Okay, the ad, advertising the droid razr maxx HD is on my page... And it's covering my two most popular MOCs up. And on the Mocpages homepage, it covers half of the activity bar up. Just letting you know. I have tested this on numerous computers also.

Same here. It invades every other page I load, including when I signed in just now. I'm going to take a screenshot every time it pops up.

This ad needs to be removed.

Thanks in advance --John

I've got the same issue with an ad for the Boston Museum of Science.

By the way, don't feel like making a new topic for this, but I have another ad problem. Sometimes when I load a page- frequency varies from once in a while, up to every single page- it is unable to load due to an ad that pops up. Basically I get an empty black page with the outline of the normal ad on the top bar, which is empty, with another empty square overlapping that, where an ad looks like it should probably go... but as I said, nothing at all loads. It can be solved by refreshing the page, so it isn't too much of a problem, just extremely annoying.

Yes, this ad that prevents the page from loading happens to me too - about 1 in 10 times that I try to load a page.

Just download an Ad Blocker. It'll block all of the ads that appear on screen.

Yeah, and it'll also steal money out of Sean's pocket that he uses to pay for this site that you use for free...

I would, but you know, Chris is right about that, of course.

don't you only get money from the adds if you click on them?

I thought that, too, and appearently, the views from YouTube generate founds, not just the advertisements. How it generates money is beyond me but just hearing that all you have to do is go to a website and it generates funds makes you wonder why the economy is so bad.

I have already addressed the topic in another discussion; I sent a sscreenshot/email of the ad to Mr. Kelso, who has, in turn, sent that to Mr Sean Kenney. Tho personally, I haven't seen the ad recently, so I think we can now safely close this conversation.

Nope, all it needs to do is show up on your screen. Think about it, do TV stations only make money from commercials if someone goes and buys their product? No, the companies have to pay for the commercial in advance regardless of who sees them or gets their product. Same concept here. So everytime an ad is blocked, it's not being shown, which means that the company is not paying for that ad space... which means Sean doesn't get paid.

Of course, why didn't I think of that? It makes perfect sense.

Actually it's still very much present for me (and Freeling I presume as he started this topic).

Oh. I haven't seen it recently, so I simply assumed that the ad was kicked. It may take a while for the ad to disappear; and in any case, with Hurricane Sandy, I would recommend to sit tight, the ad is, at the very least, not inappropriate.

It happens to me all the time. In fact, it'll probably happen once I post this comment.

It just repositions your screen so that the comment is at the top.

Makes a link directly to that comment. For example, permalink this comment, then click the home button. Then hit the back button and you will be taken directly to this permalinked comment, instead of the top of the thread.

Hey, gang - a quick update here on the issue of the overlay ads...

Sean had gotten back with me, and reiterated that such ads are not allowed on this site. He was going to look into the one we reported to him, HOWEVER...that was just before Sally wreaked havoc on the coast. Since he was smack in the middle of the fray, he may not have had the opportunity to deal with it. I don't know.

Having said that, the one we reported will be dealt with, IF it hasn't already. Should anyone else see another ad that does the overlay, please feel free to report it here (such as the Boston Museum of Science ad), and Chris and I can pass the info along to Sean. Other advertisers may be doing it, and the only way we can discover which ones are breaking the rules, is if the members report the ads (and a screen capture or two would be helpful for identification, as well).

I don't give out my personal email, but if you have a screen capture, you are welcome to send it to my business email: mark@markkelsoart.com , where I can pass the image along to Sean.

Thanks so much, everyone!

Alright, due to the ad problem I mentioned (the empty-page one), I was just unable to acces my homepage (or any other page on MOCpages) on my computer for over ten minutes of constant refreshing. I'm posting this on a mobile device where I don't have that same problem.

Alright, well, the Museum of Science ad is back. Before it was layered behind the MOCs, so I could still click them. Now, though, it is in front of them, so I can't see or click on my two most popular MOCs because they are blocked by the mammoth exhibit banner thing.

Can't tell you how how relieved I was to find this thread. Thought I had Adware (and I have a nice Firewall in place just to stop them, but DON'T use Adblockers, just Ad/Spyware). Unfortunately, I have to add the AT-T now has 3 versions (LG Prints, Unlimited Family Texting, and the 'Nice List' versions), all of which Overlay, and prevent page remainders loading.

I opened a Help Ticket four days ago re: but no reply. :( Good luck to us all.

This forum seems to be a used a lot to moan about ads that people don't like (although the ones that block elements of the site are legitimate complaints), even though it's been said again and again that you mods can't control what ads are placed on MOCpages.

So as you always get the blame for ads people don't like, I thought I'd say a heartfelt thank you for the 'bra that rewinds time' ad that's currently brightening up the right hand side of my MOCpage.

I assume Phipson selected it personally.

There's the one about the new Android phone. And it's blocking half of the recent activity bar. >.> And there's this way to hack mocpages. But We won't discuss that here. Should I email you?

I keep getting this Nivea Man add. It "follows" my screen, every time I scroll down, it comes down with me. I believe this "breaks" the MOCpages "rules" for ads.
