Yep! We should write the history of the average gnomes in the history of lom point of view. Like, ”Once The Tourney was announced, Mythronian Knight George founded the guild of Average Gnomes and recruited the best and brightest warriors in all of Mythron, such as Neroguian archer Destrian..." and so on....

That's a good idea, actually. If there's smaller guilds next year, we could use contest(s) to see who will be in the main guild...then we could probably help the remaining members put together their guilds (maybe Average Gnom3s, 4verage Gnomes, etc)

Haha, at least I added suspense and showed the first non-Inigo member of Inigo's outlaw band. (another member will be in my next MOC). Don't worry, my UC will have a much longer story and plenty of action (almost as much action as the orc arena, but way better writing and much more interesting. And hopefully a far better build too; I'm going for quality over size)

Well . . . It's good to be outside . . . Even if you're pretending to be Legolas. I used to always do that. There was a park by my house. There was a big section of it and a small section of it. I pretended that the big section was Minas Tirith, the small section Osgiliath, and the in between Pellenor Fields or whatever :P

List of things I like to do
- Go outside and pretend to be Legolas or Katniss whenever I watch LOTR/Hobbit or Hunger Games too much
- Pitifully attempt to perform parkour after watching Sherlock Holmes movies
- watch LOTR/Hobbit
- watch Hunger Games
- watch Sherlock (BBC)
- watch Star Wars
- play Minecraft, Skyrim, Halo, etc...

You call that nerdy? I went to Comic Con last week end. I also play Magic: the Gathering,
Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer. Those aren't video games. Few video games even approach the level of nerdiness attained by the games listed above. Do you dare challenge my nerdiness?

Freeling...you better not tell him - Kai's already helping us and I don't really think you would want to help Rainos, given that it just attacked you (or tried to). Anyway, if you outlaws help, I'll try to make my story more positive toward them. Thanks!

Spies are the issue. Rainos didn't have any outlaw spies or anything, whereas we have Rainosian spies.

It's to make it an even playing field. They already have the advantage by choosing the location - them seeing our plans would give them even more of an advantage.

Yeah, I've had a few school days to recover. :P There was actually a spike in party's recently, possibly because of spring break? Anyways, some of the ones worth noting was the Boca Bash (You can look this one up on Google), the Tortuga Music Festival (Not actually a party, but an epic country concert. Look this one up too), a literal 5 days in a row of parties on my yacht, and a playboy party where the guys dressed in bathrobes and the girls wore bunny ears and barely anything else (In a few case, NOTHING else!). And that was just in the past two weeks. So yeah, its been pretty eventful, BUT I'm back for the time being, so that's what counts! ;)

I don't think that can happen. In the fire triangle you need fuel, a started and oxygen. The wind will help spread it but you need something to start the fire. It was most likely a cigarette or the tire of a car skidding on dry grass making a spark and starting the fire.

you're both right I believe. The fires' cause is unknown right now...but the dry climate, high temperatures, and wind are all fueling it.

The only limit is for the tourney I believe, and we'll probably use a Average GnomIIes group for that. (probably led by Kai and I...)

And the new members were invited since they expressed interest in the city attack somehow. A few of them are members who might be good for the second stage, some are good at critiquing, some wanted to see my ship, and some fell into multiple of those categories.

Okay, both of you guys should have gotten emails about who will be entering. Hope both of you can enter, you were chosen for a reason :P

If you didn't get an email...well, either you're not Mythronian, my system didn't work, or you were a fill-in for if someone else doesn't enter or if you make a MOC better than one of ours. In other words, the people who I asked to build with me were just suggestions, sorta - if one of you can make a MOC better than one of ours, then the superior build gets the privilege of being entered.

Sound fair?

Now that the pig's gone, we can talk more openly.

First of all, Brick, NEVER say that you think our faction is going to lose. It doesn't matter whether you actually think that - saying that in public plants that seed in the judges' minds. They'll think "Oh, I was going to vote for Halhi, but if even his faction leader thinks Gilbert's is better, I guess I should vote for Gilly."

Anyway. I might have FNJ's vote - his comment on my build seemed longer/more positive. Plus, he likes novelty and "groundbreaking techniques" (as Deus put it) so he might prefer the technical aspect of mine.

Other than that, could you try to get OoL and Free to judge? Both are pretty neutral...

Oh, and we are NOT attacking the outlaws. I'll be blunt - you (Brick)wouldn't be able to beat Kai, even though I'm familiar with Kai's weaknesses. Plus, that would be a mean thing to do - Kai helps us so much, and then we betray him? I thought we were supposed to be the "good guys"!

If we attack anyone (though I don't really want to), it would be Enalica - they're weak, and we can beat them easy. However, I'm not certain you'd be able to beat Thomas without a lot of training.

Sorry that it only shows half the building. Anyway, the walls are hinged by hinge bricks. The rest of the angles are done by fudging some of the measurements.

You can also see the amount of headlight bricks used, as well as the BURPs for roof support

Hm, interesting.

Mine is actually a lot more complicated than that, due to the timber framing style I'm using as well as parts [un]availability in shades of blue. Half plate offsets...gotta love 'em. Or hate them. They're certainly getting on my nerves right now. :P

What? No, no, this is different. I'm not using your technique, the half plate offsets are in the internal structuring. I need 1x1 bricks with a stud on one side and a hole on the other. The closest there is to that is a headlight brick. But a headlight brick has that half-plate inset, which also translates into a half-plate offset. So I had to deal with that.

Yes, the blue thing is my fault. Unrealistic? Nah. Just rarer than white.

Or tan. Or dark orange. Even sand green and sand red might be more common IRL, just they're rarer colors.

