Round 5 Match Ups!

 Group admin
Welcome to round 5! Congratulations on making it to the "Elite Eight". We've had some AMAZING entries thus far so let's keep the momentum going! Remember, if you win this round you are guaranteed a prize! How's that for incentive?

Below you will find your matchups and categories.

Dates: Round 5 starts NOW and will end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 10th..

Title:
Your entry must be titled: MocOlympics (may be shortened to MO) round 5 "you" vs "Your opponent." You may title it anything you wish after that but that must be the opening of the title.

Category description:
Near the TOP of the entry you must state what category you are playing in. Feel free to copy and paste the description from below if you wish.

Links:
Preferably somewhere near the top of your post, you MUST have a WORKING link to your opponent’s page. If you post first then linking to their homepage is fine. If you post second, please link to their entry. You do not HAVE to change the link to their entry after they post (if you post first) but feel free to do so if you wish, that is your choice. You do NOT have to have a working link back to the main MocOlympics group. You’re free to add it if you wish but it is NOT required.

You must add your entry to the group pool. Once you add it to the group, that's it, it's OURS and NO changes may be made. If you make a change and we find out about it, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. We STRONGLY suggest that you get feedback from others and make any needed changes BEFORE adding it to the group. The judges will NOT look at it until it's added to the group.

Once you and your opponent have posted and added your entries to the group, the judges will vote on the mocs. There will be three judges for each matchup (divided by the brackets). You must receive 2 out of 3 votes to advance to the next round. The judges are NOT required to write full, detailed comments with their votes (but may if they choose to). The only thing required by a judge is which moc they are voting for. Each judge’s decision is final.

Your judges are:
Brackets 1 and 2: Mr. Xenomurphy, David Alexander Smith, LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist

Brackets 3 and 4: Chris Phipson, Ian Spacek, Annie Corder

As usual, please post any questions in the "Question" thread as we can't promise we'll see it here amongst all the chatter.

Good luck!

Round 5

Bracket 1
Blake Baer vs Mark McPeek
Kitchenwar(e): Build a spaceship based on kitchen appliance or any other household appliances. Need inspiration? Have a look at Boba Fett’s Slave 1, the flying flatiron. Size doesn’t matter, but is should be obvious which appliance(s) served as model(s).

Bracket 2
Elliott Feldman vs Nick Barrett
Forced Perspective: Any subject matter you wish, but the main focal point must be a forced perspective shot for that is what you will be judged on, how well you depicted the forced perspective. No size restrictions

Bracket 3
Delatron 3000 vs Stuart Lucas
Pair Dare: Select two specific kinds of pieces (for example: the 1x2 brick and the jumper-plate) and then create a MOC using ONLY those two specific kinds. Feel free to use multiple colors of those bricks but they must be ONLY those two bricks. Choose wisely!

Bracket 4
matt rowntRee vs Eric Rathke
Uplifting Reboot: The opposite of the gritty reboot. Take an already gritty movie, and remake a scene as if it's a children's film. Imagine Sin City meets My Little Pony... (yeah, let your mind wrap around that one for a while).

A very unusual challenge - this is a real playing-field leveller. At this point I haven't a clue where to start or what to attempt, but I look forward to seeing what we come up with!

Did I say kick? I meant thank profusely for the opportunity! *grumble, rassin, frassin Ian*

Nah, I'm actually really getting into the idea now, embracing it as a technical challenge. Gathered together my pallette last night, every single one of the two elements i can find in my collection. Found some interesting colours I didn't know I had! Got some sketches done so tonight when we get back from fireworks it's on to building.

Sketches? Golly, I'm doomed. Still narrowing down which bricks to use and what to do with them.
Enjoy the fireworks! Hey, hold on, there's an idea...

Yep, Bonfire night as a commemeration of Guy Fawkes' foiled attempt to blow up Parliment is indeed November 5th. Most large organised displays are often put on over the nearest weekend though, I suspect to give kids a chance to stop up late, make it easier to organise and clean up, maximise attendance, etc. We went to the display run by our local Scout troop as a fundraiser, ate big bowls of Chilli, drank mulled wine and made the obligatory "Ooh" and "Aah noises. It was great!

As I expected, the further the competition goes on, the more I regret to just be in the audience! But I really did not have time this year, so... Good luck to all of you! And even if I don't have time to leave comments, be sure I appreciate all these wonderful MOCs! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
