YES!!! Disney is destroying Lucasfilm and Star Wars!!! No more video games and that INCLUDES 1313!!!!! First The Clone Wars and now this!!!! Episode VII could still be good and the only reason for that is the original cast and J.J. Abrams, but absolutely not in any circumstances not DISNEY!!!!!

Sorry got to blow off some steam!

It's a strange decision, but I'm sure they have some sort of plan for the company. Perhaps the areas will be used for the making of Episode VII. How they can justify shutting down a company that obviously brings in money for them will be interesting, though.
After hearing this disturbing information, I can only hope they won't shut Lucas books down.

Hahaha Noah...

Anyway, I'm extremely dissapointed that there won't be any 1313, that looked really cool. However, if VII is anything good, it might bring some video games of its own. But I'm pretty dissapointed that George Lucas won't be directing this one. I think it will just be missing a character that only Lucas adds to his movies. I wouldn't be surprised if it was better than we make it out to be though.

I think shutting them down is all about money, no thought to the harm it will do to fanbase. The next trilogy will probably be entertaining at least.

No, I do understand what you mean and somewhat agree.

No more video games

That's not true, there will still be video games, the titles will just be licensed off to other companies who will have free reign over the game. I only cringe for how the stories will tie in to everything without the guiding hand that would have existed in the previous arrangement with Lucasfilm having it's own game studios.

And they'll be utterly terrible. No biggie.

I think it's a bit like battlefront III from 2008, how it was pretty much finished and then Lucas Arts cut the contract.

Darn, I really wanted it (and battlefront III). Thanks for the explanation. :)

This news made me very sad... I love Star Wars games. Still do. Anyway, the worst will be if Disney Interactive tries to make a game. Lets all pray that never happens.

I didn't really know what to think about a Star Wars Game without any Jedi, but now that it's closed I'm shocked. :(

I just read that EA and Disney have agreed to a deal that will give EA rights to Star Wars so they will make SW games. Good or bad?

Electronic Arts are only a publisher now so they will have to work with another company to develop games. But EA have published lots of big name titles in the last decade. Mass Effect, Dragon Age and DeadSpace for instance. They are hardly strangers to the Star Wars franchise; publishing both KoTOR games and TOR.

I know it really stinks! It will be like "Luke I am your fairy god mother".

Bad. EA has a problem with trying to speed up production and shove the game out there. Mass Effect, KOTOR II both had TERRIBLE endings. The only thing EA can do for SW video games will be to ruin them.