Oh, and your timber technique...? That one's really overcomplicated. You know you can get the same result with some much simpler techniques, right?

http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=384325&id=/user_images/84200/1395611311m

There's my Persuasion UC backside. It looks more complex than it is since I ran out of pieces and was using a bunch of random pieces for support, as well as a lot of large bricks since I was running out of 1x1s, but maybe that's interesting to someone.

Dark orange and red aren't very useful otherwise, and I need sand green for landscaping. I wanted a unique color that could also be applied to something else. In this case, water shading. Plus I had some blues to begin with, whereas I have almost no sand green, red and dark orange.

As for the timber...it's not "my" technique in the usual sense. I'm just working around the fact that a studs-up brick is half a plate higher than a SNOTed brick/plate. I guess it could be called my technique, as I'm inventing this as I go, but it's really pretty straightforward on the basic level.

I was wondering if you'd be interested in competing in an Iron-Builder type MOC-off against me. The idea would be that we agree on a certain interesting piece to feature prominently in our builds (hopefully a piece that we both have decent quantities of, at least 10). Then we have a certain length of time to post our entries one by one in a topic in our MOC-off group (just a picture or two, not a full page). Afterward, we could each post all our entries in one page. Are you interested?

Uh...awkward...
The guild system is getting remade so all current guilds will no longer exist. The limit will be 5 (but apparently there's a way of expanding it somehow). Kai and I were going to make the Average GnomIIes with Stephen, Kai, Me, Brick, and Infy (and Julia if we can expand the member count)

Good stores are "Plastic Bricks Direct" and "Toy Burg" if you're interested.

I dislike both those stores. The only two I've used (and I recommend both) are Sawan Store and Dad's AFOL Supplies.

Technically, he isn't allowed to refuse, although I Think that might change with the new guild remodeling.

Gosh, that's a lot of 1x1 round tiles! Why do you need the 1x2 trans-black bricks?

There's a lot of uses, I'm sure. Murky water, windows, etc. But, mainly, it's way cheaper than BrickLink and it was the best item there, IMO.

Trans clear 1x1 plates? YUS! I was already planning on maybe going to the lego store soon, if I do I'll have to get a cup full of them. Plus some other stuff, of course.

Olive cheese !!!!1!!!!1!

Jk

You have pretty much every piece I want, so I don't have many suggestions. Perhaps get a pneumatic pump and some tubing? Working water features are always fun.

Flame yellowish orange, pieces for an olive dragon, or dark orange. Or, get more rockwork pieces so you can build larger dios.

You have a ton of pieces that I would love to have....but as for now, I think you should invest in some more green/brown plates. This way you could builder a larger MOC in the style of your TR6...which was amazing.

Working water would be awesome! What type of pneumatic pump are you talking about?

No, don't go with regular green, too bland. Get a ton of sand green instead. Maybe some more dark green too.

Definitely want the fire pieces that can be clipped together, I have like 2.

Rockwork pieces are definitely on the list! Always wanted more dark orange...

I use the smaller one, but only because I don't have the large (sprung) one. Basically what you'll need for a basic water hose:

1 Pneumatic Pump
1 4mm diameter tube (might want to get several different lengths, although I think cutting them is purist)

Then just submerge the pump in a cup of water and start pumping. Water should start squirting out of the tube

Yeah, green plates are rare in my collection. I liked that MOC a lot too, one of my favs.

I also want 1x2 plates and tiles in dark and light bley, lots of 1x1 bricks with studs on one side, and sand green parts.

Theoretically there's probably a way to do the same thing using the mars mission pumps in order to pump a lot more water, but I don't have any of them to test. Anyone have any of those to make an experiment in the name of science?

Cool, thanks.

The pump works all right for moving water. Some caveats: the intake is located fairly high, so the pump needs to be in about an inch of water. Also, the pump spits water out in a burst when you press it, then stops as soon as you let go. It does have ample power, though. I think a better way would be to use the pump to supply an elevated tank, then have the waterfall coming from there. I'm going to fiddle with it some more and see if I can get this to work.

Interesting. That's pretty much the same flaws that my system had too, so it sounds like the two systems are pretty similar. I suppose the bursts of water could be solved with 2 pumps pumping through the same tubes, with one going up as the other goes down. I know that can be done with the normal pneumatic system with t joints, but I'm not sure if it can be done with the mars mission pumps. Time to do some research...

You have a video showing the technique?

Motorizing this system would be awesome... I do have a few power functions motors...

Sorry, all that was just hypothetical. I only used a simple 1 pump + 1 tube system.

Let's see...in terms of motors I have:

6 NXT motors
3 PF medium
2 PF Large
1 9V geared motor

Wow, that's 12 motors, more than I thought I had...

Looks like I'll probably be able to go...I'll need to remember to get the azure plates, clear square plates (probably almost a full small cup full), brown plates (ran out on my ship), round tiles (not at all useful, but they're neat to have), and of course whatever other good pieces they have. (setwise I'm planning on getting croc legend beast, lion legend beast, and jaw beast)

Sorry, all that was just hypothetical. I only used a simple 1 pump + 1 tube system.

So, I just put together the full system. Using a second tank works perfectly to even out the water flow. I don't think anything with less capacity that the MM pump could keep the second tank full, but it works. Bad news is that the main tank is leaking horribly, as in a visible stream of water pouring out the bottom. Also, to make the tank big enough to reach the intake, I have to add at least another layer of bricks around the edge, which will cut off the hose coming from the back. My idea right now is to add another wall around the main tank, 1 plate higher, to try to seal off the seams. And the MM pump needs way too much pressure to think of motorizing it, FYI.
