Austin that has a parental guidance warning on it. He has given fair warning and anyone who clicks the link should expect to be offended.

had he not put the parental guidance warning there I'd be calling for his comments to be moderated better, but as it stands he's aware it might cause offence and has taken the appropriate action.

Andros nailed it. As long as he has the PG filter on it he's good. If you find something like this without the pg filter please let us know. Thank you.

What about Eric Hawk Mickle? He dose not have warnings. I'm not trying to be mean towards him but he has alot of curse words in his creation.

I did some research and Eric Hawk Mickle has 11 creations and typed "f__ed" once on one. While an adult could probably work out what that means, I'm not sure a child could work it out.

It would be down to the mods, but my opinion is that there is no need for a PG rating on any of his mocs.

here is the one in question. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/289966

I honestly don't see why some members are complaining. Beyond the fact that they probably should be safe searching in the first place.

And while I agree with you I have to uphold the rules of MOCpages (don't even get me started on violence vs the act of love...). Since you're a long standing member of the pages with a good rep, I'll ask you to make the changes for us and not make us do it for you. Could you please put the PG rating on your mocs that have curse words on them? "S" and "F" bombs mostly (You used the word for a person born out of wedlock but that one is passable if it's the only "bad" word used in a moc).

Think... prime time TV in the US (not sure where you're from). Anything that's allowed on TV is pretty much ok here. If they'd (bleep) it on TV, then it should be PG'd here.

Thanks in advance for taking care of it Eric.

in my opinion I think every one should put a PG rating on any creation with a bad word even if it's a minor bad word (btw I don't know much about bad words I just know that bad words are bad I don't know any of them)

Thank you Mr. Mickle, I was not trying to be mean, I agree with Chris that if TV *bleeps* it out everybody should.

Come on MOCpages Mods, I don't mean to be rude but I've posted the above 3 times in this group. Or are the f-bomb and s-bomb ok so long as they have astericks in them?

I don't get why kids who may not even be 12 think it's ok to talk like they do on the internet - where are they getting it from??

Aww, poor sweet delicate babies, did someone hurt your widdle feeelings?

If you click on a comic series about zombies, you're gonna get bloodshed. If you're perfectly happy to look at pictures of plastic undead getting dismembered, then you've got no right to complain about any foul language involved, and if you aren't, then nobody's forcing you to read it in the first place.

Other than that, if you have to click through a parental warning to see a page, you're signing away your right to get offended.

I have to say I agree with the main point here. I've more objection to zombies and war re-enactments not having a parental warning than I am with a little bad language. and to be fair most of the cases mentioned here the "f" and "s" bombs were disguised. I think it says more about the person complaining that A. they know what the word disguised actually is and B. that they are actively looking for it.

Seriously get your priorities straight people. If you don't want to be offended, don't look for it.

As for whether it should be allowed on a "kids" website, erm wasn't this place started by AFOL and TFOL members before the kids took over. Seriously shouldn't the rules reflect the fact SOME of us are over 18.

Just like to point out the link I posted above was not to a MOC, but to a member's Homepage.

There is no such warning for content on Homepages, so anyone could see what that tool wrote, no matter how old they were.

That is WRONG. End of.

Was that necessary?

Life lesson from this: don't stare midlessly at what makes you upset.

No, but I quite like the word 'tool'.

I'll exit this debate now - thought I was doing the right thing by posting the profanity (in fact it was a pretty horrendous sentence - nothing to do with a MOC, a story or anything, just a nasty thing to read on someone's Homepage).

Apologies if I've not done the right thing

Ape Fight, it sounds like you are making this personal. the point regarding the home page is well made (I did not see anything I felt was offensive there but clearly someone else did). The mods have addressed the issue and asked for parental warnings on future MOCs for bad language.

That is it.

if anything more needs to be added on the subject we should leave it to the mods.

By all means post links to stuff that needs warnings, but please don't get into petty squabbles over it.

You clearly have issue with "harsh language" in any form. Sorry but on the internet you are going to have to deal with it, because it is everywhere. I don't like reading posts like:

I hz gd mocs plz luk @ mi mocs.

But I don't start preaching on about it. In fact I find illiteracy far more offensive than the odd F*** because at least I can leave it up to people's imagination what that actually means.

(by the way it meant flip)

i just dont understand why moc pages does not have like a parental setting so parents can get on and block mocs that have bad language? or just block pg mocs altogether i understand little lauguage to make a moc funny or add so seriousness but f bombs just take it to far

I take the point that bad language on the home page is unacceptable, but I stand by my point that if precautions have been made to stop accidental viewing of something, then the complaints are unjustified. you get the PG filter, you turn back, it is there for a reason after all.

As for "No one should be using bad language", of for heavens sake that is such a polly anna view point. That's how SOME people talk all the time, they just can't help it. If it offends you, just don't talk to them.

I do agree with you. I just dont understand why people talk like that? I mean who "Made" bad words? As far as I am concerned I think there should be no such thing. But i live in a house were bad words are common. But,I hold my ground since i am only 14.

Language is what it is. I personally have a mouth that makes people say "Hey, could you watch it? There's truck drivers in here..." but I don't bring it into the public forums here. (heck, I even *starred* the words on a moc that I USED the PG filter on when I didn't have to. That's just me though).

To me, it's all about how and where you use it. As long as you can turn it off when needed...

As for here on mocpages, we put the parental warnings in place for just that reason. I personally find it more offensive when someone uses violence in all of their mocs than nudity or language. Really, who does a naked body hurt? And does someone dropping an "F bomb" on a moc where they ALREADY TOLD YOU that there's some bad language in there REALLY hurt you? Like it was said above... if you see the PG filter and language offends you, DON'T LOOK AT THE MOC.

I'll close this debate with this. We do our best to allow creative freedom of EACH user (regardless of personal tastes) while at the same time making the site as safe as possible for those with different views.
