I think there is more cussin on the evening news than on that page! Its the internet u know, bad words, and other worse stuff.... some people just need to express themselves that way. If you aren't cussin, good for you but I wouldn't really worry about what everyone else is doin as long as you are true to yourself thats all that matters.

have to agree with Chris, words like butt and frigging aren't even listed in the restricted words list. They may be harsher than most YFOL members "should" be using, but they aren't that bad.

I'm not sure how the mods will fall on this subject, but I'm guessing they will not have issue with it.

He uses fillers for some other words and the one he uses isn't too bad.

Listen up, it's total coincidence that I happen to be a christian, but cussing in itself is wrong. the "D" word is a glorified version of "What the H*ll". Just because to an AFOL the "D" word is nothing, a YFOL could look at that word and say it regardless if they know what it means. Can I also mention that curse words aren't supposed to be used on a site like this anyways. Although AFOL's like you and many others think that the "D" word isn't "cussing" it is still a curse word. Period, END OF DISCUSSION.

It's their own opinion, let them keep it. This thread does not need to be an arguing thread! Just report "cussing" and nothing else, don't try to tell other people it's not cussing or is cussing, if the MODs see fit to delete it, they will.

ok guys, I think a lot of good advice has been given in the last few posts. turning a difference of opinion, or a difference in lifestyles and faiths into a war is not the way forward.

true, SOME people here have stricter views on bad language than others. To those people I say - ask the mods what they think, they run this place, their word is law. you don't like what they say, then sorry but perhaps you should just leave.

to those people who feel that bad language somehow enhances their stories, or shows their maturity, might I just respectfully ask that they remember to use the PG filter. if the title is hidden from searches, reports like the ones we've seen here wouldn't happen.

90% of the stuff reported here I agree IS inappropriate for a PG audience and needs action taking. but the other 10% isn't worth the time of the mods viewing it to make a judgement call, in my opinion, and I'd rather save them a moment of their busy time NOT having to view something they will inevitably take no action on.

Perhaps what we need are some guidelines. I know in a previous thread someone asked for a list of "bad words", perhaps it might be clearer if we had a guide of "borderline" words that are acceptable, in context.

And in the mean time, here's a good rule of thumb...

If the word in question CAN be used (whether you agree with it personally or not) on regular television then it's allowed on MOCpages without a censor. Stronger words (like "S" and "F" bombs) simply need the PG rating on the moc and then they're fine.

There IS a top end to this as well where if someone crosses over the line they will be asked, nicely, to change it, and if they don't, we'll do it for them.

For the time being though, the two words that are in most question are the one that refers to the lake of fire in the afterlife and the one that could also be used for a wall holding back water. Both of these words ARE allowed to be said on network TV and as such, ARE allowed to be posted here, regardless of personal preference. (and trust me, there's a LOT of stuff around here (not always language related) that I don't agree with personally, but I enforce the rules as they stand.)

If you come across something that IS in violation, simply let us know and we'll take a look. If it needs it, we'll add the filter or take approriate action. If it doesn't need it well... ... ...

Again, if you can hear the word on network TV, then it's ok on MOCpages. Just use judgment and if you KNOW your audience is younger with more sensitive natures, then better safe than sorry ya know? When in doubt, just add the filter.

don't bother wasting everyone's time reporting PG filtered mocs. The warning is there BECAUSE the person posting it knows they have used bad language or adult themes. It DOESN'T need to be reported.

I don't get where some of you guys are coming from on this subject, if you are offended THAT MUCH by bad language, why on Earth are you removing the safe browsing option?.

As I said before, let the mods make their own mind up on whether anyone has "gone too far". By all means ask for the PG filter to be added to something that needs it, continue to report abusive language, I'm sure the mods would appreciate the help. But stop "looking" for "bad words", because that sure as "heck" isn't a healthy use of your time.

I get it but there was some kinda vulgar stuff on his page (stuff that even the PG rating wouldn't allow)

You are a SLOW learner man! It's allowed as long is its under a PG filter! And if you are THAT offended, don't remove safe browsing! Seriously

Why are you guys still on this topic? Just report the stuff that doesn't have a PG filter if you are not sure. Phipson already said if you can hear it on daytime television, most likely it's fine. I don't prefere cussing all that much either, but it is part of how the world is so stop making such a big deal about it.

For the last time, I am not offended by what he/she said. I'm not even offended but more annoyed because they way the points were written came off as pompous and rude. Maybe that's just me

Agreed, lets end the conversation before someone (probably me) says something innapropriate

I ask again: What does the PG rating not cover? I'd prefer to have this knowledge now.

Agreed. I think this particular horse is sufficiently dead. And thanks for the polite request.
