That's cool; I've heard some of Reliant K's music and decided that it's not my style.
Anyway, some of my favorite songs from Demon Hunter are:
* Beauty Through The Eyes Of A Predator
* I Am You
* Lead Us Home
* Not I
* Relentless Intolerance
* Storm the Gates of Hell
* The Soldier's Song
* Undying
And some of my favorite stuff from Skillet is:
* Collide
* Comatose

Yeah, Rob Zombie is one of those bands that I enjoy the sound of, but try not to pay too much attention to the lyrics.
Which is not to say that there's no good lyrical content in secular bands. For example, Nightwish has great stories in many of their songs, System of a Down has some really outspoken political statements (though I may not agree with some of them), and Disturbed has some interesting messages in their songs as well. Just gotta take this stuff with the proverbial grain of salt! Permalink | November 30, 2009, 3:51 am |

Ahhh....Disturbed! That band is awesome! sadly, the band is not christian, fasr from it! lol, But your right they do have some meanings in their songs. For example: "Ten thousand fists in the air" is basicly a song against the goverment spending all our money and stuff. Have any of you guys seen the music vidieo for disturbed's version of "land of confusion?" Permalink | November 30, 2009, 9:07 am |

True that!
Quoting Spartan 117
Have any of you guys seen the music video for Disturbed's version of "land of confusion?"
Yes, that was the video that got me into being a fan of rock/metal in the first place! Did you know it was animated by Todd McFarlane, the same guy who did the animations for Spider-Man and Spawn?
BTW, have you seen the official video for “Indestructible”? It is very well-made, IMO.
Quoting Spartan 117
Sadly, the band is not Christian, far from it! lol, But your right they do have some meanings in their songs.
I actually sense some underlying agnostic themes from the lyrics Draiman writes. For example, the song “The Night” has the line in the chorus: “Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?”, while the song “Alive” has lots of words/phrases that are usually seen in a religious context. Then of course the song “Prayer” is about a person’s spiritual struggle.
Also, keep in mind that David Draiman was raised with Jewish beliefs, so he would have had a considerable introduction to Judeo-Christian beliefs.
Quoting Spartan 117
For example: "Ten thousand fists in the air" is basically a song against the government spending all our money and stuff.
I would have to disagree. It seems more about freedom of expression (and how governments try to oppress that). Many of Disturbed’s songs have that theme. Do you know why they changed the name of the band from “Brawl” to “Disturbed” after hiring David Draiman?
I recall reading in an interview that he said something to the effect of that when they looked around and saw all the mindless conformity in the world, people refusing to wake up and be themselves, that it was “disturbing”.
For a song about fiscal irresponsibility, you should have a look at “Boom!” by System of a Down.
Specifically the lines:
“4,000 hungry children
Leave us per hour from starvation
While billions are spent on bombs
Creating death showers” Permalink | November 30, 2009, 12:00 pm |
