A list of all the censored words that are automatically filtered

It happens from time to time. An odd curse word built into bigger words is placed (GL@SS for example) or generally words not used in that context. It might actually be nice to have that list, perhaps in the TOU.

Thoughts?

Wait... was that comment censored as well? lol

Oh well, I'll just wait for an admin to authorise it, haha. In case it doesn't, just a list of the bad words, so we know what not to write. It saves trying to figure out whether innocuous words have part of a "bad word" in it or not, and for people to learn the appropriate language anyway.

I'm not sure if the mods are going to list all of the bad words for all of the little kids to see...chances are, you're not going to get an exact list. But maybe Phippie will give you guidelines and certain "that's as high as it goes" advice.

Smart kids end up using other words as replacements. Back in the day, spherical recreational devices were just that, now genita... This word isn't censored, is it? lol

It's hard to be PC for fear of retribution. Rocks and hard places, heh.

True that. However, the word is probably still recognizable, people only do things like cr~ap to evade being censored, but i still know what the word really is. Little kids probably wouldn't be okay with that, but then again i just may be analyzing this too deeply.

Also noticed that my first post I put up hasn't been approved yet. Cu-rse was probablty the word if I recall correctly. I can understand that the admins are swimming in these tagged comments, whether they bother reading each and every single one of them, or just do a blanket delete, hehe Most likely there's more important things they're addressing.

In any case, a simple yes or no answer will suffice.

please can someone lock this well meaning, but utterly useless thread.

for all the reasons posted above (including the fact we are WAAAAY off topic already) there can never be a list of censored words because

a. those words are censored so someone who might be offended might actually see them. why bother censoring them if you can just come HERE to see them

b. because the list itself would be censored, therefore all you would have is a list of substitutes and ****, again pointless.

Just shows how caring and serious you guys are. You are all doing an awesome job.

Again, as for the list, never intended it to be a post. That would be counter productive. I'd consider an entry in the TOU, with a warning of course.

Otherwise we'll all just have to get used to the ever growing censorship that we have no idea what's being censored.
