Round 1 - Eliminatories!
 Group admin
Welcome to Round 1 of the 2014 Bio-Cup.
This round is a straightforward free-for-all, where you will be rounded down to a bracket-sized number. Said number will be determined by the number of actual entries posted.

Time Frame - You have until the July 23, MOCpages time, to enter you MOC. Entries posted outside this time frame will be void.

Each player is only allowed one entry. For an antry to be valid you must post a link in the "Round 1 Entry thread".
http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=24293&topicid=97347

The first theme is...

Deluxe Action Figure

Build a simple, playable figure capable of interacting with scores of accessories and sturdy enough to withstand active playing without falling apart (imagine you need to lend it to a 7 y.o. and you want it back in decent shape).
Give it all the small accessories you'd love to have for an action figure: weapons, equipment, etc.
Full vehicles are forbidden (sold separately) but you can give it skates, boards, and backpacks.
Size restriction: From a toa/hero set size to a Chima ultrabuild set size.

Hmmm did I forget anything?
Oh well, there's a question thread.

Size restrictions are there to ensure a fair chance to compete for all builders, even those with smaller collections.
Size limits will disappear, as usual, in later rounds.
Also, Chima's ultrabuilds are noticeably taller than heroes or toas.

Nice try. Well, if you give it wings yes, they can go as high as Chima wings, even somewhat higher if you wish. No, you can't use combiners for size reference.

I interact with a lot of kids in my life (especially over the course of this week, as a camp volunteer) so I should get some feedback from them... I hope.

I made a giant jetpack that attaches to my self-mocs back. (don't worry its a new version) is that OK? Its horizontal, not vertical.

Yes, as long as it fits both themes.
Yes, as long as it's humanoid enough to, you know, use accessories (since it's basically the point of this round).

Be wary, if it's large enough, some judges could consider it a full fledged vehicle and either ignore it, or even penalize you for it.

Please, share your secrets :O .

It actually works on the same idea as shock absorbers. I made armor that doesn't fall off when it gets hit, because the way it's attached absorbs the hit. I hit my model into the ground a solid fifteen times before his chest plate came off due to a loose axel. So far he's my first MOC to use this technique, mostly because my other ones either A: Don't need it, or B: Hold together like a rock anyway. I warn you however, that if you're not careful the technique is EXPENSIVE when it comes to some parts. How's it attached? I guess you'll have to wait to see my entry >:P
