Builders… welcome to round 6 and the semi finals!

Below you will find your matchups and categories.

Dates: Round 6 starts NOW and will end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 24th.

Title:
Your entry must be titled: MocOlympics (may be shortened to MO) round 6 "you" vs "Your opponent." You may title it anything you wish after that but that must be the opening of the title.

Category description:
Near the TOP of the entry you must state what category you are playing in. Feel free to copy and paste the description from below if you wish.

Links:
Preferably somewhere near the top of your post, you MUST have a WORKING link to your opponent’s page. If you post first then linking to their homepage is fine. If you post second, please link to their entry. You do not HAVE to change the link to their entry after they post (if you post first) but feel free to do so if you wish, that is your choice. You do NOT have to have a working link back to the main MocOlympics group. You’re free to add it if you wish but it is NOT required.

You must add your entry to the group pool. Once you add it to the group, that's it, it's OURS and NO changes may be made. If you make a change and we find out about it, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. We STRONGLY suggest that you get feedback from others and make any needed changes BEFORE adding it to the group. The judges will NOT look at it until it's added to the group.

Once you and your opponent have posted and added your entries to the group, the judges will vote on the mocs. This round, all 6 judges will be voting on every matchup. If there is a tie, I will pull in a special guest judge to break the tie. You must receive 4 out of 6 (7) votes to advance to the next round. The judges are NOT required to write full, detailed comments with their votes (but may if they choose to). The only thing required by a judge is which moc they are voting for. Each judge’s decision is final.

Your judges are:
Mr. Xenomurphy, David Alexander Smith, LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist, Chris Phipson, Ian Spacek and Annie Corder

As usual, please post any questions in the "Question" thread as we can't promise we'll see it here amongst all the chatter.

Good luck!

Brackets 1 and 2
Blake Baer vs Nick Barrett:
DON'T PANIC - Build something from Douglas Adams classic Scifi comedy, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Brackets 3 and 4

Well, it was a blast to compete in the M.O. I really enjoyed myself, built some things that I don't think I would ever have considered building and got to compete against some amazingly talented Lego builders. I want to sincerely thank all the judges, especially Mr. Phipson for their time and effort. Truly, you are all incredible and I'm very thankful. To all the other contestants, it was a lot of fun and an honour to build with and against you. Good show everyone! Finally, good luck once again to the remaining contestants! Thank you everyone, and I hope to see you next year!

Literally is in this case VERY not necessary. Sorry, but, there are so many people that use literally weirdly.

Thanks Stephen, but I disagree. One of the definitions of literally is, "without exaggeration." I used it because I wasn't just "saying" I cannot wait, I meant it!

Given the fact that both contestants were wide of the mark last round, would it not be fair to say that the category was a little vague? I meant no offense to you (so please do not take offense), but I found the last round category to be particularly difficult. The simple objective fact that all 4 of the builders in this round are pleased with these prompts shows a difference between these and last rounds' categories.

For ‘vague categories’ there is always the question thread. Look how full they are with category clarifying questions.

Calling it better means that the category from last round was inferior to this one and calling somebodies ideas inferior is in fact very offensive. I’m sure you knew that when you made your comment.

An inoffensive way to say it would have been: “Much EASIER category than previous round because I can recreate something that I’ve already seen in a movie or TV series or that was described in a book.”

Then again, I am sorry if you took offense. None was meant. I won't get into an argument about semantics with you (I mean honestly, you're a judge, what good could possibly come out of it for me, haha).

I consider myself being a fair judge, therefore being able to distinguish personal matters from objective judgements. I'm sure your comment above doesn't indicate that I'm an unfair judge.

Probably it's again just a matter of semantics.

But I do agree with Blake, it was a very difficult category and just FYI, it's not algae in the filter.... ;)

Not at all. Arguing with a judge is like trying to argue with a referee. Even when you guys are wrong, you're right, haha. Its pointless.

I put the finishing touches on it yesterday, and now I need to take pictures and edit them before the end of the month. Eek! Almost all of my pieces are invested in that project, so this round will probably kill me simply for lack of pieces. Unfortunately, neither project will receive my undivided attention. But with soccer out of the way, hopefully things will shape up a bit better time-wise.

Ok, sounds great! I can't wait! Good luck with both! Question, what program do you use to edit your pictures? I haven't found a good program, so I don't edit mine...yet.

Use GIMP! It can do most of the things Photoshop can do, there are plenty of tutorials online and in the group It Isn't Rocket Surgery, and it's completely free!

Now that the line-up for the final is sorted, I'd like to offer Blake first choice on the prizes for the losing semi-finalists. Either would be excellent for me and I don't collect either Sponge-bob or Star Wars exclusively so I will be very happy with whichever I get. If Blake has a particular preference then have at it!
