumps everything though, so wherever you're going, have a blast! Thanks for playing, and when we recover engough for DA2 We'll send you an invite. Good luck!

To the rest of you, unless Gwain deletes his ORBAT and/or MOCs, he's still in the game. He is still in a TO until the admin of that group decides otherwise. Think of General Gwain as having retreated to his bunker to weigh his options for surviving in a post-apocalyptic world.

GINN reporting

News continues today of riots, power disruptions and growing and more organized fighting around key government facilities. A group calling themselves the Blue Revolution have taken control of one of the largest research and development installations and rumors are that they have equipped themselves with advanced weaponry and upgraded power armor.

The ColCon leadership continues to deny these reports calling them allegations, pandering, and "out right lies". Most of our information, however, is coming from an increasing number of refugees fleeing the civil disruption.

Just joined. So, from what I gather, if I'm assigned a territory, I have to make an army, navy and air armada, along with defenses and buildings? And can I basically make any type of weapon, or does it have to be specific?

FYI I'm lazy to go back and read proper stuff, although I read the rules. If it's to late to join, I'll leave, if not, my forces will be ready.

Step 1) Read the entire convo Mocs=power, it details what you need for a creation. Its basic stuff though, like how to present it, and a few slight nitpicks for each class of unit.
Step 2) Make an infantry moc, must comply exactly with the specs, but you can make a circus army if you wanted.
Step 3) check the ORBAT convo to make your nations stats, for DAS to see.
Step 4) come Friday post your attack to claim your starting territory.
Hope this helps

Commanders.

Read the rules change on the RULES THREAD or on the COMMAND bulletin.

Short Version: Yesterday you were not allowed to attack your friends. Today you cant attack your friends or even friends of friends.

Why the new rule?

Well, it may look like a new rule, but it is actually a refinement, or clarification of the old rule. When I wrote them, it did not occur to me that people would attack friends of friends (the friend of my friend is my friend right?).

Well, with the advent of the "Universal Treaty Member" it becomes necessary to clarify what treaty organizations actually represent.

Nobody but nobody was ever a member of NATO and the WARSAW pact at the same time. Neither organization would have tolerated it.

In pre-WWI Europe, the system of overlapping treaties was regarded as a way to "Lock Down" the specter of war, by making it in essence "illegal".

Well, we all know how well that system worked.

So, there is this "new" rule.

What’s the point of it?

1. It forces a General to literally choose his or her friends wisely. Membership in a treaty organization should not be the casual, and ill-considered decision that it currently is in DA. It should be a major commitment that is made only after exhaustive and deliberate analysis.

2. Nobody is everybody’s friend. Treaty Organizations require... wait for it... DECISION.

What are the anticipated impacts of this "New" rule?

1. Membership in a TO will now have substantial negative side effects (rather like real life actually). And so, I predict that across the board, membership in TOs will begin to decline.

2. Attacks will increase.

BUT...

The general perception that ATTACKS are mostly impossible within the network of TOs is largely overstated. ATTACKS were possible before this change, and will remain so after the change.

SO...

if my predictions are incorrect (as they often are) then the game will continue.

BUT...

You will all be held responsible for knowing the rules,

AND...

Knowing your treaty responsibilities and liabilities.

If you are walking down the lane, hands in your pockets, just-a-whistle 'n Dixie, and not paying attention to your TO landscape, you will suffer (as certain inattentive Commanders already have).

Be informed.
Be warned.
Be trustworthy.
Choose your friends wisely.

Win.

General Ravanchist.

Glad you’re up for it. I remain very hesitant to tweak the rules because play has begun and good rules should be ready.

But since this is a first time run, I feel compelled to adjust the motor while it is running.

Some of you guys will be annoyed by this decision.

I respect the legitimacy of your position. Tweaking (or changing or adding) rules during play IS a bummer. I sincerely agree.

But, after carful consideration, and after considering that the changes apply to all players equally and simultaneously... I have decided to go ahead and do it.

When Mr. Goldman and I decide to do this sort of thing, it is not without carful consideration and more than a little arguing.

Thanks for your continued support, continued building, continued play, and all that other stuff that makes the whole DA thing work!

Again, glad you dig it.

DOUGH! I just went back and re-read it. I found a HUGE STUPID ERROR in the text!

There is a line that reads:

THIS RULE IS NOT EXTENDED TO READ:

It was supposed to say:

THIS RULE IS NOW EXTENDED TO READ:

I hope you knew what I meant when I posted originaly, but if not... well, uh... derp?

Sorry, that error is in just the right spot to confuse everybody.

I fixed it (but it is exactly the kind of error that creates massive numbers of confused questions!).

So don't attack your friends, and don't attack friends of friends!

And don't join every TO on the map!

Maybe next time I should just say that instead!

Sorry about the lack of editing.

Edit!

I fear that the new extention will never allow a single general to gain control of the world. Also, there is going to be alot of TO members dropping out and joining in the final minutes before attacks. What little trust there was between TO members has now been thrown OUT the window.
Oh, I believe you made a linguistic error when writing the extention. Did you mean "NOW" and not "NOT"? You might check that out? (And I apologize ahead of time for any spelling errors I may have made, that is not my forte!) :)

General Criatori.

In order:

Observation 1. "I fear"

Response 1. To start with fear is to end with fear. Crush it under your boot like the parasite it is. Abandon fear and nurture insight.

Observation 2. the new extension will never allow a single general to gain control of the world.

Response 2. Never turn your back on the creative power greed. Greed and a will to rule will propel individuals over, around, and under any and all obstacles. Besides, control of the world is not the goal in DA. You don't have to control the world. You only have to control MORE of the world than any other player, and even then, you only have to do it on the 31st of OCT, 2013. And that, substantially smaller objective, remains completely achievable.

Observation 3. Also, there is going to be alot of TO members dropping out and joining in the final minutes before attacks.

Response 3. Not an unrealistic prediction. Which is why DAS is going to enact two protocols at our level:
A. Manually recording TO rosters before opening AWs.
B. Locking TO THREAD during AWs.
If we could lock TO membership during AWs we would, but we can't so players are cautioned that switches to TO rosters made during the AW are not necessarily going to be reflected in battle outcome computations. Phrased differently, if you want to be sure you know what numbers go into a battle outcome, stabilize your TO membership the DAY BEFORE the AW opens.

Observation 4. What little trust there was between TO members has now been thrown OUT the window.

Response 4. I scoff at this notion. I can no more create and destroy trust than I can create or distroy morals. Trust, is an informal but meaningful connection that exists between two or more players. It is created and destroyed by those same players. Trust is not doled out and then taken away by the DAS. It exists (or ceases to exists) well beyond the pathetic limits of our crude authority. Phrased differently: Any trust that existed between TO members yesterday was the result of those members. Any damage to that trust will be resultant of the words and deeds of those same players. Trust is a concept that transcends petty rules and which defines relationships.

Observation 5. you made a linguistic error when writing the extention. Did you mean "NOW" and not "NOT"?

Response 5. Sister don't I know it! Just the exact error, in just the exact place... to totally confuse the message! Fixed it, slapped my forehead, drank more coffee.

Trust in greed! Greed will conquer all.

I see the god not only sleeps but also cries. Does he burp and fart when one pats him on the back as well?

waaah.

Excuse me, but I burp and fart at all times. So the answer is yes. Why do you ask?
