Judges? Not sure how this is being judged. Anyone want to be a judge?

Never made a hangar. This might be a good chance to try it.
Let's see some rules first.

Well, besides all the ideas I have for a hangar scene, there's no way I can participate. My parts collection doesn't allow it. But, as a judge you can count me in!

Done, I'll co-judge. Any ideas for a points system/criteria, since you are so adept at fighter hangars ? :)

Quite honestly, the best prize I've seen offered for a LEGO contest. I have a heaping plate of school/contests, but I'll see what I can do. I've been meaning to build some Gaia for a while now...

Welcome all :) Good to see some familiar names already signed up.

I will be working on some rule tonite so we can open this contest prior Christmas. I'm thinking a good month for a finish date, likely the 1st of Feb 2014. Good luck.

Great idea for those of us who still love this group of yours! Honestly I don't know if I have the right compliment of parts to pull this off but for you friend I am still willing to give it a shot. Also, I could be a judge if you need another or perhaps a backup if necessary. Your choice.

I have a question about the 32x32 base plate ruling. Is that the minimum size allowed or does everything have to fit solely on it? I ask because I have an idea for something in mini-fig scale but I don't think it will fit. If I needed more space could the base plate be bigger (like 32x48)or would I need to build a second 32x32 sized hangar?

This is a good question, I have a space craft to fit into the vig and it just is too small if I do it the way I think it needs to be...

Iīve sent an email to the other judges, letīs see what they say.

Well, personally, I think that a little overhang is okay.
According to the overall size of the vig Iīd say, a fighterīs nose.
Like 6 studs, maybe!?
Donīt foreget, sticking to the rules is also a challenge. Not only building.

Mike, if you could be a little bit more precise about your current problem would be nice.

Overhang is no probs; we will simply hone in on the most relevant 32x32 section, so don't put the most complex mech or minifig ever seen on the edge over hanging the main 32x32 body of work.

Links, Links. We don't need no stinking links! Kidding!

Honestly guys I have so many problems it would take a millennium just to list them all! However getting back to the question at hand, what I was trying to ask was if everything I want to use has to fit on only ONE 32x32 base plate? If thatís a yes, Iím fine with that but if there are exceptions I simply want to know what exactly they are so I can be sure I am playing by the rules (Iím a nit-picker for the details, itís habitual) and the sooner I know the better simply because of how slow I am to get anything done!

As to Marcís question without going into too much detail (I donít want to ruin the surprise) my main piece will fit on a single 32x32 plate but all the extra goodies I want to use would either hang over (I think at least 6 to 8 studs, maybe more) or clog up the scene too much. This doesnít even include the greebles needed or the hangar itself.

When it comes down to it, I just want it to look good without having to cut corners whether it wins or not.

I think the general consensus of the judges is for us not to nitpick on little details. We want people to be creative, within reason, and looking sharp is what it's all about. Plus a good text/story line to read, all that stuff described in the rules. So, I wouldn't be too tense about it. Build something awesome, and we'll sort it out.

Hehe, no spoilers please! Just try to keep the overhang at a mimimum.
Itīs fair as against the others who might stick to the rule.

Well, I've actually yet to start it. Was going to do it over this long weekend, which conveniently ends on the 3rd. ;)

I'll see about building something, but I don't want it to be eligible for the prize. Wouldn't really be fair to people who actually remembered the due date and didn't procrastinate - not that I'd have a hope of beating the two awesome entries already posted anyways...

Not sure if Parrington's selling, but if he makes any more of these badges I'd love to buy one - might motivate me to finally build some Gaia stuff. ;)
