Hi, i have a question. I have to use my Mom's phone because our camera is broken. So the quality may be not as good. But this would be my first creation EVER, so if i could get some help it would be very much appriciated. :)

Give it enough lighting and your phone will do fine. You can also improve presentation by using a backdrop when you take your photos.
Also, don't worry about it being your first MOC, the worst that could happen is that you'd lose.

I know this may be an odd question, but what exactly is a selfmoc? I know what a moc is, so I have an idea of what a selfmoc is, but I'm not entirely sure.

I know this may be an odd question, but what exactly is a selfmoc? I know what a moc is, so I have an idea of what a selfmoc is, but I'm not entirely sure.

It's a MOC that represents yourself, usually with inspiration drawn from your own personality and preferences. For example, my selfMOC, Jethryn, has my favorite color (black), some of my favorite weapons (staff/spear + knives), my favorite element (electricity) and his personality is based off of my own. Notwithstanding that some events in the storyline are, on an extremely metaphorical scale, reflections of things that happened in my own life.

A self-MOC is wish fulfillment. Imagine what you'd like to be in the Bionicle Universe and create it.

I have a somewhat legitimate question. As part of the prize for winning from the last Bio-Cup, the winner was made a judge for this Bio-Cup. My question is that why are three of the competitors, including the runner-up, judges?
If I am mistaken about my information, I will delete this comment. If anybody else has already asked this question, I am sorry for repeating someone else.

Likely because all the other judges (sans Yuri) declined/weren't active.

If your entry has more functions but doesn't look really good (really being the keyword here)does it have more chance of getting a high score than if it looks really good but has only 1 function?

Cool functions will up your score, but the judges might not be willing to give a high score to a build that looks bad.

Such interactivity would be an interesting feature, but unless it has a seat that pops out or some other gimmick, I wouldn't consider it an "action" feature.

From reading the category the first time I was under the impression that any sort of complex function was okay but now after reading all the comments again I'm not sure...

So...does something like lever-controlled flapping wings (sorta like dragon bolt, featuring gears, linkages, etc) count or must it be a battle function?

That I guess would depend on each judge's taste. Some might like form over function, some the opposite.
Just focus on making a good entry that fits the theme.

For me at least, the more battle oriented the functions are the better. But normal functions are good too. Any good looking builds with well incorporated functions will get a good score from me. When I imagine a good build for the category I think of something like the Manas set.

Ok, my question isn't really related to the competition, but I'm still asking here because this seems to be right now the most active Bionicle group on MOCpages.
So, I'm looking for reddish-brown and dark-tan Bionicle parts for a revamp of Avak. Is there a shop on Bricklink or eBay specialising in parts of that colour? Or at least a shop with a fairly large assortment. I've been looking through quite a few shops now but none could meet my demand.

Oh, and another question: what exactly is the difference between reddish-brown and old-brown?

Never used bricklink so I can't help you there, but reddish brown is a bit of a warmer color, it has a slight reddish hue. It's not as noticeable as other color changes though (old grey vs bluish grey) and mixing the two can look good for slight wear, at least in system MOCs.
