did you even understand what he was saying ?
sometimes,i doubt that there is a god, because my life has been so bad.

i turned to cutting myself, wich is hard to understand to outsiders.
for me it it like re-leasing all my bad thoughts.

therapists don't help.
why pay money for someone to sit there and tell you your problems.

he was saying that when doubt god, just think,
this is it all summed up:
i'm here,so where did i come from?
he said as to how he left christianity, then came back as he pointed out Cons.

he didn't grow up close to god, so he's like the opposite to most of you

he just beleives something different, that's all.

i'm not saying that either of us (me or him)
are right.

People don't understand that with God, your life becomes better. Not neccisarily perfect, but you always know god will provide and protect.

What annoys me is that it was an advert on the top of the conversations page of this group!

"Free yourself from the tyranny of god"

Made me click it because its being advertised!

@The video: Many religions may be wrong, but maybe several may be right? Maybe Heaven is divided in Muslim, Christian and Jewish sections?

@Topic title: Well, he wasn't actually preaching against Christianity in particular, but religion as a whole, pointing out the bad things about religion.

@All Christian posters in this topic:
As Christians, you should respect what other people choose to believe, not only your own beliefs. Some people don't believe in a God, because they have not seen any proof of such a diety. Religion is about faith, not evidence.

Some of the bad sides of religion actually made a point. How many died of the Crusades in the middle ages, because both Muslims and Christians thought they had the right to the Holy Land?
And how many Jews were killed during Holocaust, because of religious belief?

Please, I'm only stating my opinion, no offence to anyone in this group.
In case someone wonders about my own beliefs:
I'm a former Christian, former atheist and current agnostic, on the verge of becoming religious again.

@ArkAngel I'm confused by your statement that 'things just got bad'. Because one person wrote one book? It's not like religion has been moving happily along and -bam!- up jumps the first atheist who ever lived with the proof that it's all a farce. The ideas presented in the video and the preface to his book are written about by many others - heck, he cites Dawkins as key to his deconversion.

@Captain Crunch - I'm really sorry to hear about your struggles. There is help out there. If one therapist isn't working for you, find another - therapy can have real results. Or maybe some sort of peer support network (much like AA works for alcoholics) might be better for you.

@King Borether - I'd urge you to be very careful about throwing pat answers at someone who is struggling with real problems. Just because you follow God doesn't mean that things get better (in a temporary earthly sense) - just think of people like James (executed), Peter (crucified upside down), and Paul (spent a long time in prison, beaten at times, driven out of various towns, ultimately executed). When we are called to 'take up our cross and follow Jesus', that cross can be a very heavy load. He did not come to take away our suffering in this life, but to suffer for us and with us, and ennoble us in our suffering.
When you throw pat answers at someone, it can (and I am not saying that this is what you were trying to say by any means) come across as telling someone that they are suffering because they aren't being holy enough, or praying enough, or following Jesus enough. When a close friend was younger her father died of Parkinson's. If you don't know, this is a very long degrading and painful process. People would tell her family that they needed to pray harder. The subtle undercurrent was that his continued illness was somehow their fault, and this still pains her to this day. Be careful what you say to those in pain.
