Welcome to Round 2 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! If you’re among the thirty-two remaining contestants, I highly recommend that you brush up on the rules:

http://mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=23408&topicid=92891

Certain rules change between Round 1 and the elimination rounds, so it's important that you're aware of what's different. Also, please carefully read all of the following before asking any potential questions:

Round 2 ends at 11:59pm MOCpages time on 1/19/14. That gives you just under ten days to build!

The theme for this round is Fellowship of the Ring quotes. As with the riddles in Round 1, the quotes are open to interpretation. Some will be trickier than others. You can take the basic route and build the scene from which the quote originates, or you can build some other creative MOC that somehow relates. It’s up to you! All we ask is that you REFRAIN from including other story themes in your entry (e.g. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Superheroes, etc.). Seeing as you were all successful in Round 1, we expect that you understand how this works.

Required for all Round 2 entries:

-Title your entry: MELO Round 2: [your name] vs. [your opponent’s name]

-State your bracket (Barad Dur or Orthanc) FIRST THING in the intro box. As there are two sets of judges, this immediately informs them if you’re in their bracket or not. It’s a courtesy!

-Provide a WORKING link to your opponent’s homepage or entry (depending on which of you posts first), placed preferably near the top of your entry’s page. You can also include a link to the MELO homepage if you’d like (appreciated, but not required).

-State the category you’re playing in, preferably near the top of your page.

And now, without further ado, I give you the Round 2 categories and match-ups!

Fellowship of the Ring Quotes

-Barad Dur Bracket: Your judges are Blake Bear, Mark Murphy, and Ian Spacek. The judges are not required to give feedback about their voting decisions.

Legopard vs. Saequis (Sam M)
"Your quest runs on the edge of a knife, stray but a little, and it will fail."

Grant Davis vs. A. Sargent
“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist vs. Dodge ...
"Oh....that's nice. Ash on my tomatoes!"

Zoltán K vs. Zach Lucia
“Do not disturb the waters.”

KW Vauban vs. Mark McPeek
"To bear a Ring of Power is to be alone."

Matthew Oh vs. Josh Walter
"A shadow lurks in the dark. We cannot get out...they are coming."

Lee Muzzy vs. Alex Rode
“Nothing passes door and window here save moonlight and starlight and wind off the hilltop.”

Justin Knelsen vs. David Alexander Smith
“I've thought of an ending for my book - "And he lived happily ever after... to the end of his days."

-Orthanc Bracket: Your judges are Max Pointner, Michael Kringe, and Paul Vermeesch. The judges are not required to give feedback about their voting decisions.

David Hensel vs. Professor B.
"There is only one lord of the ring. And he does not share power!"

Disco 86 vs. Finn Tegotash
"Even the smallest person can change the course of the future."

J-rod Smith vs. Ben Merrill
"We've had one yes, but what about second breakfast?"

Eric Rathke vs. Andrew the Jedi Ninja
"Do you know how the Orcs first came into being?"

Kyle Ransom vs. Elliott Feldman
"If you're referring to the incident with the Dragon, I was barely involved. All I did was give your uncle a little nudge out of the door."

David FNJ vs. Jackson Williams
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”

A M vs. Li Li
"This is no mine. It's a tomb."

Matthew B. vs. Eli Willsea
"Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life.”

Good luck to all of the contestants! I don't know about you, but I was surprised at the categories! Should be lots of fun!

ATTENTION! There was a mix with the categories that effects several people. Li Li and A M are already taken care of, but as a courtesy, here are the final categories for the other people who got moved around too:

Quoting Justin Knelsen + David Alexander Smith
Justin Knelsen vs. David Alexander Smith
“I've thought of an ending for my book - "And he lived happily ever after... to the end of his days."

Quoting Matthew B. + Eli Willsea
Matthew B. vs. Eli Willsea
"Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life.”

Thank you! And I apologize for the inconvenience, if you'd already started on your category and got moved around.

Yes, and if you make it to Round 3, I'll be sure to give you the "POH-TAY-TOES!" category.

*foresees MOC of Ian in the stocks with an enraged Adam throwing ash-covered rotten tomatoes at him*

Twas too good of a quote to pass up! Having no idea what I'd build for such a phrase myself, my curiosity led me to inflict it upon others.

Hey, do you know how to get a link to another page on a creation? I had already seen the one for the MELO somewhere else, so I copied it, but I can't get a link to david Hensels entry to work, and I can't get it to say his name. Can you help at all?

It adds a ; for some reason right before David, delete that to get it to work, but copy and paste this: <a href=http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/378880>; David Hensel </a>

Attention all Round 2 participants! If you see this, please go and check to see that you've got your BRACKET listed in your write-up. I've been viewing all the splendid Round 2 entries, but unfortunately a lot of them are lacking the bracket notification. Brackets really make the judge's lives easier! Enough people have excluded brackets that we won't have a penalty, but please make the change if you can! Thank you.

I think a lot of people are having that problem. One way to fix it, is you post it on Flickr, then just copy the HTML and paste it in the description where they would usually be.

Thank you for your help! After a serious resizing I was able to upload a main picture but it can't be opened in large so I put an outer link for the high res version. I couldn't find better solution.

Well, the thing is, a warning sign was popping up every time I went to the uploader in the past month that had the following yellow box in it:
"this application will be blocked in the future due to ....." So I guess now is the future it was referring to. Something about not being a safe application to upload things through?

For the uploader, you can put java back to high level but instead do this (if you have Windows 7 or 8 I believe:

1. Click the start button at the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Java
4. In the Java window click the "security" tab
5. Click Edit Site List
6. Click Add in the new window
7. Put the following in the appropriate location:

8. Click Okay
