This month's contest is.....(cue drum roll).... Classic Le Mans Cars!!! The very first Le Mans event was held in May, then they were usually held in June. for this contest, you get to build any classic (up to 1988) Le Mans car! whether it was a winner, or a loser, your favorite team or not, build it!

criteria:
Exterior Shaping: /15
Exterior Details: /15
Interior Details: /5
Engine Details: /5
Functions: /10

Total: /50

(we will try to consider the scale when judging :))

You may add one car, so choose wisely :)

Your entree MUST be a NEW build, it can't have been posted before the contest started

Nice idea for a contest but I have two questions:
1.How much time do we have to build?
2.How wide must be a car?

Hmmm... The Toyota 7 Seems nice for a challenge... Can I add excisting cars? (I've already uploaded a contender to MOCpages...)

Ok time to answer all you questions!

Alex, since Christmas i've been homeschooled, my parents say i have to start by 9:00

Karol, let's say at least 8 wide, so us judges don't have a hard time trying to judge a 4 wide, and I think most people should have enough bricks for an 8 wide :) You have until the end of the month to build one

Loek, only NEW cars. you build pretty quickly, so i think you should be able to make a new one ;)

Alright I am in!. I've picked my car and have started the build. Hopefully I'll have enough parts without having to order more.

Sure, but try in real first ;)

I liked so much my SLS AMG that I don't know if I'll participate of this contest. But, if I participate, I think I'm going to build a car from 1988 (cars from this year are allowed, yeah?)

Well you see, I could build something much better in LDD cause there is lots of snotting elements I don't have.

Having a hard time tearing it to bits? well you could build it in ldd so you have instructions ;) yeah 1988 is allowed :)

What about Technic? you could build a technic moc, or use old technic bricks for snot (unless you mean the tiles? which isn't what SNOT means, a lot of people get mixed up, it's building upside down or sideways)

I will try to make the first large car I've ever made in real Lego, this should be good. If I absolutely fail I will build in LDD, but does it decrease my score?

It won't decrease your score, but of course try in real first, stickers (for sponsors only, no headlights like TLG) are allowed, but try to do as much brick built sponsors as possible, that will raise your score :)

Can I build a 1979 BMW M1 Race Car? Google says it's a Le Mans racer...

And about real, that won't work... Maybe with the 31006 taken apart...

Ok, you can build, well try the set taken apart :) (and of course you can rebuild it later) and if it doesn't go well, you can use LDD
Permalink

Okay, when I tear the set apart there won't be any brick build stickers, is it bad?

No, but say if the details (of the car part) isn't perfect, brick built decals will add a few points to the score :) you can still get a perfect score, but it would be harder to do so

i think you forgot a 'don't' between the 'I' and 'think' ;) well it doesn't necessarily have to be white (like most seem to be) you could build it in yellow, as i see you have the Gallardo (look at your Audi R8, it's even your body icon) set, which should have plenty of peices for the 8 wide requirement :)

I'll try to create something. Not easy to choose and probable impossible to build one in the right color with my smale available parts collection.

I'll see between french and english cars. Porsche and Ford GT40 are too common ^^. Maybe something in 8 wide, maybe 16 wide...

I'll probably have to modelize it with lDraw library :(.

I have 2 possibilities, i'm working virtually on the first one, where the colors are really caracteristic on the original. This one is 13 wide and 28 long.
The other possibility is a car with a strange dark grey color, black can be a solution for it. Smaller scale probably, 8 wide.

maybe you could do both, and pick which one has the better chance at winning, or you can pick which one you'd rather do, i won't take off points for digital :) either way, good luck!

Resisting the urge to post what I'm building, but I'll keep it as a surprise (as I'll most likely do a horrible job of building it!). It is a Nissan, and it didn't do terribly well in the races. I'll leave it at that. I am looking forward to seeing the other entries to this contest!

The virtual one is quite finished, i'm working to integrate the roof pillars correctly. It's a shame, With Bricksmith software on MacOS we can't choose freely the angle between the parts, minimum is 15 then 30, 45, 60 etc.

For the other one, i don't know which one to choose. Maybe the Renault Alpine A442B, the 1978 winner. not sure to have the parts. And i'll need stickers for sure ^^.
