Hmmm. That one's got me stumped - not encountered this kind of problem before.
If anyone else has thoughts, PLEASE chime in. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if we try a slightly different approach, we might see a different outcome...
Try deleting your icon first (instead of immediately switching it out). Once it's gone, then try going back in and inserting a new one. Dunno - this is a shot in the dark.
Also, I might recommend loosing the "marque" part of your name.
If we can't figure it out, I can always ask Sean. But let's see if we can get it, or if someone else here has the answer first.

OK it just changed to the new one without me changing it. wierd. also I can't get rid of the marqee because I can't edit my homepage. (and before you tell me, I do not have an android, iAnything, or any other way to access My MOCpages) Permalink | August 29, 2012, 8:57 am |

LOL. Oh, well. I guess we'll just have to "deal with it."
Glad the icon switched over. I know sometimes it takes several hours for an icon to switch. I'd still like to know what was up, but hopefully you're squared away for the time being.

New ones back. it seems to be switching between them on it's own now. *gasp* MOCpages have become self-aware! Permalink | August 30, 2012, 9:00 am |

This is what I got back from Sean:
"His/your browser cached the old one. Press shift reload.
Sean"
Give 'er a try and let us know if that's not doing it.

Mark you beat me to it, I was just about to suggest that it was a cache retention thing.
Most of these anomalous reset bugs are down to people not clearing their cache file or switching browsers. Permalink | August 31, 2012, 1:22 pm |

Thanks, Andros. I should look into developing a better understanding of that simple process. As you indicate, it seems to be a common, and easily remedied issue around here.

I've a few "techie" contacts and worked with computers as part of my job in the UK for 10 years, so I'm used to the standard answers "have you cleared the cache file? have you switched it on and off again? have you checked all the cables are connected?" in fact I tend to start by telling IT support that I've done all that before they ask now.

I've been having to do that with my TV when I watch recorded shows on my VHS tapes the past few days to get a clear picture! I'm not lying either, I still record with VHS tapes. Permalink | September 2, 2012, 5:38 pm |
