You may not like what I am going to say...

Peugeot.

Why? They drive good, and most of the new line-up (2014 308, 508, RCZ) even look good. And Peugeot participated in Le Mans, WRC, and even the Dakar rally. It's a great all-round car brand.

I think the best brand is probably Volvo. They are safe and very practical. I especially like their V70 and XC70 (before that the 740) Station Wagons, the are great for hauling stuff. 5 People and tons of luggage. I also feel confidant that a Volvo wont leave me stranded, my family has had Volvo's since before I was born and we've only had to call a tow 3 or 4 times (and those cars were over 15 years old!)

I also like Ford, my '98 Windstar has been pretty good to me. Currently it needs a new Break Master Cylinder, but considering it's age, but it only ever stranded me once, and it was 14 years old at the time.

I had never heard of that one before, it looks quite nice! Apparently it was never sold in North America, which probably explains why I've never heard of it.

I still have a thing for Volvo, but I don't like the new ones as much. I like the old Volvo's when they were "Safe and Practical." Now they are "Safe and Luxury" but have lost a lot of their practicality and to be honest, they aren't even that good at being luxury. Being a Volvo guy in America is also kind of hard, they keep trying to push SUVs and some years have even discontinued their Station Wagons!

No matter what the brand, Station Wagons are my favorite type of car. They are just so versatile. Right now there are only 10 different Station Wagons being sold in the US, most people here want SUVs.

They are reliable cars; a man recently passed 3 million kilometers in a p1800 es without changing the engine...
But it has no soul such as other brands like alfa or bmw and that's why I would say it isn't the best brand in the world. To be the best brand, you need the practicality as you showed with Volvo, and then the soul
8-)

It depends what you think makes a manafacturer the best. The best quality cars, the best in terms of safety, the fastest, all come from different makers, meaning that no individual company is the best. My personal favourite company is Aston Martin.

Subaru is the best!

Of course I'm kidding. Well, I believe thata there's not a best brand. Actually some are great for rally, others have a safety feature, and others still can leave many in the dust when it comes to racing. So depending on what you choose, results may vary.

Well, I believe the best brand in mechanical matters would be Audi. Dude, you don't win the Le mans 24 hours edition 12 times in 13 years if you're not good at it. Also, Aventador's eletronic parts come from Audi, so yeah, they are good. :)

But my favorite is still subaru. They may not be beautiful (IMO they are, but that's only me) and may not overtake any ferraris, but it still carries 6 WRC titles. A stock STI can easily win of a Camaro, also. That's my all-time favorite.

Personally my favourite brand is Subaru.

Never owned a Subaru, but many people in my extended family have them. The really don't feel Japanese, at least there non-tuner cars. They remind me a lot of how Volvo used to be. I also like the 2001 SAAB 93 convertible I got a few months ago, though I'm not about to try and argue SAAB being the best just because I like one car they made.

I do agree a lot with what people are saying, there really isn't any one brand that does it all. I think the 50's and 60's Chevy's are the best looking cars of all time, but other then looks most companies where ahead of them in reliability and safety even through the 1990's. Maybe we should break it down by categories and say what we think the best brand is in each category? IDK

Improvement in photo quality, some of the great builders (like Senator Chincilla) are more active over there, in some ways more organized than MOCpages. But the first one is the main one. That's the main reason I have it - for better quality.

I understand your argumentation but I have to say that In mechanical terms the best one are porsche. They invented a a car with an engine at the back, which is for a lot of people a bad thing, and it makes the grip very bad as well (I like it a lot). Today, the engineers worked so much on this non conformal concept that it is by far better than other cars (example:impressive grip). And in term of engineering, theade some very crazy things as well, such as the roof mechanism on the new targa: it's gorgeous!!
8-)
Ps: and not only electrical elements of lamborghini are made by audi, but in fact the whole mechanic of it... 8-)

I'm going to have to disagree with Porsche being the best. It is quite possible that I am miss informed, but I always heard that Porsches needed a lot of maintenance and it was very expensive. In fact I've heard that most German cars have high maintenance costs. To be fair, I'm a big Volvo guy and they aren't to cheep on maintenance ether, but hearsay has told me that German cars are worse. It might also just be because I live in the United States, it may be cheaper in Europe.

In Europe, people have a very good opinion about porsche. And for example today (it was sunny) I saw about ten Porsches. Thanks to diversified cars, they reach every markets in Europe (suv, coupe,...). It's true that the costs are high, but only if something's goes wrong and/or brakes down. Otherwise they are very reliable so not a lot of things goes wrong.
Volvo is also a nice brand but personally I think it's a bit boring (they cars are great of course, but there have nothing special). Then if I would have to choose I would buy a saab. But I don't know how it is in the us; the cars you have there are different to ours in Europe. 8-)

I've got a 2001 SAAB 93 convertible, I like it a lot but after only have it 6 months I want more experience before I make up my mind on the brand. A lot of people have Porsches in the US too, most of the bad stuff I heard about them was from people who didn't have one, so they probably didn't know what they were talking about. I mostly based my idea of "the best car brand" around normal everyday cars, the kind of car you drive to the grocery store or pick the kids from a sports game. In a race the Volvo would loose to the Porsche, but you can't use it as a workhorse quite the same way. I agree Volvo is kind of boring, but it's their reliability and practicality that make me think they are the best. If we are basing the best brand on coolness Volvo would probably place somewhere between Fiat and Kia.

Interesting..... are you planning to make supercharged cars?

Why not? Now, we are thinking at a "soap box".
